Shi Lan: "..."
This was one of the rare times she couldn't come up with a retort or a rebuttal because she was feeling guilty and at fault.
"Before, when you were alone and reckless, that was one thing, but now you have a family to think about. Don't be too ruthless," Shi Lan's mother told her.
"I know my limits," Shi Lan said.
"When are you planning to have a child?" After saying this, Shi Lan's mother looked at her, "Actually, I knew you were a girl when I was four months pregnant with you. Believe it or not, at least, I always looked forward to your birth. Of course, leaving you in the hospital for three months is something I probably can never atone for in this lifetime, but back then I was overwhelmed, I didn't even know where you were taken."
"So don't think that your birth was just a tool for me to fight for power. At least I didn't think so when I was having you."
"What's the point of saying these things now? She's no longer here," Shi Lan laughed.
