Asher sighed as he leaned back against the wall.
"Here we go again. Is this how it's going to be? How about you drop this. It's getting old."
"No. I'm only telling you that I know hey you're here and that why I'm here."
"It's not just about her," he replied, his tone defensive. "This alliance is important for our pack."
"Don't lie to me," Sarah retorted, her voice rising. "Don't insult me by pretending this is about the pack. If it were about anything else, you wouldn't have dragged me here just to chase after some ghost from your past."
Asher clenched his jaw, fighting to keep his composure. "Skylar is more than just a memory to me, Sarah. She was—she is—a part of my life that I can't ignore. I need closure, if nothing else."
She scoffed, "You might be the alpha of this pack, Asher, but you're acting like anything but. You're putting personal feelings over our duty, and for what? To satisfy some old, broken dream?"
