Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Extortion (?)

Harry poured a cup of lemongrass tea, placing it in front of me. I sipped it once, then twice, thinking. At some point, my plate had to be full, right? Creditors, school, whatever the Headmaster wanted from me, and the end of this world to deal with...

"What are you thinking, young master?" Harry said. He served me more roasted pork, cutting and placing each slice on my plate. I swallowed back the drool, already cutting into the meat, matching the pace at which he transferred the food.

After I'd eaten my fill, I let out a burp, patting my bloated stomach. "Ugh, Harry, you sure know how to keep me fat." I rubbed my belly, looking at the clouds. "I'm not sure how I can help this world, Harry. I can't even help myself." My sigh came out more exhausted than I thought it would. I leaned back in my chair, staring at the roof of the gazebo.

"You've barely tried," he said to me, picking up my plates and placing them on the trolley. "All you need to do is work harder. Or be smarter. Surely you know of a way to make some very quick gold?" He raised an eyebrow, placing a large slice of cake on my plate.

After a moment of thought, I shook my head. "No, nothing without severe risk." I was already licking my fingers clean. Then I stopped, staring at him. He was stronger than he'd show me, but maybe, I could use him... "Would you join me on an adventure?"

Harry stared at me, shaking his head after a moment of silence. He looked back at the house, his gaze softening a fraction. "If you are asking me to leave these grounds, I must decline. The most I could do for you is send a letter."

I frowned. Thinking back, he had never left the house, even up until the moment of his death. The easy way was never my way, anyways. "Alright. Grab me a pen and paper." Still, if he could send letters for me, that would be very convenient.

"Of course, young master." With a nod, he took the food trolley and left, disappearing into the overgrown hedge maze. It was still revolting to me. Sighing, I placed a hand on my filled stomach. I'll have to watch myself with his cooking.

About twenty minutes later, he came back, bringing a pen, paper, and a lantern. Looking into the darkening orange sky was nice, but I didn't have the room to care about the beauty of nature. My hand wrapped around the pen, sliding the tip across the page.

Hello, Talon

I've heard of your daughter's mysterious illness. It sounds similar to something my

The pen stopped, my hand shaking. I couldn't do that. Not with her memory. Breathing a sigh out, I crumpled the paper, tossing it behind me. Harry must've caught it, as I didn't hear it hit the floor. I rewrote it, starting from the second sentence.

From what has reached my ears, it seems to be a sickness a close friend of mine suffered through. Thankfully, he still lives, as could your daughter. All I request for the cure is a simple monetary gift, not something someone of your stature would even notice. If you agree to this, I would love to share this cure with your child. No need for a response letter, just meet me at the location below...

The rest of the letter was mostly formalities, something necessary, and small trade secrets I wouldn't know about if I hadn't returned from the future. I signed the letter, sealing and handing it over to Harry.
