Ning Xixi stepped into the house, perhaps having lived in the Ji Family for so long, she faintly felt that this home had become somewhat unfamiliar.
Ning Jingshen was on the phone in the living room, looking travel-worn, pulling at his suit tie. Seeing Ning Xixi come in, he gestured to her to take a seat first.
It took him almost half an hour before he finally spoke a word to Ning Xixi.
"Xixi, Daddy's back."
Ning Xixi nodded, hugged her knees, those glass-like, shiny black eyes looking at him, but unsure what to say.
Over the years, the time Ning Jingshen spent by her side was so limited that neither had much to say to the other.
An awkward silence fell in the living room for a while until Ning Jingshen walked over, touched her head with the same affection as during her childhood, "Last time on the phone, it was my fault. Daddy apologizes to you."
His hand, large and warm, made Ning Xixi bite her lip, managing to squeeze out a smile.
