Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 3

LAURA HIGGINS

You wake up with a huge hangover, in an unknown room that you find really familiar but still can't tell where you are.

You had expected Duncan to take advantage of your drunkenness, you had expected to wake up in his bedroom, you had expected to see your head rested on his chest as the after math of your intense "love making."

What you had not expected was to wake up in your a room In your mother's house, in your childhood bedroom, untouched, unfucked, unnaked.

You try to sit up but you can't, You try to stand and you fall back down. Luckily for you, it's Saturday and you don't have to work until 12pm.

Your daughter, Mother and Sister walk in minutes later asking you to give them deets on your previous night date, You shun your daughter for asking such questions at such an age.

She reminds you that she turns 13 in 2 months, and that she heard conversations between her aunty Stella and her boyfriend Charlie.

You stare at Your sister and she mouths a sorry to you, You explain to them that nothing happened and that they should leave you to rest a little, they don't seem to believe you but you don't care.

You ask your sister to get you some painkillers and water, your mother sits beside you massaging your scalp, after a while she starts to remind you of how horribly single you were, how you were making zero efforts to change your situation, how your daughter was without a father, how your baby daddy abandoned you, how you had let passion override you, how you'd ruined your daughter's life and finally how you never listened when she'd warned you about your ex boyfriend.

You are not saddened because you knew these were facts, you constantly blamed yourself for ruining your daughter's chances at having a perfect child hood, you are saddened by the constant reminder of what you should and should not have done, by your mother, your sister, your friends, by everyone.

You were saddened because whenever your daughter asked about her father you had to lie, that he was dead and that he'd have loved to meet her, you had to lie knowing that someday she'd know the truth and hate you, you had to lie knowing that her father used to live 4 blocks away before he moved back to Chicago.

You had to live with the terror of someday that her father would return to claim her, and then Sharr would leave with him knowing that you were a liar for the rest of her life.

You ask your mom to leave you alone, to stop making fun of you, you reminded her that she was also a single mom like you, but then you remember that unlike you, your mother had told you the plain truth about your father.

Your mother had never been scared of consequences, she always told you how much she hated your father and that made you despise him too for her sake.

You refused to attend his funeral, you refused to acknowledge the properties he had left behind for you because you wanted your mother to be happy despite how badly you needed it.

Your mother has gotten married to Stella's dad, Higgins when you were 9, Until that day, He was a good father to both you and your sister.

Aside that he made it clear and reminded you of how he wasn't your father, how you were a bastard whenever you acted rebellious.

Later on, he and your mother got a divorce and your mom moved back to Boston where you all live.

You start to cry and she hugs you, she tells you that crying solves nothing, She reminded you that you were not supposed to cry, she wiped your tears and once again reminded you of how she'd suffered to train you after your father had left and your grand parents had disowned her.

She reminded you of how lucky you were to have someone to support you, you knew she was right, you knew how she held your hands when you bore Sharon, how she nursed Sharon for you whilst you recovered from child birth.

You knew that you owed it to her, you promise her that you'd try your best, you lay back down because you have a headache and after she massages your scalp for a while she leaves.

DUNCAN DREW

With eyes closed, You touch the side of your bed constantly, hoping to feel Layla's naked body beside you, but all you feel is emptiness, you move higher and feel something, soft and plump, you wonder if it's Layla's ass.

You squeeze,

And squeeze. Hoping for a reaction but you get none.

You decide to open up your eyes, you find yourself constantly squeezing a pillow and your hard on totally disappears.

You remember how the previous night played out, how you dropped Layla off, without even as much as a kiss on your lips.

You regret not ravishing her at the restaurant, you are very sure that she'd have loved it, but still you can't help but reminisce on the previous night, Just you and your Layla in your car, you remember how her clothed chest felt against your chest when you carried her up the stairs at her mothers place.

Her cologne still filled your mind, it was definitely a Hermain Vintage Classic perfume, it was your perfume too, she'd loved the scent of it on you and started to buy it for herself, but the perfume smelt like heaven on her.

It smelt of luxury only. but with her, it became a mix of flowers and honey plus luxury.

~~~
You get downstairs and meet Mrs Smith your cook, and housekeeper. She greets with a smile and tells you to get ready for breakfast.
She serves you your usual, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin muffins and some fruit parfait.
Your mind is still focused on your thoughts of Layla so you have a bite of your muffin, finish your parfait and leave.
You get to your empty office at 11:36 am, You don't work on weekends but you want to make sure Layla is fine.
You know she gets in at 12 so you decide to wait, pacing around the room.
A couple of minutes after 12 she arrives.
LAYLA HIGGINS
You get to your work a little late, because Sharr had a stomach ache, you had to ignore your hangover and take her to the hospital, the doctor had informed you that she had a minor food poisoning and would be just fine.
Sharr as always, threw a tantrum over taking her meds, so again you had to make her take them, You still had to drive home, wear some work clothes, pick up a few files that you had to work on, Have your bath and act like everything was fine when you were clearly battling with a headache.
You were already on the verge of losing it when your car had started to act up, you had to take a taxi from your house to the office.
You rush into the office after your fight with your taxi driver who'd over charged you for the 10 minutes ride, the ride usually costed $17 but Big ol' Jasper decided to top up 3 extra dollars to the price.
You had ended up paying $19 after giving him a couple of punches (wink), You meet Duncan's stare as you walk into your office.
You hadn't expected to see him today, after all he didn't work on weekends, or was he here to mock you for getting drunk on the date?
You decide to totally ignore him, you sit at your desk, take out your mirror and arrange your hair.
You notice that he keeps staring at you, but you decide not to budge.
You start to work on the files he'd handed you the day before, then he grunts. You ignore.
He grunts again, you ignore.
Then He coughs, you cough back.
The copying contest began, he coughed and you coughed, you grunted and he grunted, you faked a laugh and he did too, You yelled and he yelled too, He sighed and you sighed too, You yelled for him to stop and he did.
You ask him why he's bothering you? And he asks why you're upset with him?
You ignore the question and proceed to tell him how bad your day was, you tell him what happened to Sharr, he apologizes to you, You tell him how your car acted up, how the taxi driver over charged you and of course he laughs and calls you ridiculous, You tell him that you also have a headache and he begins to panic as always.
He asks you if it's from your period or if you felt sick. You tell him that you were just stressed and needed rest.
Then he calls a Taxi and Sends you home.
