Zhou Mingchen turned his head and found that the bed was empty, and Xia Lu was perched on the window, half her body leaning out.
"What are you doing?" he frowned.
Xia Lu's hands clutched the window tightly as she glanced back at him, inwardly crying out in dismay. She had intended to take advantage of his distraction to climb through the window to the next room and then find a different route to escape. She knew that her recent bout of fury against Zhou Mingchen was a capital offence in his eyes.
Just as her foot was about to touch the edge of the neighboring window, she swiftly turned around, aiming to grab the protective railing by the window and quickly shift her weight over.
Zhou Mingchen strode over, and before she could make her move, he had already reached out and grabbed her arm, "What in the world are you trying to do?"
