What lay before her left Anna dumbfounded.
Underneath the mattress, there was an entrance to a basement—a round entrance, tightly sealed with an iron door, leading who knows where! In the center of the iron door was an old and intricate pattern, which had darkened over the years, with sharp claw marks scratching through it. The edges of the door handle were worn smooth from frequent touch. Clearly, either something lived in there and "it" would often come out to play, or something would often open the iron door to go inside...
"Madam, this—this, I never knew!" Anna stammered.
"Of course you didn't know, because you've never cleaned under the bed, have you?"
"Madam, I know I was wrong, I'll be more careful in the future!"
