Chuxia, however, was somewhat puzzled. Wasn't it said that people of this era tended to avoid the traditional arts at all costs? Why was Ye Meiru so eager to jump into the pit? Or, was there a discrepancy between what the common people knew and the actual situation? It made sense, after all—there was always a gap between the general public and the minority—and disparities were to be expected.
Chuxia's silence was misinterpreted by Ye Meiru as guilt, followed by another light laugh: "As a peasant girl, you are already doing quite well. There's no need to feel too inferior."
