I didn't forget my purpose in doing this however and once my lifeforce stores crossed a million I began to funnel the energy into the vault key. At first I couldn't quite grasp the right "feel" to charging the key so it was slow going or I wasted much energy but I began getting better fast. I could sort of feel the level of charge the key had as I was sending it energy and I began to think I may have underestimated how long this was going to take.-
Resolving myself to push my powers to unsafe levels I began drawing in larger and more dense asteroids at an alarming rate. At one point I'm fairly certain I had a literal mountain sized asteroid being pulled apart under my powers. My powers innate hunger was rebelling HARD at this torturous intake and outflow of energy to charge the key. I was keeping it in line for now and resisting the urge to just devour everything without spending any of it as I knew what that led to. That kind of madness was not something so easily recovered from and I refused to let myself be controlled by my own power.-
With such a constant reinvigoration I felt no need for sleep and I lost count of the passage of time. It all just sort of blurred together like one second the key was near empty and the next it couldn't take any more. This snapped my mind out of it's fugue state and I put away the key before continuing to grab asteroids to bring my lifeforce pool up to three million in preparation for whatever traits the vault monster would possess. Once nice and properly plumped up and high on lifeforce I jetted back to my ships open cargo bay and closed it up.-
I checked the date and breathed a sigh of relief as I hadn't taken too long, just five galactic days. Almost a week sure but that really wasn't long at all by Pandoran time so my friends probably hadn't gotten concerned yet. Days on Pandora were over ninety hours long so by that measure I was only gone for about three days really. I wasn't making excuses or anything here this was legit not very long at all for us. Besides I did tell them I would be gone for a few days so I was covered either way.-
Anyways I headed back to Baal 3 and found my landing site again that had changed a little in the time I was gone. The biggest and easiest change was the fact quite a few trees had been chopped down and stacked together into a crude log cabin with smoke coming out the chimney and everything. The most concerning part was that it seemed to have been built around my house. I landed my ship swiftly and left it to see what the dick happened.-
The crude door to the cabin was kicked open from the inside as Brick barreled out and roared as he threw a haymaker right at my face. I just raised an eyebrow at this and grabbed his wrist before flipping him over my shoulder casually ignoring his Punchline going off.
"Ow, heh I always wanted to do that." Brick said with a wide grin as he lay sprawled out on his back.
"I did tell him it wouldn't go very well but you know how he gets when he has an idea." Roland said as he, lil and Mordy walked out the open doorway.
"Yeah yeah I get that part, standard Brick type shit. What's up with the shitty shack though?" I asked confused.
"Blame the lizard. He went on a rampage apparently and led the revenge party back to the portal. We killed them but to keep anymore from just waltzing in we put up the cabin. Bricks idea again, even insisted it needed a chimney for some reason." Lil said with a shrug.
"It wouldn't be right without a smoking chimney, everyone knows that." Brick defended himself.
"He's actually right but that aside the keys charged and ready to go if you are also good to go." I said with a chuckle.
"Hell yeah! Lets go already!" Brick yelled eagerly and we all just looked at him still on the ground and he just laughed and got up "NOW let's go!" he said without any shame.
I collected my house from the totally legit cabin. I didn't bother taking the long way and just got us all in a phase lock bubble and teleported us to the vault chamber. I took out the key and this time when I put it into the slot for it the arch pieces didn't stop as they assembled themselves into the slightly broken still but mostly complete archway. -
A flash of purple energy went off midair in the center of the archway and the portal manifested. From the portal a single massive white furred paw stepped out followed by a wide ursine snout. Soon a massive white bear had lumbered out of the portal standing easily four meters tall from paw to shoulder and nearly twice that length.

"GRAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The great bear rose to it full height and roared loudly enough to shake the entire chamber. We wasted no time at all unloading our weapons on it only for it's fur to shimmer as our bullets hit it and stop them in place.
"It's got a shield!" I called seriously as we scattered around the beast.
Mordy tossed a grenade that exploded at the beasts left ankle causing it to react aggressively by slamming it's paw at him with a snarl. He dodged out of the way of the him sized paw and we found out why it was called mountain breaker as the spot it hit exploded violently like a missile hitting something. The bear removed it's paw from the red hot crater and immediately tried again.-
I grabbed Mordy with phase lock and pulled him to safety before belching out a powerful stream of flames that bathed the bears chest causing it to snort in derision as it ignored them to swipe at me with it's paw. I just sneered at this as I held out my palm and pure destructive energy coated my palm right at it's paw struck it. There was a crisp "Crack!" as it's shield broke almost immediately and I was sent flying into the chambers side in a blur from the force of the impact.-
The bears eyes widened however as it realized it's innate protection was gone and my friends capitalized on this to unleash several grenades and bullets on it.
"GRAAAAAAA!"
This time the roar was from the pain as it's fur was singed away by the grenades and the bullets dug painfully in to it's skin. No one was worried about me though and for good reason as I pulled myself out of the me shaped crater in the wall and necked my neck.
"I actually felt that. Let me return to favor!" I yelled with a wide grin as I teleported next to it's face and threw a full bodied punch.
"BOOM!"
The impact created a small shockwave as the beasts head jerked hard to the side carrying it's whole body almost a quarter turn with it. The bear staggered slightly once it stopped as it's mind was dazed from the jello shake it's brain had suffered.
