[Third person POV]
Melissa was instantly startled to see the destruction of the Asgardian forces that was brought on by a large purple figure, which of course was none other than Thanos. He was beating on the Hulk, overpowering him instantly and without remorse.
"Damn," Melissa muttered in disbelief, eyes wide. "Is he actually that powerful?"
Tony, lounging beside her with a bowl of popcorn, shrugged with casual amusement. "It's a common trope, you know? Show the villain beating the strongest hero to hype up how dangerous he is. Classic setup."
Melissa frowned but didn't take her eyes off the screen. The action didn't let up—Heimdall, gravely wounded, used what little strength he had left to summon energy and send Hulk hurtling back to Earth. As he collapsed, Thanos showed no mercy and impaled him with his massive blade, killing him without hesitation.
The scene shifted again, now focusing on Thor. The God of Thunder was bound and screaming in pain as Thanos tortured him using the Power Stone, demanding the location of the Tesseract. Thor stubbornly denied its presence until, in a moment that made Melissa's stomach turn, Loki slowly stepped forward, revealing the cube as it materialized in his hand.
"You… really are the worst, brother," Thor gasped, barely able to speak.
"The sun will shine on us again," Loki replied softly, almost like a farewell.
Melissa watched, eyes unblinking, her breath caught in her throat. She felt a sliver of hope rise as Loki made a move, attempting to stab Thanos in a surprise attack—but it was short-lived. With a crushing grip, Thanos seized Loki by the throat and squeezed the life out of him, lifting him into the air as his limbs went limp. With a sickening crack, Loki's body crumpled and fell to the floor like a rag doll.
Her jaw dropped. "No way…" she whispered, looking over at Tony. "Did that just—?"
Tony smirked and casually sipped his drink. "Spoiler alert… yeah, he's actually dead in this scene. For real."
"WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?!" Melissa shrieked.
Thanos destroys the remaining ship and teleports away but not before sending his children to earth and tasking them to retrieve the mind and time stone.
The scene cuts to Bruce falling and landing in the sanctum saturum where he met with both Strange and Wong and warned them of the upcoming crisis that was Thanos.
Strange and Banner find Tony Stark, who is having a date with Pepper Potts, and bring him to the Sanctum as well. Strange, Wong, Banner, and Stark discuss the Infinity Stones, eventually surmising that Thanos is looking for both the Time Stone, held in the Eye of Agamotto owned by Strange, and the Mind Stone, kept by Vision in his forehead.
"They're really good at setting up how ominous and scary this Thanos is." Melissa said, leaning forwards.
Banner insists that Thanos is the most formidable enemy they have ever faced, revealing that he was Loki's sponsor during the Battle of New York and will wipe out half the universe if he completes the Infinity Gauntlet.
Stark suggests simply destroying the Time Stone since they've got it on hand, but Strange refuses as he and Wong have pledged to protect it with their lives.
Banner asks where Vision is, and Stark admits that he's lost track of him and that Steve Rogers might know where he is. Stark brings Banner up to date with everything that has happened since he left Earth; the Avengers have disbanded, and he is no longer on speaking terms with Rogers.
Banner implores Stark to call Rogers, insisting that whatever happened between them doesn't matter compared to what is coming. Convinced, Stark takes out the phone Rogers sent him after the Avengers Civil War and prepares to make the call.
Before he can, however, an ominous hum rings through the air, accompanied by a change in air flow. A massive, ring-shaped Q-Ship hovers above New York City, causing panic and fear in the streets.
Melissa watched Tony transform into his Nanosuit for the first time and Melissa scoffed, "As cool and awesome as that was he's still far behind us when it comes to progression of suits"
"By the way, who's squidward? Some of these pop culture references really aren't hitting for me" Melissa said in confusion.
Tony held out his hand and showed her a hologram of Squidward and as soon Melissa saw it she burst out into laughter, "Alright, hahaha, I might not fully get it but even then that's funny"
Strange shuts the ship's engine down as Ebony Maw and another of Thanos' children, the hulking Cull Obsidian, approach them. While Strange, Stark, Wong and Banner confront the invaders, the Q-Ship is seen by Peter Parker on a school bus and he rushes in to investigate. A turbulent battle erupts in the streets, but Banner finds himself unable to transform into Hulk, despite his best attempts.
"Okay, wow… Thanos actually managed to give Hulk PTSD," Melissa muttered, watching as Bruce hesitated to transform, visibly shaken and unable to summon the Hulk again after his defeat. "How pathetic," she added with a pout, folding her arms in disappointment.
Tony slowly turned his head toward her, one eyebrow raised and confusion etched across his face. "You really don't like the Hulk, do you?"
Melissa pursed her lips and tilted her head slightly. "After the way he just ditched Nat and ran off into space without a word? No. No, I do not."
Tony blinked. "I thought you were more on board with the Steve and Nat ship?"
"Oh, I am," she replied, completely unbothered. "That doesn't mean I'm just gonna forgive Bruce for making Nat feel like absolute garbage. I have standards."
Tony rolled his eyes and gave an exaggerated sigh. "Melissa… Nat and Bruce are way past that. Let it go already."
Melissa chose to ignore him and turned her attention back to the movie with renewed interest, her expression lighting up as Spider-Man swung into the scene just in time to save Tony from being flattened by one of the Q-Ship's massive claws.
Onscreen, Wong began battling Cull Obsidian, expertly using his Sling Ring to trap the brute in the Arctic. Meanwhile, Ebony Maw managed to overpower Strange and escape with the Time Stone in tow. Unbeknownst to Maw, both Iron Man and Spider-Man had snuck aboard his ship, Peter now wearing his sleek Iron Spider suit for the first time.
Melissa's jaw dropped slightly at the sight. "Damn… that suit actually looks amazing! And those mechanical legs? Chef's kiss. Such a nice touch! Ohhh, I really hope it has built-in web wings, maybe some kind of stealth mode or—"
Tony gave her a side glance, amused as she launched into a full-blown tangent about what the Iron Spider suit could and should do. He didn't interrupt—just let her go on until she ran out of steam.
Back in the film, Wong returned to the Sanctum to safeguard it from further invasion, while Banner, realizing time was running out, picked up Stark's discarded flip phone. With no other option, he decided to make the call himself—to Steve Rogers.
The scene then shifted dramatically, transitioning from Earth to the cold emptiness of space. Thor, having miraculously survived the destruction of the Asgardian ship and exposure to the vacuum of space, was drifting unconscious until the Milano arrived. The Guardians of the Galaxy, having received the Asgardian distress signal, rescued him.
Melissa couldn't help but giggle behind her hand as Drax compared the two men in the room. "That is not a dude. That is a man," Drax said, pointing at Thor, clearly impressed. "You're a dude," he added to Star-Lord. "This… is a man."
Tony looked at her, brow raised. Melissa, sensing his gaze, turned to him and smirked. "What? Don't look at me like that. Drax has a point. Chris Hemsworth is… very appealing."
Tony's eyes narrowed. "Huh?! How did you—? Wait a minute, how do you even know who the actor is?"
Melissa kept a perfectly straight face. "I saw the names of the cast during the credits, Tony. It's not that hard."
Tony leaned back and coughed, clearly embarrassed and annoyed but trying to play it cool. "Well, I think Gamora's hot as hell and you don't see me making comments about it every five minutes. So maybe keep your reactions to yourself, huh?"
Melissa turned her head slowly, giving him a long, scrutinizing look before narrowing her eyes. "Oh really? Is that so?" she said coolly. "Well, go ahead then. Tell me, Tony. Tell me just how hot you think Gamora is. I want to hear every detail."
Tony stiffened, shifting slightly in his seat and refusing to make eye contact. "… I don't want to," he muttered, leaning to the side and pretending to focus more intently on the movie.
Melissa smirked triumphantly, crossing her arms with confidence. "That's what I thought, coward."
