Nathan didn't exactly cover up his tracks that well.
In any case, one of the reasons why he did that was because Nathan was actually hoping for these people to come and find him.
Because Nathan couldn't find out the magic warriors who are left.
He had already killed most of the magic warriors responsible for their deaths but there were still some people missing. These people were smart enough to hide away from him, not allowing Nathan to figure out any clues.
This made Nathan frustrated.
So the best way he could do to find them was to use himself as the bait.
It's dangerous, yes.
But Nathan didn't think that there was anything wrong with it.
