Chapter 292 - Chapter 292: Hero Course Vs. Ultron

[Third Person Pov]

The first person to throw himself at Ultron was, of course, Bakugo Katsuki. The second the enemy appeared, Bakugo's instincts ignited like a lit fuse. His palms detonated with a storm of explosions, the sheer heat and light turning the battlefield into a blazing inferno. The mechanical wings attached to his hero suit spread open, releasing a roar of thrusters that propelled him through the air like a rocket.

In a blink, he was face-to-face with Ultron.

"DIE, YOU CHROME BASTARD!" Bakugo bellowed, voice cracking like thunder across the field.

As he slammed his palms together, the bracers on his forearm shifted and morphed, energy plates sliding into position until a cluster of weapon emitters hummed to life. The glow of stored power pulsed violently, building pressure like a miniature sun in his grasp. Then, with a flash that seared the eyes, Bakugo fired.

The resulting blast engulfed Ultron completely—a fiery cataclysm of heat, light, and plasma energy that turned the air white-hot. A deafening shockwave rippled outward, shaking the ground and forcing every hero nearby to brace themselves or be thrown off balance.

"You idiot! Have you forgotten our goal?!" Denki screamed over the roar of the explosion, but Bakugo was far beyond reason. The thrill of combat, of going toe-to-toe with one of the world's deadliest machines, was consuming him.

The firestorm around Ultron parted suddenly—a single beam of solar energy tore through it like a blade and smashed straight into Bakugo, sending him hurtling across the battlefield like a burning comet.

He crashed into the dirt, skidding and bouncing before finally coming to a stop. Smoke poured from his suit—but thankfully, it held. The armor had absorbed the brunt of the impact and redirected the heat into its internal energy reserves, refueling his systems even as he cursed under his breath.

While Bakugo regained his footing, the others launched their counterattack.

Todoroki unleashed twin torrents of fire and ice simultaneously, the air crackling as heat and frost collided in chaotic bursts. Denki Kaminari raised his hands and screamed, discharging over fifty million volts of electricity that illuminated the entire sky. Pixie-Bob and Monoma Class 1-B, slammed their palms into the ground, and pillars of earth erupted upward, converging toward Ultron from all sides like fangs closing around prey.

But Ultron moved with inhuman grace. His metallic form twisted and weaved between the attacks as if he were dancing—an elegant, deadly ballet of machinery. He retaliated with precise plasma blasts, each one fired from the tips of his fingers like guided lasers that cut through the air with terrifying speed.

Aizawa reacted instantly. His capture scarf snapped through the air, coiling around his students and yanking them out of the line of fire. Asui used her tongue to grab two others and pull them back, while Sero fired off strips of tape to catch those who couldn't move fast enough.

Behind Ultron, Midoriya's blackwhip tendrils shot out from his arms like living shadows, wrapping tightly around the android's torso. Shoji, Sato, and Tiger appeared beside him, each gripping one of the blackwhips. Together, they pulled with every ounce of strength they had, dragging Ultron down toward the earth.

The ground beneath Ultron softened—Pixie-Bob had turned it into quicksand, trying to bury him completely. But the attempt failed almost immediately; Ultron's body blazed with inner heat, glowing from within as if molten metal ran through his veins. With a concussive burst of energy, the earth exploded outward, sending chunks of molten rock and shards of debris flying in every direction.

The shockwave scorched skin and armor alike. Several students were thrown clear across the battlefield, their bodies tumbling through smoke and dust.

From across the chaos, Momo Yaoyorozu caught a glimpse of Ultron's eyes—they burned a murderous crimson, locking onto Midoriya.

Her heart skipped a beat. "Ojiro! To Iida!" she shouted, quickly forming a vibranium replica of Captain America's shield from her creation quirk and tossing it into the air.

Ojiro's tail slammed into the ground, propelling him upward. With a powerful flick, he redirected the shield, sending it hurtling toward Iida, who was already sprinting across the battlefield, thrusters blazing.

Midoriya's Danger Sense screamed in his head like a siren. He didn't even have time to yell before Ultron pivoted, both arms raised.

Ultron unleashed a beam of pure solar fire, the ground melting red-hot in its wake as it carved a devastating line across the battlefield.

Iida slid into position, holding the shield in front of him. His Engine Quirk roared, creating a counterforce that pushed against the oncoming blast. Sparks and flames cascaded over the shield's surface before Iida redirected the energy forward, bending it back toward Ultron like a blazing mirror.

The redirected blast struck Ultron dead-on, slamming him across the battlefield and gouging a glowing trench through the scorched earth.

As the smoke cleared, Ultron slowly pushed himself up, his metallic jaw twitching in irritation. "That shield... why can't I ever escape that infernal shield?" he muttered darkly.

"Everyone—all at once!" someone yelled amid the chaos.

Every hero responded instantly.

Mina Ashido launched a wave of corrosive acid that hissed through the air. Aoyama fired a radiant laser blast from his navel. Denki added another jolt of high-voltage lightning, and Todoroki fired off a storm of ice and flame. Manga Fukidashi shouted "BOOM!"—and the onomatopoeia literally exploded outward in a burst of force. Overhead, Bakugo rained down a barrage of midair explosions, strafing Ultron's position like a fighter jet.

The combined might of Class 1-A and 1-B collided in a blinding crescendo of power, shaking the very foundations of the battlefield.

But Ultron had had enough.

"ENOUGH!" he roared, his voice reverberating like a god's wrath. A sphere of solar energy erupted from his chest, expanding outward in a wave of molten light. Every attack—acid, lightning, ice, flame, sound—was disintegrated in an instant. The ground itself cracked and split, forming a massive crater of smoldering earth with Ultron standing tall and untouched at its center.

Smoke drifted around his silhouette like a shroud, his red eyes glowing brighter than ever.

Ultron began to levitate from the cracked, smoking crater. The ground beneath him trembled as if recoiling from his very presence.

From the seams of his metallic body, blinding white and golden light pulsed outward, spilling from every joint and fissure like molten sunlight trying to burst free. His eyes glowed brighter and brighter until it was impossible to look at him directly.

He stood suspended in midair, arms spread, energy rolling off him in radiant waves that made the entire battlefield shimmer. For a brief, terrible moment, he looked less like a machine and more like a newborn star, divine and merciless.

When he finally spoke, his voice was calm, steady — but brimming with contempt.

"I have no time to entertain children," Ultron declared, each syllable vibrating through the air like a sonic boom. "I came for Stark, but it seems he ran off. A shame… I will have to miss the look on his face as I incinerate you all to ashes."

Aizawa's eyes widened as the light on Ultron's chest began to intensify. "Everyone take cover!!" he shouted, panic breaking through his normally composed voice.

But they were too late.

Ultron unleashed a blinding detonation — a burst of solar fury that swallowed everything in sight. The world turned white. The ground cracked, air ignited, and a wave of energy expanded outward like a miniature sun going supernova.

Everyone screamed and shielded their eyes. The light was unbearable, stinging through eyelids, searing retinas, and filling the air with a soundless roar. Tokoyami collapsed to one knee, his Dark Shadow writhing and retreating into his body, overwhelmed by the radiance.

For several seconds, it felt like the world itself was ending.

Then… nothing.

No pain. No disintegration. Only the sharp ringing in their ears — and then, cutting through it, the piercing scream of Tooru Hagakure.

"AAAAAAAAH!!"

Everyone forced their eyes open despite the agony of the light. Through the swirling dust and heat, they saw her — Tooru, the Invisible Girl, was now anything but invisible.

She was standing in front of Ultron, arms spread wide, her body absorbing the blinding light pouring from his form. The light bent toward her like water drawn into a vortex, her silhouette burning brighter and clearer by the second.

And she wasn't alone.

Beside her, Bakugo was screaming in exertion, his palms outstretched as the heat and plasma flowed into his armor. The wings of his suit flared open, glowing like molten steel. He was forcing the thermal energy inward, his entire body trembling as he fought to contain the impossible temperature.

Together, the two of them formed a barrier, absorbing and redirecting Ultron's cataclysmic power. The air rippled with distortion, heat haze, and violent wind.

When the last of the light faded, smoke drifting around them. Ultron's attack had been completely neutralized.

And then the crowd gasped.

Tooru's body was now glimmering like a living prism. Her skin refracted light into every color imaginable, her form shimmering like she was made of diamonds. Her hair, wild and luminous, shimmered with rainbow halos as particles of pure energy danced around her. She looked like a celestial being, fragile and fierce all at once.

Beside her, Bakugo looked like the embodiment of a supernova. His armor glowed red-hot, vents steaming from every surface, the air around him warping from the residual heat. His chest rose and fell heavily, sweat pouring down his face inside the visor, but his eyes burned with defiant fire.

The two of them slowly floated higher, charged beyond their limits, their combined energy humming through the battlefield.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!" Tooru screamed, her voice trembling with both pain and determination. Bakugo mirrored her, roaring with the kind of fury only he could muster. His hands came together, focusing every ounce of volatile energy into a single burning point between his palms.

"THIS IS FOR TONY!!" Tooru cried, light streaking from her glowing eyes. "PLUS… ULTRAAAAAA!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Bakugo's laughter was manic, wild — half triumph, half release — as his and Tooru's attacks merged into one colossal beam of incandescent power.

The fusion of light and explosion tore through the air, a spiral of blinding brilliance and fire, colliding straight into Ultron. He raised his arm to shield himself, generating a desperate energy field — but the combined might of Bakugo's raw force and Tooru's refracted energy overwhelmed it completely.

The shield shattered like glass. The explosion swallowed Ultron whole and slammed him into the ground, the impact carving a glowing crater of fire and molten earth.

The resulting blast was magnificent — a spectacle of destruction and artistry, light and flame intertwining into a kaleidoscope of color that lit up the horizon.

When it finally ended, the battlefield was quiet save for the crackling of scorched earth.

Tooru, drained of her strength, began to fall. Her glow dimmed as gravity took hold. "Waaaah!! Catch meeeee!!" she cried, flailing her arms helplessly.

Without hesitation, Bakugo dove after her, smoke trailing from his boots as his thrusters screamed. He caught her midair, spinning once before landing roughly on the cracked ground.

"Hehehe… thanks," Tooru said breathlessly, rubbing the back of her head with a sheepish grin. Her body still shimmered faintly, tiny motes of light breaking off her skin like stardust.

"Anyway, that was so cool!! We make such a great team, come on!" she beamed, raising her hand for a high five.

Bakugo scowled, crossing his arms, but Tooru just wiggled her fingers, eyes sparkling with playful insistence. "I know you want to~"

With a frustrated groan, Bakugo finally slapped her hand.

The sound echoed through the silence.

"WOOOOOAH!! DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT?!" Tooru spun around, pointing at him dramatically. "BAKUGO ACTUALLY HIGH-FIVED ME!!"
