Zhou Mingchen walked into the study, reached behind the high shelves of the bookcase to retrieve the antique phone, and pressed the power button. Suddenly, he sensed something was off about the phone, hurriedly left the room to ask Mrs. Zhang, "Has anyone been at the house recently?"
Mrs. Zhang appeared puzzled, "No." She found Zhou Mingchen's question strange, as the man of the house, he should be aware that no one visits unannounced, except close family. If family had visited, they surely would have informed him, making his question quite odd.
"Is something wrong?" She noticed the outdated phone in Zhou Mingchen's hand, an item he shouldn't be using, seeming more like an old-style model an elder might use. "Did you lose something?"
"No." Zhou Mingchen shook his head, "I was just asking, don't worry about it."
"Oh." Mrs. Zhang nodded and continued with her tasks.
