After dusk, Long Linger sat by the window, silently watching the outside. This little alley was full of life, people coming and going, each face filled with joy... But none of this seemed to have anything to do with her, she was destined to be like a Canary, trapped in this cage until she grew old and died.
If she broke out of this cage, would she really encounter danger? What exactly was this so-called danger? Even things that Mom and Dad believed can't be false, but thinking about it always felt wrong. Someday, she would have to test it herself to know.
After dinner, Yeh Huang stayed on the second floor and never came down, while Long Linger paced around downstairs, hearing no sound from above. She circled the stairway several times but still couldn't see anything. What was that strange uncle doing upstairs alone? Not coming down to bathe or drink water, what was so fun up there?
