Chapter 3 - Day One

Elgin couldn't understand what the motives of these boys were. He was growing wearily suspicious with every second that past in silence. Then it dawned on him.

Elgin looked down with a mischievous smile forming on his face. Already formulating the perfect plan to extort these naive young men sitting across from him. However these exact thoughts were quickly shot down as he begun to hear light murmurs and footsteps coming outside the door. Before he could signal to the boys to stay quiet he glanced up at them and they were already looking at door.

...

"Someone's right behind the door."

A light whisper came from Kin's lips. A silent and unperceivable nod came from Lovel, as everyone was already looking at the door. Kin already started squinting his eyes anticipating the door being opened. A tall man with silver skin, a calm demeanor and an athletics build appeared before the door.

As soon as Elgin caught sight of this man he shouted.

"He's a champion from Nerthol, stay on your toes."

"Oh, so you know who I am. That makes my act useless, I really wanted to play with you guys. I guess I'll just have to kill all three of you then, what a pity."

He instantly gunned for Elgin as he was the one who gave away his cover before it even had a chance to work. Elgin was slow to block, but still successfully block the first attack. The attacks after that were on a completely different level.

With the first attack, Steren was able to gauge the battle prowess of the tall man in front of him. Elgin may have had a longer reach as he was taller, but it was futile when compared to the stat differences. The second attack was a faint for a leg sweep. Elgin was only partially able to dodge in time, so he still got knocked off balance. Steren produced a flurry of attacks to Elgin's stomach. Elgin caught his footing and backed up holding his stomach. Already breathing heavily and with a slight tang of blood in his mouth. Elgin knew he wasn't making it out alive. He was truly met with a harrowing foe. As Steren began to slowly walk towards the kneeling Elgin.

Elgin looked at the boys and hinted at them to leave. Today Elgin was going to die, but not as a coward, as a champion. When faced with life and death he had always tucked his tail between his legs and ran. Elgin hated that feeling, so just then he got back up, spit the blood out from his mouth, wiped his tears, and began walking towards Steren. As he did so, he was enveloped in an invisible hue that proceeded to make the former man just that.

Smiling at the fun turn of events in front of him, Steren chuckled.

"To think a weakling like you has an innate skill. Disgusting trash. Hide all you want, it'll only prolong your death."

An even fiercer hue of red tinged Steren's silver body as he felt himself getting stronger.

...

While running with their lives, Lovel grabbed the chair he was sitting in. Kin began to get curious about the red aura around Steren and if it was somehow related to his -innate skill- Rampage. Looking at the same stat panel he was looking at earlier, he fixated on the word of the innate skill. He focused more on this one word than he had for anything else in his entire life and only then he grasped what it really meant.

-

Innate skill - Rampage

Description: The more enemies you're fighting alone your strength stat grows exponentially.

Background: A man standing atop thousands of dead bodies. Covered in a haze as red as his enemy's blood. An invincible one man army capable of destroying an entire division alone. "The more the merrier" he says fiercely looking at the oncoming reinforcements.

-

Running out of the room Lovel props up the chair up to the door knowing full well this won't stop him in the slightest, but at least slow the man down. Kin was still in a daze, the description was good enough, so why did he have to have that ominous vision along with it?

...

The glow on Sterens body grew dim when the 2 other boys left, but it was still raging enough to deal with the man he was currently battling. Looking around aimlessly Steren finally brought up his guard and assumed his battle style.

Elgin was walking circles around Steren to find an opening but there was none. So he figured he just had to make one. Attacking his left shoulder then right knee. The fight was looking even for a moment. Until right before Elgin hit his third attack on the right external oblique. Steren grabbed ahold of Elgins arm. It was as if a fly buzzing around a venus fly trap finally crawled into its maw.

Holding Elgin with a death grip in his left hand he began to pummel his face in. The Camouflage dissipated the instance he was captured. Seeing as he was on the brink of death, Steren smiled.

"If it wasn't for me being able to track your movements through the dust on the floor, I might've actually had to try. It's a shame to die in such a dead room. Well, at least you'll fit right in."

The half conscious Elgin heard this and only began to curse his luck. More tears mixed in with the cuts on his face causing a stinging sensation. His body was in tatters, limp and hurting all over. Steren gripped his neck with his right hand simultaneously letting go of the other. Elgin's Pod lit up with a blue screen, whispering in his ear.

-

Kin:

"Elgin, I'll avenge you no matter what!"

-

Just like that Elgin died in a boring room with only a table and 3 chairs in it. His cold body could be seen covered in numerous cuts and bruises, and a smile on his face.
