Third Person's POV (Point Of View)
The two girls sat in silence, staring at the lake before them. "Do you think they are looking for us?" Ha-ri whispered to Ji-seo.
Ji-seo let out a sigh, "Probably. I mean, it's bedtime already, so they might have done a head count and noticed that we aren't there."
Ha-ri nodded her head, "Yeah, you're right. But what is taking them so long? It's starting to get scary out here. What was that?!" Ha-ri said with fright after she heard a noise.
"That's an owl hooting. There's nothing to be scared of," Ji-seo said with a smile. "What if... What if it's a wild animal? Or a ghost?" Ha-ri stammered out.
"It's nothing. Stop thinking too much. Come here, I'll protect you," Ji-seo said while reaching her arms out.
Ha-ri gave her a huge smile and let out a sigh. "Thank you, Ji-seo," she said softly, cozzling up into Ji-seo's hug.
"Hey, I was meaning to ask you. You and Taemin are awfully close nowadays," Ha-ri stated, looking up at her best friend's face.
"It's nothing. We're just friends. Nothing more, nothing less," Ji-seo stated with a small smile. Ha-ri nodded her head and adjusted her head back to her previous position, "Your friendship with him really changed him. I can't believe how close we are now, considering the fact that he tried to unalive my boyfriend. Even Dae has forgotten what happened, like it was nothing."
Ji-seo let out a light chuckle, then looked down at her friend's face, "You guys are so cute together. But also cheesy," Ji-seo added. Ha-ri moved out of her hug to stare at her with a teasing smile, "You're just jealous."
"Jealous? Don't be delusional-" Ji-seo paused when she heard a branch snap. Her head turned sharply towards the sound, and she quickly became alert.
"Who's there?!" She yelled out and quickly grabbed a branch from the ground, pointing it in that direction like a sword.
Ha-ri, in shock, stood behind her and held on to Ji-seo's shirt tightly. Ji-seo stared in that direction fiercely, waiting for that person to reveal themselves.
"What if it's just an animal?" Ha-ri whispered. Ji-seo's tensed body relaxed. "Oh, I didn't even think of that," she said awkwardly, tossing the branch away.
"And you were the one who was teasing me earlier," Ha-ri teased. Ji-seo shook her head, "I thought it was someone-" she paused again when she saw a figure standing where they had passed earlier, their hands in their pockets.
Her body tensed up again, and she quickly went into fight-or-flight mode. "Ha-ri," she whispered, "Start running."
"Are you crazy?! I can't just leave you!" Ha-ri whispered harshly. "Maybe you can get some help," Ji-seo whispered back.
"Oh, like I would actually know where I'm going," Ha-ri shot back. The figure flashed a flashlight at the girl's face, making them jump in fright.
"What are you guys doing?" The figure said. Ha-ri and Ji-seo looked at each other in shock. "Doesn't that voice sound familiar to you?" Ha-ri whispered. Ji-seo nodded in agreement, "I was thinking the same thing."
The figure who clearly had the bodily proportions of a guy started walking towards them, making them back up with each step he took.
"STAY BACK! I'M A BLACK BELT IN TAEKWONDO! YOU DON'T WANT TO MESS WITH US!" Ha-ri yelled at the man approaching them. He stopped at her words, and both girls thought that scared him.
"No, you're not. You didn't even do taekwondo," he said with a scoff. Ha-ri gulped nervously. "Who the hell is this man, and how did he know I never did taekwondo?" She whispered harshly.
The man turned the flashlight to his face, and the girls were relieved to see Min-ho. "Oh, thank God it's you. I thought it was a stranger," Ha-ri let out a deep breath.
"My voice wasn't enough to tell you who I am?" He asked with a raised brow. "Anybody can have your vocal tone," Ha-ri said defensively.
"How long have you guys been here?" Min-ho asked with a confused face. "That doesn't matter; what matters is that we want to lie in the comfort of our camp beds. You know the way back, don't you?" Ha-ri asked hopefully.
"Yeah. Let's go," Min-ho said before quickly glancing at Ji-seo and starting walking back from where he came.
The girls followed closely behind but bumped into Min-ho's back when he abruptly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Ji-seo asked, hoping it wasn't what she thought it was. He turned to them with a nervous smile, and that's when Ji-seo realised that her thoughts were right.
"Don't tell me... No way..." Ha-ri said in disbelief. "Don't panic, I'll call our teacher right away," he said before calling Mr Song.
His face twisted from calm to slight panic. The girls immediately knew something was wrong. "What happened?" They both asked.
"I can't get through him. I'll try calling Ms. Choi," he said before calling Ms. Choi. The girls held their breaths, hoping that she would pick up her phone.
"Her number is busy," he said, disappointed. Ha-ri fell on the floor, "I thought you said you knew the way back!" She yelled at him.
"I thought I did. That looked like the tree I passed earlier," Min-ho said, pointing to a tree. The girls looked at where he was pointing and looked back at him in disbelief.
"We are surrounded by trees, you idiot. THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!" Ha-ri yelled out again. Min-ho realised that they were in fact surrounded by trees that looked like his 'landmark'.
"Oh," he said defeatedly. "Oh? OH?!" Ha-ri repeated angrily, stood up from the ground, and was about to launch herself at Min-ho, but Ji-seo quickly held her back.
"Save your energy. We need to find a way to reach the others," she said to her friend, trying to soothe her.
"Let me go!" Ha-ri said angrily, struggling to free herself from Ji-seo. "How are you so strong?" She asked after giving up.
"Do you promise to calm down and not do anything too rashly?" Ji-seo asked slowly. Ha-ri glared at Min-ho once more before letting out a sigh, "Okay. I promise."
Ji-seo held her for a few seconds after confirming that she had indeed calmed down, then let her go.
"Give me your phone," she said to Min-ho, reaching her hand out to take his phone. He looked at her cautiously before asking, "What are you going to do?"
"I'll call Taemin," she said before sitting down on the ground. Min-ho shook his head, "That's not going to work, he won't pick up. And besides, I don't have his number."
Ha-ri shot him a glare, "Well, we'd better try something!" Min-ho shut his mouth after that and stared at Ji-seo patiently.
Ji-seo removed her SIM card from her phone and inserted it into Min-ho's phone, and quickly called Taemin. Luckily, he picked on the 2nd ring.
"What's up, Angry Bird?" He said with a smile. "Hey, uh, I'm lost in the woods, with Ha-ri, and Min-ho. So can you come and save us, and also come along with Mr Song? Thank you," she said.
"Wait, what?" Taemin said in shock. "Yeah, please hurry. Ha-ri and I have been here for the past 1 hour, I think, and I tried reaching through to you guys, but I couldn't, and I called Min-ho before my phone battery died, and luckily, he came to help us, but we got lost, and we can't find our way back, and I had to insert my SIM card into his phone to call you, so please hurry up and save us," Ji-seo quickly explained.
"Okay, I'm on my way," he said quickly. "Don't forget to come along with Mr Song!" Ji-seo reminded him before ending the call.
She looked up to them with a smile on her face, "And now we wait." Ha-ri turned to Min-ho with a smug smile on her face, "See? Did he pick up or not?"
