A middle aged man was climbing up a mountain along with two young girl. He had a sharp nose and eyebrows, thin lips and his face reflecting vicissitude of time. He was a perfected Heavenly King. Perfection stage was in between Saint realm and late stage Heavenly King. A perfected Heavenly King could even go against an initial Saint realm cultivator.
"Father, we're almost there," one of the girls said from behind, her voice clear and soft.
Her name was Mu Yan, and beside her walked Mu Yun. The man leading them was Heavenly King Mu Bai, the pillar of the Mu Clan.
As they reached the summit, a vast crowd came into view, gathered around a massive, ancient portal that shimmered with Dao runes. The atmosphere was tense.
"Father, it's too crowded. It'll take forever for us to get through," Mu Yun complained, frowning at the mass of cultivators.
The father daughter group went up slowly and saw the atmosphere was strange.
Some people glanced at the newly arrived group, noticing two beautiful girls, many showed lustful eyes. With a cold snort, Mu Bai released his aura. Like a mountain pressing down from the heavens, the pressure swept over the lechers like a crashing tide. The lascivious looks vanished instantly, replaced with fear and respect.
In the outside world, cultivators might weigh the consequences of their actions. But within the ancient ruin, a lawless land of opportunity and death, such restraint was rare. Strength ruled here.
Mu Bai didn't bother waiting in line. He stepped forward, cutting straight to the front. He saw a blockade by a group of cultivators clad in the robes of the Scattering Wind Sect.
"Please wait," one of them said, holding out his hand. "Our Scattering Wind Sect's disciples are currently undertaking the trial. You may enter once they're finished."
Heavenly King Mu Bai frowned. "This place is open for everyone, not belonging to a certain group. You have no right to stop us from going in." His voice was full of strength.
The disciple from scattering wind sect felt angry but he didn't dare to flare out, after all, the man in-front of him was a famous figure in eastern territory. Their Scattering wind sect isn't much powerful compared to the Mu clan but recently they made contact with the Blade Wing sect from the middle territory. A first rate sect! Now their sect was being backed by the powerful Blade wing sect, thinking of this he felt proud and arrogant.
The scattering wind sect disciple sneered and spoke, "I mean no disrespect, but what if you harbor malicious intentions toward our disciples? Wouldn't that be like inviting a tiger into the house?"
Heavenly King Mu Bai didn't bother to talk nonsense with such little guy and waved his sleeves.
Boom!
The disciple flew backward like a broken kite, crashing into the rocky ground. His condition was unknown, life and death uncertain. He just wanted to buy some time before the elders arrived but never thought that the guy wouldn't bother speak and take action directly.
The remaining Scattering Wind Sect disciples guarding the portal trembled with rage and fear, but none dared act.
Many people cheered secretly, because, behaviour of the scattering wind sect left many people angry and dissatisfied. When Heavenly King Mu Bai took action they felt relieved and happy.
"Finally, someone shut those arrogant bastards up…"
"They've been treating this ruin like their backyard ever since Blade Wing Sect started backing them."
An elder from the Scattering Wind Sect stepped forward, his eyes blazing. "Heavenly King Mu Bai! Don't be arrogant. The world has changed! Do you wish to bring calamity upon your clan?!"
Mu Bai didn't waste time with words. He simply pressed his palm forward.
The elder tried to dodge, but he was too slow. In the next breath, his body disintegrated, flesh and soul both obliterated into nothingness.
A hush fell over the area.
Heavenly King Mu bai is a legend of previous generation, since young he was heaven defying and could fight against cultivator a realm higher than him. His name had spread far and wide. The Mu family rose to prominence along with him and they had long lasting feud against the scattering wind sect. This time Heavenly King Mu Bai took action and got rid of an elder of the Scattering wind sect.
Even though the elder was in the same realm as him but was still killed on the spot. Such strength was indeed astonishing.
Mu Yan and Mu Yun, standing behind him, looked at their father's broad back. Their eyes sparkled with pride. He was like an immovable mountain unshaken by storm or threat.
Suddenly, five more elders of the Scattering Wind Sect arrived, surrounding Mu Bai and locking down the area with an inescapable formation net. All five were Heavenly Kings, but none had reached the perfected stage. A perfected heavenly king was rare even in middle territory.
Mu Bai stood calmly at the center, his hands behind his back. His aura sky rocketed, the wind and clouds howled.
Three breaths of time later, the five heavenly king experts were blasted away. The formation was broken in to pieces, all of them had a shocking hole in their chests as blood continued to pour out of it. Before they could speak, their bodies fell on the ground limply.
People were astounded! Killing five heavenly king instantly with the cultivation of heavenly king realm! It was shocking.
Just as Mu Bai prepared to step into the Dao portal, a monstrous palm imprint appeared in the sky and hurtled down toward him like a divine judgment.
He met the strike head on, his defense was rock solid. But even so, he was forced several steps back, his boots grinding against the stone.
A saint!
He instantly realised the other party was a middle stage saint.
From above, an old man descended slowly, wearing coarse robes and a worn kassaya.
"A perfected heavenly king…" the old man spoke in a deep voice. His aura was suffocating, and many present found it hard to breathe.
"How long has it been since i killed a perfected a heavenly king… umm maybe six hundred years."
Few knowledgeable people, recognised the old man. "I know who he is!"
"Tell us his origin." Someone asked
"He is the great king Zhu. He left his own legend when he was young. He himself was a perfected heavenly king and had bright future. But…." The man paused for a moment before continuing. "Back in those days, his arrogant self challenged a dao sovereign and was severely wounded. From then on his cultivation couldn't advance because his spirit sea was broken."
A broken spirit sea is indeed irrecoverable. No amount of medicine could recover a broken spirit sea.
