Chapter 289 - Chapter 289: Around the World

[Third Person PoV]

Across the globe, the skies thundered with energy as the storm that once swallowed America began to lose its ferocity. Yet the battle against Ultron's chaos was far from over.

While Melissa stabilized the atmosphere above California, the Iron Legion—Tony and Melissa's joint network of autonomous and piloted Mark Suits—were already scattered across continents, answering distress calls and saving lives in every corner of the world.

From the Arctic's frozen wastes to the burning cities of Africa, red and gold streaks lit up the skies.

—The United Kingdom—

In the streets of London, where Ultron drones had overrun the Thames Bridge, a squadron of Mark units dove from the sky like shooting stars. The ground quaked as they landed, generating repulsion waves that disintegrated enemy bots instantly. As smoke cleared, one of the suits extended its hand, projecting hard-light barriers that shielded a group of terrified civilians.

"Proceed to the underground shelters," a calm female voice echoed from within the armor—belonging to none other than Friday. "Protection protocols engaged."

Above the city, Mark 21—codename Kinetic Armor—was locked in a midair dogfight with a swarm of corrupted Ultron drones. It fired pulse cannons that arced through the air like purple comets, slicing the enemy to ribbons before they could reach the civilians or the local heroes.

—Berlin—

Baymax hovered over a crumbling skyscraper, his armor-plated frame painted red and purple, eyes glowing with calm intelligence. "Protection protocol engaged," he announced in his polite, mechanical tone as he used his scanners to locate trapped civilians.

Below, a Mark 19 "The Iron Patriot" armor blasted through debris, catching falling citizens mid-air and safely lowering them with repulsor-assisted descent.

Baymax extended both arms, micro-drones detaching from his armor to create a solid energy barrier as explosions rattled nearby. "Please remain calm," he reassured as he carried three children to safety. "Your emotional distress levels are concerning but manageable."

Moments later, his sensors flared. Ultron drones swarmed over the skyline like locusts. Baymax's gentle tone shifted. "Combat protocol: activated."

His armor reconfigured—shoulder pods opening, plasma blades extending. With surgical precision, Baymax and the Iron Legion Mark 19 turned the skyline into a ballet of repulsor fire and red steel, cutting through Ultron's forces with calculated efficiency.

South America - Amazon Basin:

The rainforest burned. Massive trees cracked under the pressure of plasma fire as Ultron's terraforming drones sought to clear the land for unknown purposes.

Then the skies opened. Dozens of Iron Legion suits descended through the smoke, releasing hydro-pellets that detonated into torrents of rain. The downpour smothered the flames and restored life where there had been only ash.

The air shimmered with the blue hue of repulsors. Beneath the canopy, a single figure — an indigenous hero wearing ancient armor — raised a spear toward the sky in salute to the passing suits.

—Mexico—

The number one hero of Mexico stood firm, his arms spread wide as the mountain roared above him. A storm of stones, debris, and earth cascaded down like a vengeful tide. His Quirk—Rootbound—sent massive tendrils shooting out from the ground, weaving together into barriers of bark and root. But the sheer weight of the landslide was overwhelming.

"¡Maldita sea!" he shouted, his voice cracking as another wave of debris shattered his defenses. The earth beneath his feet trembled. "I can't—!"

Before he could finish, the sky cracked open with a thunderous boom.

Descending through the clouds came a streak of blinding purple light — the Mark 44: Graviton Armor. Its thrusters roared, and a ripple of gravitational distortion expanded from its repulsors. Boulders slowed midair, their momentum reversing as if gravity itself had been rewritten.

Jarvi's voice echoed through external speakers, calm but commanding and in spanish no less. "Everything is all under control, Amate Verde. The Iron Legion is here to help."

With a swift motion, the armor raised both hands, shimmering rings of energy forming around its wrists. A gravitational field surged outward — the entire landslide froze midair, every stone suspended in a shimmering violet haze. Then, with a subtle twist of the suits palm, the debris gently lifted upward, reversing its descent and scattering harmlessly into the atmosphere before being crushed into fine dust by immense pressure.

Amate Verde fell to one knee, watching in stunned silence as the chaos turned to stillness. The man who had been the pillar of Mexico's heroes for years couldn't help but grin.

And with that, the Graviton Armor blasted off, cutting a streak of purple light across the horizon.

---

—Hawaii—

The sky was a deep orange, ash clouds rolling over the island like a living beast. Rivers of molten lava spilled from the flanks of Kilauea, threatening to engulf the city below. Hawaiian heroes — Keahi, Tsunami Rider, and Leilani — were doing everything they could.

Keahi, his body glowing with molten cracks, stood at the lava's edge, creating counter-eruptions to redirect the flow.

Tsunami Rider, riding a wave of saltwater pulled from the ocean itself, crashed against the lava, creating massive plumes of steam.

Leilani hovered above, forming barriers of hardened light — but it wasn't enough.

"The magma pressure's too high!" she shouted over the roar. "It's going to blow!"

Then the air shook — not from the volcano, but from above.

A streak of blue and red light tore through the sky, descending like a meteor. The heroes shielded their eyes as the Mark 46: Thermal Dynamic Armor landed, releasing a shockwave of frost and vapor that instantly cooled the air.

Panels on the armor's back opened like vents, and the suit began absorbing the intense thermal energy from the lava. The glowing rivers dimmed as molten rock cooled around him, turning from bright orange to dull black stone.

The volcano rumbled — a final, furious roar — before the Mark 46 extended both arms, channeling the excess energy through its reactors.

Within the HUD of the suit, its scanners mapped out the entire structure of the Volcano. It's temperature, the magnitude of the eruption, etc…

A beam of pure blue energy exploded outward, washing over the mountain. In seconds, the flowing magma froze solid, a glacial crust forming over the crater. The eruption halted mid-burst, the entire volcano encased in a shimmering shell of crystalline frost.

Steam drifted through the air, turning the once-fiery hellscape into a silent, icy monument.

Keahi blinked, his jaw dropping. "He… froze a volcano."

The suit standing amidst the frozen terrain, looked around, systems still hissing with frost. "Stabilized thermal output. Containment successful," Friday's voice echoed, then looked up toward the heroes with a faint smirk visible through the armor's glowing eyes. "The boss at this time would say something quirky and overconfident… Stay Frosty"

They all just stared at Friday as she raised a thumbs up.

As emergency crews began to move in, the Thermal Dynamic Armor turned skyward again.

Friday's and Jarvis voice came through global comms, linking to every major hero agency:

"Disasters are hitting worldwide. The Iron Legion are doing everything in their power to assist. Keep your people safe — Let The Iron Man and Iron Maiden handle the rest."

The armor's thrusters flared blue and deep red, vanishing into the clouds as the world's crisis continued to unfold.
