Jay and Jace quietly moved to the couch near the bed and sat down. Neither of them spoke. Neither of them even shifted much, as if any movement might disturb the fragile calm in the room. The soft light fell over Bella's sleeping face, her breathing finally slow and even, though her fingers were still clenched tightly around Leo's hand, refusing to let go even in sleep.
It took a long while before Leo was sure she was truly asleep.
Only then did he lift his gaze toward Jay and Jace. His eyes looked tired now, the sharp edge dulled by exhaustion and worry.
"You two can go home," Leo said quietly.
Jay shook his head immediately, almost offended. "No, brother. We'll go together with Bella," he said firmly, then smiled softly. "We can take care of her too."
Leo looked at them for a moment. Something in his expression eased. The tightness in his jaw loosened just a little as he took in their faces, their concern, their sincerity.
