Chapter 287 - Chapter 278: The Festival of the Honeydrop Phoenix (1)

The honey is so thick around me that I'm surprised a swarm of eyes hasn't descended. And the US dairy farmers could shoot a commercial here with the famous tagline, "Milk. It does a body good."

Doing a ritual close to a river of milk and honey is a new one on me. Naturally, we aren't having the festival in the canyon. As Character Master's experience suggests, there is a reason that the citizens of Xanadu opt for the grassy and slick plain just outside the canyon. Close enough to the river without the risk of anyone falling in. 

Character Master, before the festival, makes the rounds, mixing and mingling and telling anyone who cares to listen about his dip in the sweet river. Witch a flair for the dramatic that I didn't know he possessed, he embellishes Red Bamboo's actions so that the man elbows him. Which, come to think of it, I remember the miscreant doing. Character Master is very strong. It would take a bit of a shove to send him tumbling over the edge.
