As the soft click of the door echoed through the apartment, Seph finally allowed himself to relax. The night had been⦠exhausting.
Natalia's curiosity had been satiated for now, but Seph knew that wouldn't last long.
"She's smartā¦" He murmured softly, running a hand through his hair as he sank onto the couch. "Too smart."
His eyes gleamed in the dim light of his apartment, reflecting a strange mix of relief and caution.Ā
"At least that's one problem taken care ofā¦" He sighed, his body finally beginning to relax.
But just as his eyes began to drift shutā¦
"Tsk, tsk, tskā¦"
A playful, sing-song voice echoed through the room, sending a shiver down Seph's spine.
"Fooling a poor little girl like thatā¦" The voice was teasing, dripping with amusement. "Such a heartless man."
Seph's eyes snapped open, a deep groan escaping his lips.
"Oh⦠come onā¦" He muttered, his head falling back against the couch. "Really?"
"Really."
The room grew colder, and the air itself seemed to shimmer as a figure emerged from the shadows. She didn't walk ā she glided, her every movement as fluid as silk and as graceful as a predator.
Lady DeathĀ was breathtaking.
Her long, raven-black hair cascaded down her back in waves that shimmered in the dim light, her skin pale and flawless like porcelain. Her eyes⦠those haunting, amethyst orbs gleamed with a mischievous light as she looked down at him, her full lips curled into a playful smile.
Tonight, she had chosen to manifest in her most seductive form ā a body that was impossible to ignore.
A skintight black dress hugged her curves perfectly, dipping dangerously low at the neckline while the slit on her side left very little to the imagination. She wore it effortlessly as if she was born to bring men to their knees.
"You knowā¦" She purred, her voice like velvet, as she approached him. "If you had just told her who you really areā¦"
She leaned down, her face mere inches from his, her breath brushing against his lips. "She would've bowed to you instantly."
Seph's jaw clenched as he forced himself to keep his gaze locked on her face ā not on the overwhelming temptation she presented.
"You're impossibleā¦" He muttered, a hand rubbing his temple as if trying to ward off a headache.
"And you're adorable when you're annoyed." Lady Death giggled, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she straightened up, giving him a full view of her dangerously seductive form.
"I told youā¦" Seph's voice was calm but firm. "I don't like people worshipping me."
Lady Death tilted her head, her lips curling into a smirk.
"And that, darlingā¦" She purred, stepping closer until she was standing between his legs, her fingers trailing lightly over his jaw. "Is exactly why you were chosen."
Seph's eyes narrowed slightly, his body tensing at her touch.
"Chosen?" He echoed softly, not wanting to talk about it.
Lady Death's smirk deepened. "You have the power to do anything, Seph."
She traced a finger down his chest, her voice dropping into a sultry whisper. "You're a god. Entire civilizations would bow at your feet⦠worship you⦠die for you."
Seph caught her wrist gently but firmly, stopping her teasing movements.
"And I don't want that." His voice was steady, his gaze unwavering. "That's not who I am."
Lady Death's eyes softened for a moment, genuine admiration flickering beneath her playful facade.
"Maybe that's why you're so different." Her smile was softer now, almost⦠fond. "You don't crave power. You don't seek control."
Seph's lips twitched into a faint smile.
"Noā¦" He murmured. "I just want to live in peace."
"And yetā¦" Lady Death's voice grew more serious, her playful demeanor fading. "Peace isn't something that comes easily to men like you, Seph."
Seph's gaze darkened, his instincts immediately on high alert.
"I take it you didn't come here just to tease me tonight." His tone was cool, and calculated.
Lady Death's smile returned, but it was laced with something⦠darker.
"You're sharp as ever." She purred softly, stepping away and turning her back to him. "No⦠I came because there's⦠a situation."
Seph's eyes narrowed. "A situation?"
"Mmmā¦" Lady Death's voice was almost⦠hesitant. "Some⦠beings⦠have started to notice your presence."
Seph's expression hardened instantly. "Who?"
Lady Death turned her head slightly, her amethyst gaze meeting his golden one. "Beings that you don't want to cross paths with⦠not yet, anyway."
Seph's jaw clenched.
"Let them come." His voice was low, dangerous. "If they come with respect, fine. If notā¦"
His eyes gleamed with raw power. "I'll teach them their place."
Lady Death's lips curved into a small smile. "I knew you'd say that."
"Butā¦" Her tone grew somber again, her expression serious. "It's not you I'm worried about, Seph."
Seph's brow furrowed. "Then what?"
Lady Death's gaze was unreadable, her voice barely above a whisper.
"The balanceā¦" She murmured softly. "The balance of the universe itself."
Seph blinked, his expression shifting slightly.
"Balance?"
"You're⦠different." Lady Death's voice was almost⦠reverent. "Your existence alone tips the scales, Seph."
Seph rubbed the back of his neck, his expression growing more irritated. "Great⦠as if I needed more responsibility."
Lady Death giggled softly, her smile returning.
"Poor thingā¦" She teased, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
"And?" Seph pressed, his patience running thin. "Who's been watching me?"
For a moment, Lady Death was silent, her expression unreadable.
"Ahā¦" She finally murmured, a knowing gleam in her eyes. "So you noticed."
Seph's jaw clenched. "Of course, I noticed."
His tone was cold, his golden eyes flashing dangerously. "Who is it?"
Lady Death's lips curved into a wicked smile. "A⦠curious little creature."
Seph's patience snapped. "Spit it out, Death."
Lady Death giggled, clearly enjoying his frustration.
"Fine, fineā¦" She purred, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"The one watching youā¦" She paused, her voice dripping with amusement.
"Is called⦠the Watcher."
Seph's brow arched, his eyes narrowing. "Watcher?"
Lady Death nodded slowly. "They belong to an ancient celestial race. Their job is simple."
"To watch."
Seph's jaw clenched, his eyes narrowing into dangerous slits.
"To watch?" His tone was filled with barely contained irritation.
"Yesā¦" Lady Death's voice was smooth, but her lips twitched in amusement. "They observe everything across the multiverse but⦠they're forbidden from interfering."
Seph's eyes gleamed dangerously, his muscles tensing.
"So⦠he's been watching me?" His voice was low, a dangerous growl building in his chest.
Lady Death's smirk deepened. "All the time, darling."
Seph's fist clenched tightly. "Even when I'mā¦"
"Oh yes." Lady Death giggled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Even when you're⦠entertaining your lovely ladies."
Seph's eyes flashed with fury.
"That bastardā¦" He growled, his tone filled with menace. "Peeping Tom of the multiverseā¦"
Lady Death covered her mouth, trying ā and failing ā to stifle her laughter.
"You have no idea how amusing this isā¦" She murmured between giggles.
Seph's expression darkened further, his patience running out.
"I don't care about the othersā¦" His voice was a deadly whisper. "But if that perverted bastard keeps watching me when I'm with my womenā¦"
Lady Death arched a brow, her lips curling into a seductive smile. "Oh?"
Seph's eyes burned with pure, unfiltered rage. "I'll teach him some manners."
"And how do you plan on doing that?" Lady Death's voice was filled with curiosity, her amethyst gaze glinting with mischief.
Seph's lips curled into a dangerous smile, his eyes flashing with raw power.
"Simple." His voice was cold, his grin predatory. "I'll pay him a little visit."
Lady Death's smile was laced with something⦠dark.
"Oh, Sephā¦" She purred softly, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "This⦠is going to be fun."
Seph's gaze was distant, his mind already plotting his next move.
"Let's see how long he likes watching when I'm done with himā¦" His voice was barely above a whisper, but the promise of chaos echoed in his words.
