Chapter 5 - chapter 5: The king and his people

When I finished up the hill, I contemplated the human city for the first time. It was imposing. I felt surprised ... even happy.

We advance a few steps until its doors are going through. At first glance, the city seemed beautiful. But as we walked and set me better, I noticed details that broke my heart: the market shelves were empty, the people walked with their eyes down ... and the food, clearly, was scarce.

I could see the discouragement on his faces. Their bodies were present, but their spirits, turned off. Morality was on the ground. No one seemed to have strength to continue fighting. It was as if the whole kingdom was about to surrender.

I looked at Daichi. He had his head crouched, in silence. I knew that even he had an immediate solution ... But something in my heart, an instinct, told me that if someone could do something, it was him.

The aura he emitted was dense, powerful. Of all the twelve heroes, Daichi was the strongest. Our older brother.

I approached him and spoke to him quietly. Just then, Elena whispered in my ear that wanted to go down. I wanted to walk on your own. Be careful, I helped her get off my back.

So, I asked Daichi:

"Brother ... Do you think we can save these people?" Really ... can we do it?

He said nothing at the beginning. He only stroked my head and, with a quiet smile, he replied:

-Of course. All of us ... We are strong enough to achieve it.

Daichi continued to caress my head for a few more seconds. Something inside me lit. It was a happiness that could not explain. Just seeing him smile, that natural smile ... I felt in peace.

Then, he stopped stroking me and headed towards the gentleman to talk to him. I, full of determination, pressed my left fist and pointed out the sky with my right hand.

"I will be the best hero of all time!" The greatest among humans!

My brothers burst out laughing. One after another they approached me, telling me that the first to achieve it would win the title of "Best Hero" among the twelve. We laugh together and, with enthusiasm, we put our fists together as a promise. Our bet had begun.

We were a family. United, strong, determined. We laughed, we hugged. We swore triumphant from this war. Nothing or anyone would separate us.

The gentleman, who had left us behind, shouted us to reach him. We ran towards him, animated. Upon arriving, we asked if he wanted to join our competition.

Calmly, he replied:

-Of course. Why not? I also want that title. I will not lose against you, heroes. I'm going to win too.

The joy was contagious. For the first time since I woke up from the capsule, I felt something warm ... familiar ... beautiful. It was a feeling that I had never experienced before. Something inside me began to become fond of that moment.

We continue walking towards the castle. We were closer to its great doors. The gentleman explained that the king would probably be in the throne room, speaking with his advisor to find solutions: both for food scarcity and for the end of the damn war.

When we arrived in front of the castle doors, the guards opened them without saying a word. Just seeing the knight's armor knew who he was. He didn't even need to take off his helmet.

"Are you someone important here?" Daichi asked curious.

The gentleman nodded, without giving him greater importance.

-Yeah. I am the leader of the Knights.

We enter the castle without problems and move around their halls until we reach the throne room. There, the king was waiting for us.

A man who, with only one looks, made it clear that he was also on the verge of surrendering.
