Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Storm Dragon

In a loud, booming, and deep monster voice I hear, "Can you hear me little one?"

This the voice of the Great Storm Dragon Veldora, one of the 3 currently in existence and the youngest of them.

Yo, [Great Sage], I need you to send a message to my brother. Tell him to immediately come to my location.

{Answer- Understood.

Notice- Unique Skill [Sage's Link] has been activated.

Sending message.}

In a louder more desperate voice Veldora again asks, "Little one, can you hear me?" He's clearly desperate to have someone to talk to. I can sense the panic in his voice as I don't respond.

So, what do I say? I'm not sure exactly. Let's just go with the most basic response. "Yes, I can hear you, I can't really see you though. I'm blind you see, I'm a slime." Let's see how he responds.

"I see, so you are blind. I was a little confused when a meager slime crawled near me with no hesitation. You seem to be a special slime it seems though. Not many slimes leave their territory. They are typically thoughtless creatures that only exist to absorb and consume. You are different."

Slimes are pretty boring then. I guess they really are just giant amoebas. I had forgotten what the slimes in this reality do though so I guess this clarification helps with understanding just how different Rimuru and I are from other slimes.

I just realized just how little regular slimes appear in Tensura. You would think this comparison would come up more often.

Halfway through my thought process I hear a frustrated voice yell out, "Are you ignoring me!?" Calm down Veldora.

Faking fear I say, "Oh, my apologies, I was just thinking about what you said."

To me left I can see a blurry round ball appear next to me. As I've mentioned before [Sage's Link] has the added effect of allowing us to see each other. It has something to do with the corridor.

The way we see each other is we can perceive each other's flow of magicules. That means we end up seeing each other as blurry blue balls of magic. Using it I see what his stomach is doing.

He's already making healing potions. I decided not to do it. The reason why is I never really know when I'll need them, I need to collect information before I use all the materials I'm eating. Rimuru making them is helpful though, they'll come in handy later on.

He greets me using [Sage's Link] and rolls up right next to me. Veldora has stayed quiet this entire time so Rimuru doesn't even realize we aren't alone here.

Veldora, surprised about this new turn of events asks in a booming voice, "So there's two of you?" This sudden loud voice basically yelling in Rimuru's ear startled him. "You must be related, your magicules are nearly identical. You two are very extraordinary to be able to survive my magicules with no ill effects. Are you perhaps unique monsters?"

I just remembered about magicule poisoning. I hadn't really thought about it but what would have happened if a normal person walked into this cave area next to Veldora? As cruel as it may be I really would love to test this out.

{Answer- Assuming the being exposed to the magicules in the area are human effects of being exposed to Veldora's magicules include: external dehydration, blood vomiting, excessive shaking, bloodshot eyes, and extreme tiredness within the first few minutes.

After prolonged exposure the subject exposed would likely either be put into a coma and die peacefully or suffer from a stroke or heart attack due to cardiovascular effects.}

That sounds awful! I'm not gonna lie though, I still want to see it in action. While it may be a bit in humane I'm not gonna pretend to be some heroic person, I am not above sacrificing people if the potential reward is high enough.

Moving on from those morbid thoughts Rimuru in a shaky voice asks, "So who is this guy?"

I can't act like I already knew he was gonna appear so I feign ignorance and say, "I don't know, I just met him a bit ago. That's the reason I called for you. He seems really strong though." Turning back to him I ask, "So who are you?"

I immediately brace myself for the yelling I know is about to happen. In a deafening roar Veldora yells, "I am the Great Storm Dragon Veldora! Fuahahahaha!"

God damn! While I knew he was going to be really loud that was just going a bit too far. I can feel the liquid in my body move as he says this.

I turn to look at Rimuru. He's shaking. Well, I wouldn't really call it shaking. Jiggling, I guess would be a better explanation.

To keep the conversation going I say, "So moving on, why did you ask us if we are unique monsters? What does that mean?"

{Answer- Unique monsters are…}

I wasn't asking [Great Sage]. I already know what they are.

Another earthquake happens as Veldora says, "Unique monsters are monsters that have been created or mutated under special circumstances. An example would be a monster created in an environment rich in magicules. I believe you are able to withstand my magicules because you seem to have been created from magicules originating from me."

Not gonna lie, I didn't know some of that. I did know the majority though. It's the reason Rimuru and I are so strong basically.

I begin to think about what effects this has as Veldora rambles about the types of monsters in this reality. I chose to ignore him because I already know the information.

While I am not paying much attention Rimuru is pretty invested even asking the follow up question, "So doesn't that make you something akin to our parent?"

This catches his attention. He thinks about it for a bit before responding with, "Parent would be the wrong way to describe it. True Dragons like myself lack reproductive abilities."

Rimuru thinks about the idea of monsters appearing from condensed magicules and asks, "Wait, so if monsters can be created just from magicules in the air wouldn't normal reproduction be unneeded?"

I interrupt the question and say, "Sure while it may not be necessary it doesn't hurt you know.

On top of that isn't the goal of all mortal creatures to pass on their genetics. This can't happen if they aren't able to reproduce."

Veldora surprised says, "You two are surprisingly intelligent. Ordinary monsters don't usually possess this much intelligence.

I will say though, I do not need to reproduce as I am a perfect being. I am bound neither by life span or by flesh! As long as I have will I am immortal! Fuahahahaha!" That was over the top even for you Veldora but I guess it's to be expected from you.

Alright, time to make him want to become friends with us. "Alright, cool, well if you don't mind we've got things to do so."

Veldora scrambles as tries to get our attention, "Wait! You said before that you two can't see right!? I'll show you how! There is one condition though!" He took the bait.

Rimuru excited blurts out, "Really!? You can do that!?"

Extending a tentacle out and patting his head like a dog I say, "Calm down, he still hasn't said how. On top of that he has a condition, we can't just say yes."

"I get it, you can stop patting my head now."

Veldora puts both of his index fingers together in a very shy manner, lowers his head and with puppy dog eyes almost in a pleading manner says, "I just want you two to visit me from time to time. You see I'm always sitting here alone because I can't leave this cave."

Rimuru asks, "Why?"

Veldora then goes on to explain his whole story. How he was sealed by Hero Chloe with a Unique Skill called [Unlimited Imprisonment] and due to that he can't leave the cave.

I pretend to think for a bit even extending a tentacle out and putting it under my, face? Body, more accurately. "You know, I have an idea. We could probably break you out."

He lifts his head high and looks up as he laughs historically in an over the top anime only way, "Break me out! How are you going to do that!?"

Rimuru seems a bit confused, strangely for some reason I can tell what emotion Rimuru is experiencing just based of the position of the bubbles on his body. I still can't see but the way I can see the bubble is that they seem to have less magic than the rest of his body. I still don't know how I can tell just off the bubbles on his body. Slime instincts maybe? I'm not too sure.

Extending out my tentacles to make explanation easier I say, "You see, we have a skill that allows us to absorb and analyze everything we eat. If we absorb you and analyze the [Unlimited Imprisonment] we might stand a chance at breaking you out.

On top of that we also have another skill that allows us to analyze things at speeds thousands of times faster than normal without even needing to pay attention. If we can eat you we might be able to free you."

Everything goes quiet. He's probably thinking it over. "Guahahaha! You might be onto something! It's not like your idea is any worse than staying this cage until I die! You know what, let's do it! But first!" Here it comes.

{Notice-Extra Skill [Magic Sense] has been obtained.}

Veldora begins explains how to use this skill as I activate it immediately using [Great Sage].

He puts crosses his arms and looks away, "You didn't have to show off you know."

My head hurts.

Yo, [Great Sage] can you take this load of my shoulders.

{Answer- Understood. Beginning to take control of processing Extra Skill [Magic Sense]

Would you like to link Extra Skill [Magic Sense] with Unique Skill [Great Sage]. YES/NO?}

Yes, sure!

{Notice- Extra Skill [Magic Sense] has been linked with Unique Skill [Great Sage]}

I use it to look around. It's a whole lot more detailed than I imagined. I can see individual scratch marks on the wall from where Veldora must have bumped into them. This is insane.

I then realize something, I truly am in an anime world. Everything is in an anime style, which is strange to me. Back in my world everything was realistic. This reminds me again of how different the reality I've found myself in is now.

I take one good look at Veldora. He's huge, towering above me like a skyscraper back in my world would have. His scales glisten like obsidian and his eyes glow as bright as the sun. He looks really cool. I would honestly be in awe if I didn't know he had the personality of a tsundere.

I hear a scream next to me. "Why'd you scream bro, you already knew he was a dragon."

"Sorry, he's just very intimidating."

Veldora surprised says, "Interesting, you two are adapting surprisingly fast for monsters who couldn't see before."

I should probably tell him we were humans now, he'll find out anyways when he goes into Rimuru's stomach.

I originally thought about eating Veldora myself and using [Zero Time] to analyze him infinitely fast but then [Great Sage] warned me that [Zero Time] drains magicules and stamina. I wouldn't be able to analyze [Unlimited Imprisonment] in one go and it's far too risky to keep Veldora inside me. Reason why is I have the Tensura Webnovel, Lightnovel, Manga, and Anime in my memory. There's no way he wouldn't find them considering he read the manga in Rimuru's head in the original story.

I tell him, "That's because we used to be humans. You see, we were both reincarnated here as slimes after we died in our previous lives."

I can almost hear the gears start turning in his mind, "I see. Then you two have wisdom because you have the minds of humans. If that's the case then you two are lucky special cases."

Rimuru asks, "What do you mean, special cases?"

He explains, "You see, humans from different worlds appearing here isn't rare, but those people are usually summoned. It's rare for someone who went through the process of reincarnation to keep their memories. Those people have to have their memories deeply engraved in their souls just to stand a chance at keeping them. On top of that some souls can be destroyed or damaged during their transferring to this world or while trying to stabilize in a new body. For not one but two souls to have survived all that you two were incredibly lucky."

Lucky huh. I call that shit plot armor. I've been thinking about what that god guy meant when he said I'll become a main character and I'm starting to think he meant I'll become a main character here on the level of Rimuru.

I say, "Well, that's pretty interesting."

Rimuru curiously asks, "So how are people summoned here? We now know how people can be reincarnated but how does summoning work?"

I fall asleep during the following explanation. I already know all this but Rimuru needs to know this too. Halfway through Veldora yells at me asking, "Are you listening!?"

I was dozing off so that startled me, "Eh, eh, oh, yeah."

After the end of the explanation I then ask, "So are you ready to get absorbed?"

"Yes, I believe so, but first, let me name you two, you two can give me a name as well."

Rimuru asks, "Names? Why? Why so suddenly?" He's more surprised than in canon because he has a better idea of what naming does in this reality. He learned some information about it when I asked him to talk to [Great Sage] about it.

Veldora explains, "By giving each other names we can etch it into our souls that we are equals. You humans call it a family name.

By naming each other I will also grant you my divine protection. You two are nameless monsters but with this you can become named monsters. So what shall our family name be?"

I let Rimuru think about this on his own, "Since you are the Storm Dragon how about Tempest?"

Veldora goes silent, then suddenly he yells, "Tempest, Tempest!"

Rimuru panicked yells, "Sorry, I didn't…"

"I love it! From today onwards my name shall be Veldora Tempest! You two shall be Rimuru and Migeru."

Migeru huh, that's interesting. It's very similar to my previous life name. I wonder if that god made it happen or if it's just a coincidence.

Let's see if we can still become friends, "Since we named each other how about we become formally friends?"

"Fuahahaha, friends? Sure." He was way more willing than in canon. I guess becoming friends is really not that crazy compared to basically becoming brothers.

"Alright Rimuru, eat Veldora."

"What, why me?"

"Just do it." I say while motioning him to go ahead.

He droops or more accurately melts a little before saying, "Fine."

He goes up to Veldora and proceeds to eat him. Incredible, I think looking up at him as he eats Veldora. He quickly grows in size as his body glows, presumably from [Predator]'s activation as he eats Veldora. After engulfing Veldora entirely he shrinks until eventually only he's standing where Veldora was.

"Alright, cool. Start analyzing the [Unlimited Imprisonment] and let's get a move on." After a brief little discussion of where we should go we head out.

I look at my map and see it's being filled out really fast from the range of [Magic Sense]. At this rate I'll have a complete map of this entire planet in no time!
