As I had said before I fully planned on giving my friends each an [Agelessness] trait at some point so they'd stick around until something either killed them or they took themselves out. While Maya would be a good way to stay mentally anchored the more reliable people I had around me the better my odds of not going off the deep end would be. Naturally I'd also endeavor to make sure these people were as hard to kill as possible since accidents and ambushes were a thing still.-
For my other friends the traits that would cause them to look like Brick or me once my body reaches full maturity were off the table as they didn't like the size and amount of hard muscle that came with it. Honestly I thought it was a waste but they were their own people so I just needed to take a different route. If pumping them to the gills with traits wouldn't work then I'd just use tech to cover the problem up. Already they possessed some of the best shields in the six galaxies and Roland even had his armor that while technically still a prototype was more than capable of deflecting even sniper fire from any range but point blank.-
Unlike all the other suits of armor that will have self destruction mechanisms in them to keep idiots from trying to sell the gear for a quick buck his was free and clear. Lil was already almost impossible to kill anyways as her powers make her difficult to hit unless she gets predictable with her teleports or runs out of energy. The first was something she could only slowly figure out while the second could be solved with the [Energy reservoir] trait or straight up Eridium.-
Anyways Ladon popped up in the middle of the night on the second day of waiting and we could finally leave. Taking my ship back to Pandora was a simple affair that followed the same process as the one I used to get to Baal 3 originally. It felt strange to say but it was nice being back on Pandora actually. The planet had sort of grown on me. Strange considering didn't didn't really have many positive impressions of the place but that was just how it worked out.-
I naturally gave Ladon the [Bio-energy shielding] trait that caused him to roll around whining in annoyance as his scales shed for new reflective shiny ones but I tested it and he truly did have a built in shield now. Once he learnt he didn't need the harness anymore he immediately tore it to shreds and set it on fire. Overly dramatic in my opinion but i'm not a giant flying fire breathing reptile so who knows. With our goal for leaving done things moved back into the way it was before we left with a single new development.-
Finally after waiting so long the "Angel" reached out to tell me where my Eridium claim was if I wanted to grab the land deed and exploitation rights for the area. Naturally I got the paperwork knocked out immediately and was now the proud owner of a big ass chunk of undeveloped high potential land, that I immediately gave the mining permission of the the old man. Frankly speaking I couldn't be bothered to try and set up my own mining crew with equipment and all that. It was easier to just let the old man take the reins here while I just sat back and let the profit come in all on it's own.-
While I relaxed I received word that a Hyperion satellite station was on route to Pandora from the "Angel" and got a strange request in the process.
"You want that eye I got from the Destroyer?" I asked confused.
"Yes, the eye is a key component to a weapon system in development aboard the Helios orbital station." she said seriously.
"To be clear you do understand how that doesn't sound like a good thing right?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Your concern is understandable. The weapon would not be a threat to you however and would only serve as a suitable deterrent force." she said calmly.
"You REALLY aren't filling me with a desire to hand over the big squishy eyeball to you. What do I even get out of this beside maybe some appreciation? Cuz if I wanted a vault monster trophy turned into a weapon I could just make it myself." I said casually.
"That may be true but you won't. As for what you will receive how does Hyperion's entire stock of research on Eridians sound?" she said calmly.
"Hmmm, tempting to be sure but what guarantee do I have that the information won't just be a repeat of what I already know?" I asked seriously.
"There is of course bound to be some overlap since all the corporations have access to the same records. But it was thanks to Hyperion's research that we knew what would happen when the vault on Pandora was opened." she said calmly.
"Alright fine, you've convinced me. One big eyeball with incredible destructive potential in exchange for the entirety of Hyperion's information on a long missing race of aliens." I said finally agreeing.
Naturally the trade wouldn't happen until the satellite station was in place since that was where it was going to go. In the meanwhile Moxxi held a blood fest colosseum style arena event with the prizes being a lot of guns, money and potentially Moxxi herself. Mordy jumped at the opportunity without hesitation as he wanted all three which was to be expected I supposed. Despite her reputation for being rather promiscuous Moxxi was actually not really one with too many partners. If anything she could be considered quite old fashioned as she only ever had a single partner at any given moment. -
Sure she might drop partners the moment it becomes clear they weren't a good match for her but that was more on her shitty options than anything. Pandora wasn't exactly teeming with good men and the few already here were either long spoken for or gay. I genuinely felt kinda bad for her if anything. I had looked into her past and to say it was bad would be an understatement. Originally she was part of the Hodunk bandit clan with Scooter having been born when she was thirteen after one of them raped her.-
She had married a decent enough member of that clan after that point who fathered her daughter Ellie when she was sixteen before getting killed. The clan threatened Ellie to manipulate Moxxi after that only for her to take her children and escape into the arms of her second husband Mr. Shank. The now dead bandit offered her and the kids protection and was even a decent father figure to the two children for a good while before he took a blade through the skull and it changed him. He didn't harm them or anything but he became unstable and dangerous so she went her own way resolutely.-
She managed to scrape together enough cash to open her bar and once it earned enough she helped Scooter establish the Catch-A-Ride system. After that money was no longer a problem at all as the franchise exploded in popularity across the planet. They were humble about it but there was no mistaking that her family was one of the wealthiest on the planet. Her daughter and her didn't get along all that well due to certain ideological disputes but were still decently close while Scooter did his own thing.
