"Then it must be," the woman laughed, "Congratulations, you're going to be a mom."
The little girl raised her head upon hearing, "Is sister going to be a mom?"
Tong Ran looked at her big, bright eyes, pure and innocent like only a child's could be. She reached out and patted her head, "Do you prefer a little brother or a little sister?"
"I'll listen," the little girl slid down from the woman's side and ran over to Tong Ran, pressing her ear against her belly, grabbing her sweater with her small hands, "I hear it, it's a little brother talking!"
"Don't make a fuss." The woman pulled her daughter back.
"It's okay." Tong Ran smiled at the little girl. She always thought the lost child must have been a daughter, who stayed quietly inside her belly, never making any noise until she was gone…
The woman saw her expression and thought she was nervous, "Where's your husband? Didn't he come with you?"
"No, he's busy with work."
