Chapter 8 - Ch-8 Nagazora: Enthusiastic Morning Walk

The sky was dark, the sun had yet to rise and the horizon only barely received any light from the massive ball of energy that illuminated the earth every day.

It was 4:00 am.

Very early in the morning and most people wouldn't have woken up now, but our main character is unfortunately, not one of those people.

Alexander, who lied on a large bed with a peaceful face, immediately sprung up right on time, as if invigorated with newfound energy that was previously missing.

His built in mental clock allows him to be extremely punctual and sleep no more than what he believes he should sleep. And right now, he chose to be early.

Standing up from his bed, he stretched his arms and legs, twisting his hips and cracking his joints. He felt the pull of all his muscles and joints and grunted in satisfaction after every pop.

He tidied his bed, fixed the bedsheets and pillows, cleaned his room and went into the bathroom.

Turning on the tap, he applied toothpaste on the toothbrush and proceeded to clean his teeth, making sure it doesn't lose its sparkly white glamour. He flossed and spit it out, even washing his face after he was done and walked out of the bathroom fully refreshed.

He then began to workout.

Body weight training was the first thing he did.

Single finger push ups, one arm handstand push ups, pull ups, dips and curls, etc. He also ran on the treadmill he had at home and continued to do so for an hour.

He then went to make breakfast.

A large breakfast which consisted of six eggs, two sandwiches and a lot of vegetables. He also grabbed a morning tea and checked the news in the newspaper, because he preferred to read the newspaper over checking news online.

After this, he went into the bathroom and turned on the shower to take a nice, soothing bath. The fresh water touching his already smooth, lush skin made him shudder. Alex sighed in reflex, involuntarily relaxing and easing himself into his nice, soothing bath.

When he left the bathroom, he didn't care for the water droplets he dropped as he dried himself up with a towel. His hair was the most wet and also the most glossy part of his body after his shower.

His handsome face flickered and glowed in the light of the newly arising sun.

He looked at the time.

5:30 am.

An hour and a half had passed.

He nodded with a pleased smile, appearing to be quite happy with the time.

He then flickered out of sight, his wet towel falling on the floor slowly. Not any time before the towel could touch the floor, he reappeared on the place he disappeared from, his body glitching involuntarily.

His bio-android physique did still less to glitches every now and then, where Alastor appeared to glitch in and out of reality, as if something went wrong in the code of his creation.

He, who was already dressed formally in a white shirt, dark suit and dark blue coat grinned at his own image. His pants were matching his shirt colour and he even wore a top hat. And of course, he didn't forget the gloves, which were white this time.

Unfortunately, due to the white colour of the glove, if you paid close enough attention to it, you'd be able to see the dark coloration of the skin underneath it. Like a glowing void hidden under a bright, white veil to prevent the darkness from seeping out and infecting the surrounding areas.

"Alright. Time to take some action against the honkai that have appeared on the outskirts of the city."

That's right.

Honkai beasts have recently appeared towards the outskirts of the city. Of course, they handy actually gotten into the city and no one had encountered them yet, which thankfully meant no one had died to them yet, but it was really only a matter of time.

Honkai energy, or to be more precise, honkai corruption, is a very potent condition but the thing that makes it so deadly is how fast it spreads and the fact that it has no cure. It's pure, destructive, unstable energy, with a very high rate of infection.

Only very few people in the world are born with natural resistance to the honkai, and even then, it varies greatly between people.

Alex believes that people that have the power to protect and save others, must go ahead and use their powers for the good of humanity and help them defeat the honkai, the ultimate test for humanity's ability to evolve and adapt.

An unbeatable monster that Alex wishes to defeat. He felt like that was his destiny. His purpose.

Ever since his creation, his birth. The day he woke up with no memories but the blurred friendship he shared with a European male and a short female android, he had nothing else to remember.

And yet, he still felt a burning sensation in his chest whenever the name of the honkai is mentioned. It's like his soul was burning itself away in order to exact the order of execution on the honkai, who clearly deserves such a judgement.

From the moment he woke up, as an amnesiac, he's only had one thing in his mind. Defeat the honkai to save humanity. That's been the goal stuck in his head since his revival and he doesn't even know why.

He just wants to do this. It's like he's destined for this. Like it's his purpose of existence. To show the honkai the unbound, unrestrained cruelty of time. As a timeless person, he felt like it was his duty.

And he would complete that duty of his, no matter what. He would never lose to the honkai. Never!

He had no idea, where that obsession originated from, but he didn't seem to care. All he cared about, was that he has to protect the weak and bring hope to the people. Because he had power that no one else possessed.

And while he was on that righteous note, his actual body was being fling across the city at nearly 60mph. He didn't feel the need to pick up the pace yet, until he actually felt the honkai fluctuations he was looking for, in which case he went full throttle.

It wasn't long before had had arrived at the outskirts of the city, and he was somehow undiscovered by the people of Nagazora, despite literally hopping across buildings like an animal.

He landed softly on the earthy soil, his boots lifting a pinch of dust as he landed.

He raised his head up, but Alex's eyes had already locked in. The eyeball shrunk in size, his pupil became a slit, like that of a reptile's.

He stayed like that in that very same crouched position for a while, just waiting in silence, leaving nothing but the birds chirping and the winds howling lightly behind him.

He then winds up his first, the veins of his forearm clenching and twitching. He released the force he stored up in the form of a powerful right hook. A punch that landed directly on a Seraph type honkai beast, shattering it immediately.

A few more Seraphim types emerged from the shadows of the forests, using the trees as cover and allowing for what could be called in modern terms as a "jumping".

Because along with them, there was also ten metre honkai beasts, and shorter one's. Nothing higher than that though, which meant they had only just gathered here and it was completely safe in the area, no casualties.

The honkai energy levels were also not high enough to be properly noticed by the advanced honkai energy sensors embedded through the layout of the city.

He looked at the monsters he was meant to kill and noticed the presence of a Scarlet Uriel, a flame infused version of the otherwise easy-to-kill Seraph class.

He let in a deep breath, eyes closing for a second and his heartbeat remained steady and unchanging.

"I suppose this is the enthusiastic part of these early morning strolls I love o so much." He backflipped above tha Seraphim that tried to slash him with its wings.

Midair, his first began to charge up honkai energy, in a way nobody had ever seen before. To be able to manipulate honkai energy at such a level without being a herrscher would baffle anyone that was watching, if there was anyone watching that is.

He then used his boot to step on an Archangel, using it as footing to launch himself into the air.

His body was engulfed from behind by the shining light of the rising sun, allowing a dark shadow to be formed across the forest.

As he turned mid-air, his other eyes suddenly lost their shine and grew dull, and hostile. His emotional human face was gone, replaced by an emotionless husk and the fingers of his left hand momentarily flashed with a crimson flare.

The honkai beasts were covered by a flash for just a moment, before that crimson light disappeared loke it didn't exist.

While twisting his body in the air, Alex blinked his red eyes, which suddenly lost its dark pupils and began to swirl dangerously.

Right after the light disappeared, the Seraphim class honkai beasts were quickly decimated, their bodies crumbling and breaking into fragments that disappeared into the air. Dust was forcefully puffed into the air and a whole had formed itself into the ground.

To be more precise — a sinkhole.

The soil underneath became loose and started to pile around and drop down into what looked like a whole, forming what looked like a miniature whirlpool but on land, within the forest. The trees nearby rocked and tilted, some even falling and revealing their strong roots, only held up by the small parts of their bodies that were still underground.

Alexander seemed unbothered by the sinkhole he made and ignored the soil pulling against his boots. As if moving through rough, fast-flowing water, he waded through the dirt like a crane.

A tree almost fell on him, creaking as it's roots began to give away and it's trunk began to break, but Alex seemed unbothered by it.

Instead, his gaze fell upon the single Scarlet Uriel that managed to evade his previous attack. It had also swirled itself into flames, readying it's next attack.

Alex didn't have time to try and take it down as a Chariot class honkai beast appeared behind him, it's large ten metre body shaking the ground. It's long, broad, flat and heavy forelimbs shook the already shifting, sinking ground.

It's appearance made the single tree that hung over his body, to break apart and it plummeted onto him from behind him.

Alexander didn't turn around.

Instead, he stopped the plummeting trunk of the thick tree that threatened to crush him. His sturdy fingers crushed the bark and he ripped the tree out of the loose ground it was stuck in.

The Chariot raised it's forelimbs to crush Alex, but had already disappeared into a cloud of dust. He was already above the honkai beast, and he had a hole tree on his hand as a weapon.

Not wasting any time, he hurled the tree root first towards the Scarlet Uriel, which had already began to burn the flora around it. As the fire began to consume it's surroundings, it didn't have enough time to react to the crushing weight of the tree that was thrown at it.

The tree's root grappled and crushed it with the speed and force it had gathered on the way, and then proceeded to plant itself into the soil yet again, burying the dead Scarlet Uriel below its destroyed roots.

Alex shifted his focus very swiftly, drilling his foot into the head of the honkai beast below him.

Chariot and Seraph classes of honkai beasts were easily subdued by B-Rank Valkyries, so someone like Alex saw them as no threat.

He didn't bother to bring it out, knowing that it would be overkill.

Instead, his forearms and fist glowed through his gloves with a dazzling purple light, creating an almost vortex-like effect around his fist when he drilled into the head of the Chariot.

He noticed the appearance of multiple more of these Chariots, and clicked his tongue.

"Why are these things just start appearing here for no reason ?" He questioned.

It made no sense for honkai beasts to just appear out of nowhere with such little honkai energy, unless they were placed there.

'Was this an orchestrated action?' Alexander wondered.

Why would someone want to plant artificial honkai corruption in the outskirts of a very populous city like Nagazora ? It made no sense to Alex and he was quick to understand that something big would happen.

"Artificial honkai eruption, perhaps ?"

That was certainly possible.

But that would mean a herrscher fragment or crystal existed within or around this very city and was currently in a state of dormancy. With that notion of thought, Alex began to ponder more.

— Was it Mei ?

Did it have to do with Dhumavati ? Because if it did, then things might get a lot more troublesome.
