Grand Line – Paradise

In the middle of the sea, on the way to Alabasta

In a matter of seconds, the Merry doubles in size and keeps growing, stopping only after reaching the same size as the canonical Thousand Sunny, which was more than enough for the weaker members of the crew to train freely.

Luffy then sets the three of them to train their bodies to the limit and beyond, with Nami and Usopp helping to guide them.

And so, while the three run around the now spacious deck, carrying massive weights with them, Sanji comes out onto the deck looking irritated about something.

"Hey, Usopp! What the fuck is this? I can't cook like this! How the hell am I supposed to heat up a regular pan with a giant stove burner? The pan will melt from the fire's temperature", Sanji asks angrily. He was in the kitchen making breakfast when the Merry began to grow. It was utter chaos, a pan almost melted, food nearly got burned; this whole mess left the cook seriously annoyed.

"Luffy's idea, man! Take it up with him!", Usopp says, washing his hands of this situation. In the background, all the ship's residents arrive on the deck to see what the hell was going on.

"Hey, Luffy! Explain this shit!", Sanji yells at Luffy, demanding an explanation.

"We always need more space to train, and this was the temporary solution I came up with", Luffy explains, shrugging.

"I was making breakfast!", Sanji complains. There was no way he could go back to cooking with the kitchen in that state.

"You can finish it later, I'm not hungry yet anyway! And if you burned anything, I'll eat it anyway!", Luffy says, thinking this would calm him down since there wouldn't be any food waste.

"That's not the... sigh... you know what, never mind! And just for the record, I don't burn food! By the way, since we're on the subject, you messed with the fridge, didn't you?", Giving up on the argument with a sigh, Sanji takes the opportunity to ask, suspicious.

"I have no idea what you're talking about!", turning his head in the opposite direction from Sanji, Luffy says while whistling, trying not to look suspicious and failing miserably at it.

"Hmmm...", frowning, Sanji stares him down intensely, pressing Luffy without saying a word.

"So we'll be able to use heavier weights now?", arriving next to them at that moment, Zoro asks, having heard the conversation, the idea of being able to go back to training his body efficiently was quite appealing to him.

"I think the only efficient way for you, Sanji, Chouchou, and even Usopp to train right now is to pull the ship with a bunch of extra weight tied to your back", Luffy says, relieved to have been pulled out of the tense moment. The Merry could handle a lot more weight now, but still not enough for the four of them; the amount of weight they'd need to really train would still sink the ship.

"Better than nothing! Hey, Usopp, help me tie the weights and ropes to my body, I'm gonna pull the Merry", Zoro says with a shrug before turning to Usopp, taking off his shirt and tossing it aside.

"Hey, Sanji! Go with him just in case", Nami says, if no one was watching him, it was dangerous for Zoro to end up pulling the Merry in the completely wrong direction.

"Alright! We'll finish this later... hey, Usopp! Help me too, do the same with me!", letting out a sigh, Sanji agrees and says to Luffy, before then turning to Usopp and asking for the same thing Zoro had asked him to do, unbuttoning his dress shirt and tossing it aside.

Usopp then helps them with the weights and the ropes, and before the two enter the water, the crew's sniper increases the weights' size, making Sanji and Zoro carry on their backs about ten weights the same size as the Merry currently is, that is, they were each carrying ten and a half Thousand Sunnys.

While the two trained, Luffy turns to Usopp and Chouchou and says, "After those two finish, you two are going to do this too!"

"And you? Come to think of it, I don't think we've ever seen you really train", Usopp asks, curious. Luffy is super strong, and yet they've never seen him train for real.

"The way I am now, there are only two ways I can get stronger! The first is fighting people like Gramps, and the other is training by lifting mountains, which I can't do on board!", Luffy says, explaining why he doesn't train like the others.

And then, the crew's daily training continues through the morning, everyone joining the routine, Sabo helping Luffy train everyone, Vivi, Karoo, and Chopper pushing past their limits until they're close to passing out.

"Alright, now lastly, put these on your wrists, Vivi, Chopper! At the end of each training session, we're going to focus on building your resistance to the weakness every Devil Fruit has. Once you've gotten used to it a bit, you'll start wearing the bracelet during the normal training too", Luffy says, pulling two Seastone bracelets from his pocket and handing them over.

As soon as Vivi touches the bracelet, she comes to pieces like a LEGO figure, only not hitting the ground because Luffy catches her by the waist at the last second.

"How... how are you... totally fine holding this while I'm practically melting over here?", Vivi asks.

"My resistance is high! You'll get used to it after a while too", Luffy says with a big smile.

"Are you sure it won't be a problem for me to use this since my fruit made me like this?", Chopper asks, worried about what might happen if he wears the bracelet.

"You just won't be able to transform into a helicopter!", Luffy says, not missing the chance to mess with Chopper before talking seriously.

"I can't transform into a helicopter, idiot!", Chopper says, irritated.

"What do you mean? Then why'd I even invite you to the crew if you can't turn into a helicopter?", Luffy asks, pretending to be disappointed.

"What?", Chopper exclaims, shocked, tears starting to well up in the corners of his eyes.

"Shishishishishi! Relax, Chopper, I'm just messing with you! I invited you to the crew because you're an amazing doctor!", Luffy says, laughing loudly as he crouches down in front of Chopper and reassures him with a huge smile.

"You... you rubber-brained idiot! I'm not happy at all with your shitty compliment!", cursing Luffy angrily for the stupid joke, Chopper then does a silly little dance while cursing him even more for the compliment.

"So, being serious now! I don't know what's going to happen, but I don't think anything serious will. You'll probably just get a little dumber", Luffy says seriously. Though he doesn't remember clearly, he has memories of Chopper falling into the sea in the canon, so he's not that worried.

"Alright, let's try it!", Chopper says determinedly, holding out his little arm for Luffy to put the Seastone bracelet on him.

As soon as Luffy fastens the bracelet to his wrist, Chopper collapses to the floor, weak and close to fainting, his body still in his hybrid form (the chibi form) for whatever reason.

[I did some research because the doubt arose, and for some reason, when Chopper falls into seawater, he returns to his hybrid form and not his base reindeer form (Walk Point). It's never been explained, and I also don't know if he loses the ability to speak when weakened. So, in my fic, when affected by seawater or Seastone, he just loses his human speech and gets a little less intelligent.]

"Are you okay, Chopper? Feeling anything weird? By the way, you didn't turn back into a normal reindeer, I don't know why", making sure Chopper's head doesn't hit the ground, Luffy asks, wanting to know if anything was wrong.

"Brr, grr grr brrgrrbrr grr brrbrr grr grrgrr brr grrbrr, grr brrgrr grr brrbrr grr grrbrr!" "Weak, I can't move and I think I can't speak normally either, but aside from that I don't feel any different!", Chopper groans weakly, saying what he was feeling, unable to speak in human language.

"Well, I guess you only lost your ability to speak in human language then", Luffy comments, noticing that Chopper's cognitive ability apparently hadn't been altered.

"Grr, grr brrbrr grrbrr brrgrr 'brr' brrgrr!" "No, I think I'm a little more 'dumb' too!", Chopper groans, realizing his cognitive ability had decreased, not enough for him to become an irrational instinct-driven animal, but compared to his previous, which was at least genius-level cognitive ability, he was now at the level of a normal human being.

"Well, at least that's all, it's not all bad! Anyway, I'm going to put the bracelet on you now, Vivi! You two will keep it on for another hour or two", Luffy comments before turning to Vivi and saying.

"Wait a sec... alright, go on!", Vivi then sits on the floor and extends her arm to Luffy.

Putting the bracelet on Vivi, Luffy lays her down on the floor and starts observing the two. At this point, everyone, except Vivi and Chopper, had already finished their daily training and were resting on the deck. Nojiko, having just bought the day's newspaper edition, returns to the deck reading the front-page news.

"Guys! We're in the newspaper!", Nojiko announces for everyone to hear.

"What do you mean?", Kaya asks worriedly.

"Someone documented all the fights that happened in Drum, the whole article is about how we killed a Vice Admiral and how dangerous we are!", Nojiko says, informing them about what she read.

As soon as she says this, five wanted posters fall out of the newspaper and fly through the air, one hitting Luffy's face, another hitting Zoro's face, another Sanji's face, another Usopp's face, and the last one hitting Chouchou's face.

Pulling the posters off their faces, the five make surprised expressions, four from seeing their faces on posters for the first time, and the fifth from seeing his new and higher bounty.

"What a thing, huh?", Sanji.

"Hmm!", Zoro grunts.

"Woof!" "Cool!", Chouchou.

"!!!!!!!", Usopp stares at the poster, his eyes wide open and his mouth completely open.

"Shishishishi!!", Luffy looks at his new bounty with a smile.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Drum, Dalton arrives at the castle holding the day's newspaper in his hand. He quickly enters the place and finds Dra. Kureha is coordinating a research team in one of the castle's rooms. Approaching her, he hands over five wanted posters to her.

"What's this?", Dra. Kureha asks, noticing Dalton's arrival and the papers laid out in front of her.

"The Straw Hats got new bounties! Apparently someone registered what happened here", Dalton says, speculating.

'...Shit, how did I forget to charge them for their treatment?', looking at the posters for a few seconds, Dra. Kureha thinks when remembering, getting in a bad mood; those brats ran off without paying for the treatment they owed her, and she forgot to charge them, too.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Whisky Peak, Miss Monday and Mr. 9 drank beer together while reading the newspaper, the five wanted posters stacked on a little table beside them.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in the lower deck of the Swanda, Mr. 2 Bon Clay's ship, hidden among barrels, crates, and large fabric sacks, was a stowaway, Mr. 3, Galdino. He was alone; Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, and Miss Goldenweek had gone elsewhere thanks to the Unluckies they captured after the giants left a devastated Little Garden behind.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, at Twin Capes, Crocus, sitting relaxed in a beach chair, calmly read the day's newspaper. Laboon, in the background, was joyfully shaking his head painted with the Straw Hats Jolly Roger, having seen his friends' wanted posters a few minutes earlier.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Cocoyasi Village, Genzo, sitting on the steps of a building, was reading the day's newspaper. The five wanted posters were stacked on the ground next to him. It was nice to get news from the brats, even if they weren't the best kind of news, but what he really wanted was news about Nojiko and Nami.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, at Baratie, Gin enters the kitchen, wearing a cook trainee's uniform, heading toward Zeff, who was calmly plating a smoked lamb risotto.

"Chef Zeff, new wanted posters of the Straw Hats, Sanji got one too!", Gin says excitedly, showing him the five posters.

"Hrrm, leave it there and go help Patty!", Zeff says calmly without paying much attention.

Finishing the presentation, he turns his attention to the posters, his gaze fixing on Sanji's, a slight smile forming on his face.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Syrup Village, the butler Merry read the day's newspaper while seated in an armchair in Kaya's mansion, sipping a cup of tea from time to time. From the open window of the room he was in, it was possible to see the children who Usopp were friends, Ninjin, Piiman, and Tamanegi, excitedly chatting in the mansion's yard, holding the five Straw Hat wanted posters in hand.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Orange Town, Mayor Boodle stared intently at Chouchou's wanted poster, a smile on his face. On the table in front of him were the day's newspaper and the other four Straw Hat wanted posters.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Shells Town, Rika, the little girl Zoro saved, was sitting on a stool at the counter of her mother's bar. In front of her, spread across the counter, were the Straw Hats' wanted posters, her admiring gaze fixed on Zoro's poster in her hands.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Shimotsuki Village, East Blue, Shimotsuki Koushirou, the father of the late Kuina, looked at Zoro's wanted poster in his hand with a calm smile on his face.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Old-Town, Sheriff Jerson was in his office reading the day's newspaper. On the desk in front of him, four of the five Straw Hats wanted posters were spread out, and on the other side of the office, sitting on a sofa, was Maria, looking at Luffy's new wanted poster with a smile.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Foosha Village, at Party Bar, owned by Makino, a huge party had started not long ago. Dadan and the mountain bandits, the village residents, everyone were celebrating the new bounties of the Straw Hats. Makino was serving them with a smile on her face. And in an isolated corner, all grumpy, was Mayor Woop Slap, in a bad mood, Luffy and the brats with him had killed a Vice Admiral.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, on the way to Water 7, Reiju was sitting relaxed in an armchair in her room, sipping from a coffee mug while calmly reading the day's newspaper, the wanted posters of her friends stacked on the table on her side, having already seen them.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in Alabasta, a tall and muscular boy, shirtless, a Jolly Roger tattooed on his back and wearing a cowboy hat, walked through a city with a wanted poster in hand, a smile plastered on his face as he looked at his little brother's face on the poster.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Grand Line, Yasopp proudly looked at his son Usopp's wanted poster. Shanks's reaction to seeing Luffy's new bounty is unknown.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Grand Line, on Kuraigana Island, home of Dracule Mihawk, the man himself was reading the day's newspaper while sipping from a wine glass, the Straw Hats' wanted posters stacked on the table beside him.

"Well, look at that!", he murmurs, slightly surprised that Zoro and his companions had killed a Vice Admiral.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, in a random place on the Grand Line, on the way to Elbaph, Dorry and Brogy were getting drunk in celebration of the new bounties of their friends, the Straw Hats.

=Scene Break=

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Grand Line, out at sea, "Buwahahahahaha! I feel like this is going to cause trouble in the future!", laughing out loud, Garp, in his office, read the day's newspaper with amusement, the five Straw Hat wanted posters spread across his large desk.

=Scene Break=

Now, in Marineford, Akainu, in his office, crushes the day's newspaper in anger, burning it to turn into ashes, drops of lava dripping from his clenched fist and falling to the floor, melting and creating small holes in the wooden planks that made up the floor. Spread out on the desk in front of him were the five Straw Hats' wanted posters. He had underestimated those brats and lost a valuable man. Not anymore. For now, he would watch, waiting for the right moment and opportunity.

"90,000,000!!!", dead or alive, Usopp, the Sniper. His photo on the wanted poster captured the moment he fired his "Nova-Phoenix Dawn" at Aramaki. The image showed his face in profile, stained with blood, one of his arms extended, and part of his other hand beside his face, having just fired his slingshot.

"150,000,000!!!", dead or alive, Chouchou, the Blood Wolf. His photo on the wanted poster was part of a larger image composed of him in his full Zoan form in the background, with Zoro and Sanji in the foreground. The photo focused on him, his low stance like an apex predator watching its prey, growling with bared teeth, his snow-white fur stained with blood giving him an even colder and more threatening appearance.

"180,000,000!!!", dead or alive, Sanji, the Black Leg. His photo on the wanted poster was part of the same image from which Chouchou and Zoro's photos were taken. In the picture, he appeared from the waist up, drenched in blood, blowing smoke while flicking his cigarette away, his only visible eye seeming to stare coldly at anyone who dared look at his poster.

"180,000,000!!!", dead or alive, Roronoa Zoro, the Mountain Cutter. His photo on the wanted poster showed him from the waist up, covered in blood, casually holding Yubashiri and Sandai Kitetsu in his hands while Wado was in his mouth. His black bandana covered the top of his head, leaving only his eyes visible, eyes that stared down at anyone who dared look at the poster like a predator. His posture, despite being relaxed, exuded the sensation of being completely aggressive and hostile.

"300,000,000!!!", dead or alive, Monkey D. Luffy, the Straw Hat. His photo on the wanted poster was still the same as before, his cheerful, smiling face contrasting completely with his bounty and his deeds. Anyone seeing just his face wouldn't imagine he was a pirate, much less that he had a bounty that big, or that he was someone capable of fighting toe-to-toe with the Marine Hero, Garp the Fist.

=Scene Break=

Back on the Merry, after three more days of travel, which consisted of hellish training for Vivi, Karoo, and Chopper, the Straw Hats were closer than ever to Alabasta.

(AN: 3,178 Words)

[They killed a Vice Admiral; there was no way I could give them a low bounty. I think killing a Vice Admiral would earn anyone a bounty of around 300,000,000 Berries, or even more, depending on who was killed. So, to avoid making it look exaggerated, I divided the bounty among Zoro, Sanji, and Chouchou for being the ones who did the killing. And a slightly lower bounty for Usopp because he gave Aramaki trouble. As for Luffy, his bounty increased that much because his brief clash with Garp was registered, so what was once just 'speculation' became a reality.]
