Chapter 36 - The Rise of Zain

The sun was setting over the city skyline, casting a warm golden hue over everything. Saad sat in his luxurious apartment, feeling a strange sense of unease. He had it all—money, success, and Maya—but something wasn't right. He had always been the most successful among his friends, but now things were changing. Zain had quietly become a force in the stock market, and the whispers in the business circles were all about him.

Zain had always been a laid-back guy, content with his modest success. But over the past few months, he had made some incredibly smart investments. His name was now synonymous with high returns, and his financial empire was growing at an alarming rate. People were starting to compare him with Saad, and some were even saying that Zain had surpassed him.

Saad's phone buzzed, and he glanced at the screen. It was Fahad.

"Bro, have you seen the latest stock reports? Zain's killing it in the market. He's officially the richest guy in our circle now."

Saad stared at the message, feeling a pang of jealousy. He hadn't expected Zain to rise this quickly. It wasn't that he didn't want his friend to succeed, but something about being outpaced made him uncomfortable.

Just then, another message popped up, this time from Huzaifa.

"Yo, Saad! Guess what? Zain's throwing a huge party tonight to celebrate his new success. I'm heading over there. You coming?"

Saad clenched his jaw. Huzaifa, who had always been his rival, was now best friends with Zain. It was odd seeing them together, especially since Huzaifa had spent years trying to outdo him. But now Huzaifa had switched sides, probably sensing that Zain was the new king of the financial world.

Saad decided to attend the party. He needed to see for himself how much had changed. As he got ready, he couldn't shake the feeling that something significant was shifting in his life.

The party was at Zain's new mansion, which was far more extravagant than anything Saad had ever seen. The grandeur of the place made Saad feel like he was stepping into a different world. Crystal chandeliers, a massive pool, and a crowd full of people who were there to celebrate Zain's meteoric rise.

As Saad entered, he spotted Zain in the center of the room, surrounded by admirers. He looked confident, a stark contrast to the quiet, easygoing guy Saad had always known. Huzaifa was by his side, laughing and cracking jokes, clearly enjoying his new role as Zain's closest ally.

"Saad! You made it!" Zain called out, waving him over.

Saad forced a smile and walked over, shaking Zain's hand. "Congrats, man. Looks like you're doing really well."

Zain grinned, but there was a hint of something else in his eyes—something Saad hadn't seen before. "Thanks, bro. Yeah, it's been crazy. The market's been good to me."

Huzaifa chimed in, "Zain's a genius, man. He's got the Midas touch. Every stock he picks turns into gold."

Saad nodded, feeling the weight of Huzaifa's words. He had always been the one with the Midas touch, but now it seemed like Zain had taken that title.

As the night went on, Saad tried to mingle and enjoy the party, but he couldn't ignore the fact that things had shifted. Zain was now the center of attention, and Saad was no longer the top player. Even Maya noticed it when she arrived later in the evening.

"I can't believe how quickly Zain's risen," she whispered to Saad. "He's outdone everyone, even you."

Saad's chest tightened, but he nodded. "Yeah, he's done well for himself."

Maya gave him a concerned look. "Are you okay with that?"

Saad shrugged, trying to play it off. "Of course. Zain's my friend. I'm happy for him."

But deep down, Saad wasn't okay. He wasn't used to being second-best.

Later that night, after the party had died down, Saad found himself standing alone on the balcony, looking out at the city. He had achieved so much, but now Zain was the one everyone was talking about. The headlines were filled with Zain's success, and Saad was starting to fade into the background.

Just then, Huzaifa joined him on the balcony. Saad expected some snide comment, but instead, Huzaifa seemed different. There was no malice in his eyes, just a strange camaraderie.

"Crazy how things change, huh?" Huzaifa said, leaning against the railing. "Zain's the guy now. Who would've thought?"

Saad glanced at him. "Yeah, it's wild. But I guess that's life."

Huzaifa chuckled. "Don't take it too hard, Saad. You're still a legend in the game. Zain just had a lucky break."

Saad appreciated the sentiment, but it didn't ease the discomfort he felt. "Thanks, man. But it's more than luck. Zain's got real talent."

Huzaifa nodded, then smirked. "You know, I used to think I could beat you. But now that I'm friends with Zain, I realize there's no beating either of you. You guys are in a league of your own."

Saad laughed, though it was a bitter laugh. "Guess that makes us rivals again, huh?"

Huzaifa shook his head. "Nah, man. I'm done with that. I've got my own path now, and it doesn't involve competing with you."

Saad was surprised by the sincerity in Huzaifa's voice. Maybe things really had changed. Maybe it was time for him to stop seeing Zain as a competitor and just accept that they were both successful in their own ways.

But even as he thought that, he knew it wouldn't be easy. He had always been driven by competition, and now that Zain had surpassed him, he wasn't sure how to feel.

As Saad left the party that night, he couldn't shake the feeling that a new chapter in his life was beginning—one where he was no longer the king of the stock market, but just another player in a much bigger game.
