"Why aren't you going to dance?" Lu Chenyuan asked Ou, wanting to know what the child was thinking.
"Why should I dance? Dress up like an ugly duckling to please those unfamiliar parents, while we're under the sun and the director sits under the shade."
Lu Chenyuan tightened his grip on the steering wheel, shifting his gaze to Lin Yan.
They were both surprised. At such a young age, Ou had such thoughts, already refusing to bow to the mundane.
"You can see it differently. Dancing is a way to participate in the group. You're not trying to please others; you're enriching yourself."
Lu Chenyuan reasoned with Ou, hoping he wouldn't only see the negative side of things.
Lin Yan asked, "Do you really dislike dancing?"
Ou nodded, "I don't want to do things I don't like. There are many ways to enrich myself that don't involve dressing up in costume and jumping on stage."
Lin Yan conceded, "Alright, you have the right to choose. I'll communicate with your teacher."
