Chapter 20 - IT'S ME

I opened my eyes.

Nothing happened. I was still alive. Bonnie wasn't in front of me. In fact, nothing was there.

"What the fuck was that?" I said. My heart felt like it was going to leap right out of my body and explode into a million pieces. I've had enough of this fucking place. I could physically feel the sweat slide down my forehead, which I wiped with the neck of my t-shirt.

Despite another traumatic experience, I took a few minutes to calm myself. I swear, I'm not even going to die from the animatronics killing me—I'm going to die purely from the jumpscares they give. I took a deep breath and made my way out of the vent. I waited for any more surprise attacks to occur, but they never did. The rest of the way was an uneasy silence, occasionally interrupted by the sound of metal scratching or scampering from the rats crawling around.

It should be about time to start another hellish night when I reach the office. I find it weird how the Bonnie ordeal was the same as Foxy's. I closed my eyes, and they simply vanished with no trace. Almost as if they were ghosts. Or could they be hallucinations? Is work affecting me so much that I'm hallucinating? Or it could simply be the energy drinks.

Finally, I made it to the end of the vent. I felt relieved, as there were no surprises on the other side. I slid the VHS out first from my hand and stood up from my crawling position, brushing off the dust from the vents. Someone needed to clean them. I took the VHS tape that was on the ground and wiped the dust off it. Just like the rest of the VHS tapes, this one had a white paper taped to it. The paper read, "A." What set this tape apart was its worn appearance. Almost like someone didn't want anyone else to see the contents inside.

But seriously, is it just the letter "A"? That's it? Who is naming these tapes?

I disregarded the thought and sighed, making my way to the security office. It's about time to start my shift. Just one more night and I'm out of here, hopefully. Before I entered the office, I noticed the end of the hallway had another newspaper pinned on the wall.

Didn't I take the last one?

I shifted my way toward the wall in the corner of the hallway. I tore the newspaper from the wall and read the contents:

"Five children are now reported missing. Suspect convicted.

Five children are now linked to the incident at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where a man dressed as a cartoon mascot lured them into a back room. According to surveillance cameras, it happened after hours of the pizzeria's operation time.

The bodies were never discovered, but the suspect has been charged.

Freddy Fazbear's Pizza has been fighting an uphill battle ever since to convince families to return to the pizzeria.

"It's a tragedy,"—a local."

The story sounds about right. Still, it's sickening to read. I crumpled up the newspaper and stuffed it in the back pocket of my jeans. I turned and headed back to the office. Entering the office, I placed the VHS tape down on the table and sat on the security chair.

A gut feeling tells me that this night wasn't going to be easy. I mean, talking from experience, the nights have been progressively worse. Which brings another question. Was Afton controlling the animatronics, or is the imposter Golden Freddy? Either that or it could simply be a shared hatred of me, the same Afton has. But how would robots be able to feel hatred? Unless they're programmed to do so. But then again, it wouldn't really make sense. Nothing makes sense here. I ask questions, but they lead to nowhere.

I glanced over to the familiar clock to check the time.

It was 11:59 PM.

I sat up straight and took the security tablet from the table in front of me. With the remaining time I had left, I watched as the digital clock smoothly switched from 11:59 PM to 12:00 AM, marking the beginning of another night at Freddy's.

12:00 AM—Night 5…

Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!

Immediately, the phone rang.

"What?" I said. "How is that possible?" I pushed the speaker button, expecting to hear the familiar phone guy's voice. Instead, there was no phone guy. In fact, there weren't any words. What played through the speakers of the phone was garbled, demonic noises—similar to the animatronics. However, this was different. It was more violent and deeper in tone. It felt like the person on the other end was trying to communicate something. After a couple of seconds, the phone call briefly ended.

Could it have been the Golden Freddy imposter? The animatronics? Or could it be a secret message of some sort?

De dum de dum do…

Right. The night started. I powered on the tablet and searched the cameras.

Foxy already peeked through his cove with his metal hook separating the curtain, exposing some of his body. His jaw hung threateningly, showing his white teeth—ready to chomp off anything.

Bonnie moved rather quickly to the backstage room, and Chica was in the bathrooms.

Freddy remained deactivated at the main stage.

ha ha… ha ha…

The camera feed unexpectedly glitched, displaying Freddy staring expressionlessly at the dining area and then looking directly at the camera with his haunting, silver eyes.

Freddy's face was covered in shadows, only showing the outline of his familiar features. It added an eerie feeling that twisted my stomach. It was like Freddy was taunting me, subliminally telling me that this wasn't going to be an easy night.

Well, it didn't matter what he or the rest had in store for me. I am going to survive and get out of here.

I switched my attention to the other animatronics roaming about.

Foxy was getting ready to run, and Chica was in the kitchen, rattling pots away.

However, I couldn't locate where Bonnie ran off to. I wanted to keep searching, but I had to keep my eyes on Foxy; otherwise, I would get an unexpected welcome.

Like the phone guy said, Foxy is more active when nobody's paying attention to him.

However, by the time I clicked on the camera feed, Foxy was gone.

Immediately, the sound of pitter-patters became audible at the left door. I quickly closed the door before he could reach the office. He banged on it several times before returning back to his cove.

During that time, I observed my power level drop two percent after Foxy ran back to his cove. That was a giant drop. It might not be a lot to some people, but in this case, power is precious—It's literally what's keeping me alive at the moment. My question is how foxy was able to 'steal' power. Maybe when he bangs the door, it stresses it out more?

I opened the door to prevent power wastage.

I wanted to check the cameras again—However, footsteps approached the office from the right door. Diverting my attention, I flashed the light at the right door to find Chica present. Immediately, I closed the door upon seeing her.

ha ha… ha ha…

Freddy's moving, not good. I redirected my attention back to the cameras, locating Freddy in the dining room. Bonnie was luckily also there. Foxy was no longer visible since he retreated behind his curtains.

I checked the right door for Chica. She wasn't there anymore.

I opened the door and planned on checking the cameras again. However, I heard a sound.

Tap tap tap…

There it was again!

I flashed the hallway to find Bonnie standing in the doorway. Without a thought, I closed the door. However, when I checked the cameras again, Bonnie was still in the dining room.

How is that possible? If Bonnie was still in the dining room, then…

Who is the imposter standing at my left door?

I flashed the left door again and found the imposter Bonnie at the window, staring at me with his jaw hung slightly. Maybe this was the same Bonnie that was in the vent?

There was only one way to find out.

I forced myself to blink for a second.

The imposter Bonnie was gone.

Opening the door, I was relieved. However, this confirmed my theory that hallucinations were occurring. It didn't make sense at first why Foxy and bonnie both disappeared the moment I closed my eyes, but now I've pieced together the puzzle.

Unexpectedly, A high-pitched distorted laugh echoed across the pizzeria. It was the imposter Golden Freddy.

"You found it! You found my secret!" The imposter said. "Now, how will you respond when everything starts to unravel at once?"

But it had a point. How will I do against the hallucinations it throws at me? Especially since I'm limited on power. If I waste it on a hallucination instead of the real animatronic, it can get me killed.

This overall makes the night harder.

"Aw, don't be sad! T̵̤̔ḩ̴̈́̊ë̶̜́ ̷̩̓͐f̵̧̣̍̋u̸̪̒ń̶̛̥'̶͚͑͝s̶͚̋ ̷̭̉̇ͅo̶̲͈̕n̵̦͒̐l̵͈̮͋͝ý̶͜ ̶̱̋̉g̸̡̯̀e̶̢̛̺ṱ̷̰̓t̸͕̉͜i̵̙̕̚n̵͉̆͑g̷̨̽͝ ̵̪̀s̵̟͒̽t̵̗̂͑a̶̗̎͘ŕ̵͎̕t̵̲͉̆̈́e̸̝͊̚d̴͍̈̍͜!" The imposter said. The The The imposter's voice faded into a deafening silence, quickly replaced by the humming of office devices.

Foxy stealing power, and now hallucinations sent to distract me? What else could make this night worse?

ha ha… ha ha…

No time to think. I need to survive.

Before I checked the cameras, I flashed the left door again and found the real Bonnie staring at me through the window.

I instantly closed the door.

That trick could've easily killed me if I weren't paying attention. Freddy laughed to mask the sound of Bonnie walking down the hall to my door. They may be smart and thoughtful, but I know how to counter them.

I checked the cameras once again, finding Freddy in the right hallway, Chica in the dining area, and Foxy peeking out of his cove. I left the camera feed on Foxy while I checked my power and the time. I had 90%, and it was 1 AM.

I glanced over to the left door again and checked the window to see if Bonnie was still there. Bonnie was still there, staring at me with his silver eyes since it was dark in the hallway.

I then checked the right door and found nothing there. So far, it seemed everything calmed down for a bit. As long as I kept the camera on Foxy, he shouldn't move.

ha ha… ha ha…

I instantly closed the right door as Freddy moved from the hallway to my door. I am not sure why, but I notice that whenever Freddy moves, he laughs. It might be a bug, or it could simply be him taunting me. Whatever the reason is, it makes him easier to locate.

De dum de dum do…

I switched my attention quickly to the camera feed. Foxy's cove curtains were open fully, showing his body while he stared at the camera with his threatening, silver eyes.

Noting Foxy is preparing to run soon, I checked where the other animatronics were. Bonnie moved back to the dining room, and Chica remained away from the office, while Freddy was positioned in the corner of the hallway, staring closely at the camera. I guess he's waiting for me to open the door.

Which isn't going to happen, buddy.

I switched back to the Pirate's cove, finding Foxy has not moved yet.

With that, I opened the left door and glanced over at the clock. It was 3 AM. I also had seventy-five percent of power left; definitely better than last time.

ha ha… ha ha…

That means Freddy has moved—hopefully to a location away from the door. I checked the cameras again. Foxy remained in the same spot, while Freddy moved to the dining room, Chica was located in the right hallway, and Bonnie was found in the supply closet.

Before opening the right door, I flashed the light to check if Chica was there just in case.

Luckily, She wasn't. I opened the door.

De dum de dum do…

"Shit!" I shouted, quickly closing the left door just in time.

The quick footsteps that were approaching rapidly belonged to Foxy. As expected, he banged on the door again before returning to his cove.

A few seconds later and I'd be cooked.

I looked at my power percentage and found it had gone down from seventy-two percent to sixty-eight percent. That's four percent stolen! I thought it'd only be two percent.

Unless…

Would whatever Foxy stole from me previously be multiplied by two? If that's the case, then the next time he runs, I'll lose eight percent, and the next time it would be sixteen percent. This is not good at all. This mean I would need to watch—

Hhhhhhhooooooaaaaaahhhhhhh…

I spun the security chair swiftly and reacted to the noise from behind me.

It was Chica.

Chica towered over me—her mouth slightly open and silver eyes stared at me deep in my soul. I felt my throat tighten, my heart spike, and my breath become scarce. If I saw myself in a mirror, I'm pretty sure my eyes would be wide with fear. I froze. I got distracted, and now i have to pay the price. I didn't know what to do.

But that's when I remembered one thing.

I forced my eyes closed for a second before opening them up again.

Chica was gone. It was another imposter.

"You know Cassidy's lying. Why are you still taking her side? Why do you risk your life for her?" The imposter Golden Freddy whispered. The whisper bounced off the walls of the pizzeria until it vanished under the sounds of the office's electronics buzzing.

"And you expect me to believe you instead? The one who's been nothing but hostile!" I barked in response.

Nothing was given back, apart from silence.

Footsteps from the left and right doors became louder, grasping my attention. With haste, I closed them both and flashed the light. Both Chica and Bonnie were at the doors, staring at me with those piercing, silver eyes of theirs.

De dum de dum do…

ha ha… ha ha…

Dammit. Both Freddy and Foxy are moving.

I flipped through the cameras once again, finding Foxy readying himself for another run. Freddy was standing in the corridor, staring at the wall without expression. The posters to his left now featured the same weeping children from the previous night. Like before, I could hear children crying, but this time it was different. They were crying out of pain. Freddy turned his head to face the camera, and his jaw moved up and down like an animatronic as he laughed again.

ha ha… ha ha…

Was he asking for help? Maybe he's trying to communicate?

De dum de dum do…

Fuck. Foxy's coming again. Foxy pounded on the door once more and, as I predicted, took 8 percent of my power. My power went from 50 to 42 percent instantly. I looked at the time and found it was already 5 AM.

Just one more hour and I'm free!

The power percentage steadily started to get lower with both doors being used, but it should be enough. At least I hope so.

ha ha… ha ha…

I flashed the right door to check for Chica, but she wasn't there.

I did the same for the left door and found Bonnie gone as well.

I opened both doors, which helped decrease the speed of the power draining. If I play my cards correctly, I will make it out of here.

I checked the cameras once more, locating the animatronics. Foxy was back inside his cove—Bonnie, Freddy, and Chica were all in the dining room, staring at the camera. The way they stared at the camera was eerie.

It was like they were conscious.

ha ha… ha ha…

Beep! beep! beep! beep! beep!

6:00 AM…
