Chapter 24 - Rest

Before checking his reward, Arlo's biggest priority was to stop the blood pouring out from his arm.

He used his clothes to pat the wound dry, then picked up a couple big leaves from the branch that had fallen, wrapped it around his arm, and tightened it to stop blood flow.

"Woh"

A sigh of relief.

Thankfully, he had paid a substantially high amount of attention in his survival classes, or else he would have died from blood loss…eventually.

He picked up a couple oranges that had fallen onto the ground, walked for a bit and then leaned his back against the same the tree he had fallen from.

"Makutu bloom"

He quite excitedly said.

Little pieces of writing started to matriculate in-front of him:

Name - Arlo

??? - ?

A frown appeared on his face.

"A pillow?"

"Seriously! Uh, why do i have such bad luck when it comes to getting useful tools"

With a look of defeat, he clicked on it:

[pillow] -

Rank - Regular

Type - Service

Abilitie - [It heals you in your asleep]

Story -[ It kept the princess comfort]

A small glimmer of hope shined in Arlo's onyx eye's.

"Yesssss"

"Something helpful"

Not only was Arlo over the moon, he also started to breath more freely.

The injury on his left arm would have been a massive hassle, cause of it's severity. With barely any sense of feeling, he wasn't sure how long it would have taken him to fully heal. Maybe, a couple weeks, or a couple months depending on how deep the wound was.

"I'll be able to sleep more comfortably today"

He said in satisfaction.

Even though it looked like the sun would keep shining in the sky for a couple more hours, Arlo wanted to finish the adventure here.

His injury would make it really difficult for him to explore the forest any further, but, it was mostly because he was really satisfied with what he had done today.

Fighting a monster, and also winning against it felt surreal.

"I'm done for the day"

However, before he made his way back to the beach. Their were a couple things he had to do first.

Getting back on his feet, Arlo made his way to the beast, and pulled out his sword from its forehead.

Arlo liked oranges, they were sweet, juicy, and very refreshing. But, he couldn't live off of them. He needed something more, something like…tasty meat.

Arlo was about to chop the beast up, and take some of it back to the beach, in hopes of creating a fire and cooking it.

He was no professional in it, but his skills weren't that awful, or so he thought.

First, Arlo chopped the head clean off, then its tail, before cutting its legs and opening its stomach up.

As he was skinning the beast, and chopping it into pieces.

Arlo saw something glow.

He stretched his arm out and pulled it from deep inside the beast's stomach.

A glowing stone with an usual shape was sitting on the palm of his hand.

"Oh wait, was this what Seer and Luna were talking about?"

He bewilderly said.

"This has to be it's soul"

Arlo used his fingers and squeezed it quite firmly, without using much force, it shattered.

The glow swirled for a bit, before moving up Arlo's hand in circles as if it was orbiting it.

The glow diverged it's path by the time it reached the halfway point of Arlo's hand, it gradually made it's way towards Arlo, and eventually made contact with the center of his chest.

It felt like a burden had been lifted, a sensation that could only be described as euphoria.

But, only for a very short time, seemingly no longer than instant, before he went back to his normal self.

Glimpsing back to his stats, something had changed.

Name - Arlo

Title - ?

Soul - ?

Identity - ?

Natural abilities - [untold fragment], [Good luck], [Unusual eyes]

Power - [Servant of Air]

Weakness - ?

Tools - [Star], [Black blade], [Pillow]

Guards - none

Soul strength - 2/1000

??? - ?

His soul strength had gone up by 2.

Did that mean his soul had gotten stronger? Or maybe more potent?

Well, whatever the case was, Arlo was super happy about it.

"Nice"

He joyfully said.

After a while, the beast was cut into long strips of meat.

He grabbed a couple oranges and hid them in his pockets, then lifted the strips of meat and placed them on his right shoulder.

It was certainly heavy, and also quite yucky, the blood from the meat was dripping onto his clothes.

The journey back would strain Arlo's body quite a lot, but he had to do. He couldn't let all of this meat be wasted.

He carefully made his way back, each step was taken with consideration of uneven terrain, or if the roots of some tree were poking out from the ground, or branches sticking out in his way.

——

"THUD"

The strips of meat hit the ground, and Arlo collapsed immediately after.

He had finally made his way back.

It had taken him longer than expected, the beaming sun was about to descend in a couple seconds, and the night was slowly creeping in.

"AHHH"

He felt a sharp pain in his head.

Maybe, this was a sign saying he had pushed his body too much, Arlo however didn't pay too much attention to it, because he had a couple things to do before going to sleep.

He collected dry timber, sticks, leaves, and a couple stones. Everything except from the rocks were placed together in the middle, he then proceeded to violently bash the two rocks together over and over and over again, and he didn't stop until the sparks landed in the middle.

With enough sparks, the timber, leaves, sticks started to burn. And, soon enough a large fire had engulfed it all.

The meat had already been pierced by a large stick, and was ready to be cooked.

He ate like no tomorrow. By the end, his stomach was fully bloated, and Arlo was already half asleep.

He quickly wrapped the leftovers in some leaves and my his way to the hole.

'Pillow'

Light appeared infront of his, swirling around, until it conceptualised into a pillow — a very soft and cosy blue pillow.

He placed the pillow at the very back, and made himself comfortable.

His body from the waist up was in the hole, whilst his legs dangled about.

The night went by like a breeze.

Venturing into the forest with a seriously injured arm would be a grave mistake, so Arlo had made the choice to rest here for a couple days, and to recuperate the energy he had lost.

The passing days were slightly uneventful. Arlo would either go look at the ocean, roam around the trees, or sit about and eat food, it wouldn't be wrong to say that he had gotten slightly lazy.

It wasn't all that bad, except from the sharp pain he would feel in his head every time the sun set.

By the time his hand had recovered enough for him to not feel pain anymore from it, he chose to go back into the forest.

He stuffed all the leftover meat into his pockets, and prepared to leave .

However, this departure was different to the one before.

This time he wasn't coming back.
