April was indeed the finest of seasons. The weather was neither too cool nor too hot, the whole garden lush and verdant, with the flower beds all abloom, the yard vibrant with life.
Loo Ying was excited; it was her first interaction with a lady of high station, so she wished to make a good impression on Luo Mingzhu.
Luo Mingzhu looked down on Loo Ying and, without casting her a glance, said to Yueyao, "Where do you live? Let's visit your courtyard." Actually, Luo Mingzhu wanted to see if Yueyao lived up to her reputation as a talented lady.
The commanding tone of Luo Mingzhu furrowed Yueyao's brow; she was keen to befriend Luo Mingzhu, but only on equal footing, not like a maid, and certainly not to serve like one.
Before Yueyao could reply, Loo Ying chimed in, "Sister Luo, my cousin's courtyard has a few Begonia trees that are gorgeous, especially now that they are in full bloom."
