Chapter 377 - Chapter 377: Training Arc? Nah, Let’s Watch a Genocide

Somewhere in the forests of the Land of Fire, Uchiha Itachi moved silently under cover of night, heading toward Konoha as he turned the details of his plan over in his mind.

"They all have to die. Every last clansman—except Sasuke. Not a single other one can be allowed to live."

"Doing this will drastically reduce the number of Sharingan users in the village, and it will weaken our forces in the long run… but if any other Uchiha survive, they'll be a threat to Sasuke."

"The hatred born from a clan's extermination is more than enough to awaken a sinful Mangekyō Sharingan… If others survive, the more extreme Uchihas will inevitably target Sasuke, my little brother, and seek revenge."

"For Sasuke's safety, they must all be killed. And with Sasuke's natural talent, I believe his descendants will awaken the Sharingan as well—he'll rebuild a new Uchiha clan within the village, one that holds the true Will of Fire in their hearts."

Uchiha Itachi reviewed the logic of his plan in his mind once again. Finding no flaw in it, he sped up, racing toward Konoha with renewed urgency.

He couldn't wait any longer.

He couldn't wait to wash this clan steeped in arrogance and prejudice in blood.

Their narrow tribalism had long obstructed the true Will of Fire… and the Uchihas who spread vile rumors blaming him for Shisui's death had pushed Itachi's already raw nerves to their limit.

It was them—they were the ones who had driven Shisui to his death.

For Konoha.

For Sasuke.

For the justice that lived in Uchiha Itachi's heart—

They must die. All of them. Truly, let them die.

Beneath the dim cloak of night, two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan quietly decided the fate—and the doom—of the Uchiha clan.

The gears of the Night of the Massacre began turning—slowly, inexorably, unstoppably.

...

"Naruto, what's your take on Konoha's current situation?"

Kazuki spoke calmly. "You've been investigating the truth behind the Nine-Tails Night. That includes what happened with the Uchiha clan. What do you think?"

Naruto, in the middle of refining his body with physical training, was doing inverted push-ups when he heard the question. With a flourish, he launched himself into the air, wiped the sweat from his brow mid-flight, and landed in a cross-legged pose, seriously deep in thought.

He took every test Kazuki gave him seriously.

Half-assing the answer while training would've been disrespectful.

After a short pause, Naruto answered slowly, "These conflicts… they've been around since the village was founded. Starting with the First Hokage and Uchiha Madara, and then the Second Hokage creating the Military Police to keep the Uchiha in check…"

"By the time of the Third Hokage and the Nine-Tails Night, things only got worse."

"Maybe… maybe the Uchiha really were planning a rebellion?" Naruto said uncertainly.

"Like, maybe they were gonna ambush the Hokage? They did control most of the internal security, after all… If they went after the village leadership, they might've had a real shot at pulling it off…"

From deep within him, the Nine-Tails observed Naruto's calm analysis, and a flicker of satisfaction crept into the fox's grin.

Just a few months ago, Naruto had been nothing but a clueless little brat—pulling silly faces at the Ninja Academy to get attention from bored kids.

After receiving the combined guidance of Kazuki-san and me, Kurama-sama...

Naruto had finally grown into a kid capable of calm, rational thought.

Barely teachable—but teachable nonetheless!

A flicker of appreciation crossed Kazuki's eyes.

Now that he was receiving proper instruction, Naruto was like a dry sponge dropped in water—absorbing every bit of nourishment he could, growing at an astonishing pace…

No wonder he was Naruto—born to be the protagonist, a child of fate blessed with celestial fortune.

Without guidance, left to grow wild, he'd barely qualified as a Genin when he graduated at age twelve—and in just four years, he had reached a level beyond Kage.

Now, with Kazuki by his side, that growth rate would multiply exponentially.

And that was exactly what Kazuki wanted.

Naruto and the Nine-Tails—Kurama—were the vessels Kazuki had chosen.

The stronger they became, the more they defied their original fates—the greater Kazuki's ability to seize the power of this alternate timeline.

By now, Naruto's mindset had basically been set right.

All that remained… was the final blow: the Night of the Massacre.

Kazuki wanted Naruto to witness firsthand just how perilous the shinobi world truly was.

Even if you've done nothing wrong—not even once—even if you're just an old man flipping pancakes in the Uchiha compound, a single whim from Itachi could still mean the slaughter of your entire family.

The Night of the Massacre would be the perfect, visceral lesson on the true importance of power.

A lesson originally prepared by Uchiha Itachi for Sasuke—but Kazuki was going to make sure Naruto experienced it too.

In fact—

Kazuki planned to have Naruto bring Sasuke over to their side as well.

Two children of destiny, fighting together, would let them clear this world with the greatest possible efficiency.

After all, powerful enemies were approaching in Kazuki's original timeline.

Even though Kazuki had deliberately instructed Karasuki to choose the alternate reality with the widest time distortion—where ten years here equaled barely half a year back home—

Returning as soon as possible would still be ideal.

"I've been keeping an eye on someone from the Uchiha clan, Naruto," Kazuki said quietly. "Do you remember your classmate, Sasuke?"

Naruto blinked, then nodded with a blank look. "Of course I remember that stuck-up Sasuke... What about him, Kazuki-nii? Is there something special about that guy?"

"There was a time I thought he was a genius, but now? He's just... average at best."

Beside him, Kurama rolled his eyes dramatically.

This brat was a complete mess not long ago, and now he's out here calling other people average?

"So, what? You think Uchiha Sasuke has the same talent as Kazuki-sama?" Kurama said with a low, mocking tone. "Kazuki-sama himself once described his own talent as merely average…"

"You damn fox, don't twist my words!" Naruto shot Kurama a fierce glare.

"You're the one with the problem! Kazuki-nii was just being humble. Saying it like that—do you really believe he's only average? Sounds to me like that's exactly what you think!"

Veins pulsed on Kurama's forehead as he and Naruto launched into their usual round of bickering.

Kazuki chuckled softly as he watched the exchange.

"Ahem."

Kazuki cleared his throat lightly, and both Naruto and Kurama immediately fell silent.

"Uchiha Sasuke has an older brother. Sometimes he comes to pick him up after school…" Kazuki narrowed his eyes and said slowly: "I saw something buried deep in that Uchiha's eyes… hatred and madness, tightly concealed."

"Naruto, let's make him the subject of your next lesson."

"I'll show you the arrogance of the strong… and the sorrow of the weak."

...

Uchiha Clan Grounds, deep into the night.

A perfectly round moon hung high in the sky, with a few lazy clouds scattered across the heavens. The night breeze was calm and peaceful...

Ordinarily, this would be the kind of cool night perfect for enjoying the breeze.

But as two pairs of blood-red eyes emerged, the atmosphere suddenly turned… delicate.

Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Obito appeared together.

"Itachi, let's begin… Remember—make it clean, make it quick, and make it deadly. Kill them one by one without a sound. If Konoha is alerted, or if those useless Uchiha band together, things will get troublesome."

Uchiha Obito, wearing his earthen yellow whirlpool-patterned one-eyed mask, squinted as he stared coldly at the clan's fan-shaped emblem hanging throughout the district.

"If you want your little brother to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan… then you need to push this to the extreme. Understood?"

Itachi's expression shifted slightly.

So that's the misunderstanding...

This guy thinks I'm doing this for the pursuit of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan? That's why I'd go so far as to carry out a massacre?

Disgusting.

Inwardly, Uchiha Itachi spat in contempt at Obito. Just as his investigation had led him to suspect—

This enigmatic Uchiha might seem unique on the surface, but deep down, he was no different from the rest of the clan who believed Shisui was killed by him—men whose very bones had been soaked through with the narrow-mindedness of this pitiful bloodline.

'So that so-called organization he formed is probably just a band of fools as well...' Itachi muttered silently in his heart.

'But I do need to play this role in front of Sasuke… This shinobi world—and the village—are still too dangerous. In order for Sasuke to grow strong enough to protect himself, I must push him to gain power quickly…'

'Fine then. I'll just go along with this idiot's assumptions…'

After a quick moment of thought—

Itachi gave a cold nod. "Got it. But you—move fast."

Obito gave a flamboyant shrug, and with a body like a phantom, stepped into the Uchiha district.

Both of them carried gleaming, razor-sharp katanas in their hands.

And if nothing unexpected occurred tonight…

Those blades would soon be soaked in the blood of the Uchiha!
