Inside Frieza's spaceship.
"Hm? More news about my dear brother again? Judging by the time, he should have arrived at Planet Yardrat by now, right? He's been lurking in my territory for quite a while now. Speak, Zarbon, what's the new development this time?"
Frieza obviously couldn't have imagined that Cooler had already been eliminated. He gracefully took a sip of the red wine before finally looking seriously at Zarbon, signaling him to speak.
"It's like this, Lord Frieza... Lord Cooler... he's dead!!!"
"I see… dead…"
The casual words had just left his lips when suddenly, Frieza's expression froze. His face stiffened, and he was unable to recover for a long time.
"You said… my brother Cooler is dead?!" Frieza, snapping out of it, asked in complete disbelief.
Cooler's strength far surpassed his own. Though he had never admitted it openly, Frieza knew it well in his heart.
Cooler is dead… doesn't that mean an unimaginably powerful enemy has appeared in the North Area?
"According to the reports from our planted informants, the one who killed Lord Cooler was… was… a Super Saiyan." Zarbon suppressed the fear in his heart and continued.
Upon hearing this news, Frieza's expression instantly turned ice-cold.
Super… Saiyan?!!!
Such a familiar and dreaded name.
For years, he had lived under the shadow passed down from his ancestor. Later, under the orders of God of Destruction Beerus, he personally exterminated the Saiyan race, crushing that so-called legend in its cradle, playing with the Saiyans in the palm of his hand like raising puppies.
"Could it be… those few Saiyans?!"
The question burst out, and Frieza's brow furrowed tighter and tighter.
He recalled those Saiyans he had encountered back then…
Over a year ago, Cooler came to the North Area and told him that he hadn't killed those Saiyans but had let them escape.
Frieza didn't believe it, but Cooler presented evidence. Especially during that month, he was repeatedly mocked by Cooler.
After that, even after helping Frieza eliminate stubborn forces in the North Area, Cooler didn't leave. He stayed behind secretly searching for the Instant Transmission technique used by those Saiyans…
Frieza paid it no mind, thinking Instant Transmission was nothing more than a technique for fleeing and disdained to obtain it.
Now, he suddenly felt he might have been wrong.
"The report clearly mentions it. It was indeed that Saiyan from before." Zarbon swallowed hard, so nervous his heartbeat was clearly audible.
As Frieza's Aide, he knew Frieza's emotions were on the verge of explosion.
He dared not be careless. If he died because of this, all his years of effort would be in vain.
Being second only to one and above all others, was no easy position.
After waiting anxiously for a long while without receiving any command, Zarbon had no choice but to speak up: "Lord Frieza, how should we proceed now? Should we… perhaps deal with the controllable Saiyans first…"
Mid-sentence, Zarbon didn't finish.
He could only remind, or perhaps do something foolish to divert attention. The decision, of course, had to be made by Frieza himself.
Frieza still said nothing, simply staring silently at Zarbon.
After a long time, he finally spoke.
"You may leave now, Zarbon. I need some time alone," Frieza ordered coldly.
"As you command, Lord Frieza." Zarbon did not hesitate and quickly turned to leave.
Only follow orders, never question.
That was his brilliance, and the very reason Frieza liked keeping him around.
As a supreme ruler, one always preferred subordinates who were intelligent, but not so clever as to become a threat.
If Zarbon had said even one word too many, it would have seemed presumptuous.
Watching Zarbon leave, Frieza's expression twisted rapidly into a terrifying, ferocious grimace.
"That monkey... in just a few short years he's grown this powerful, even managing to kill Cooler! From this, it's clear he'll soon be coming for me as well!" Frieza was no fool. His first reaction wasn't anger or denial, it was fear.
This time, it was Cooler who died. Perhaps because he went to Planet Yardrat, crossing some line.
But after what happened to Cooler, that Saiyan had likely already set his sights on him.
If he didn't act, the next to die might very well be him.
He had to prepare and increase his strength.
The same mistake must never be repeated. He would never allow himself to become the next Cooler.
"Hmph!! With my talent and potential, how could I possibly lose to you Saiyans! Just give me some time. After undergoing serious training, my strength will undoubtedly skyrocket!" Having made his decision, Frieza planned to return to his birthplace.
In their race, power levels were practically fixed at birth.
But that didn't mean they couldn't grow stronger through training.
Because they were born with unparalleled strength, strong enough to dominate the universe, there was never any real need to get stronger.
In the past, it was unnecessary. Now, he had no choice!
Super Saiyan wasn't just a nightmare of their race. It had now killed Cooler.
