Ji Yebai bought Ning Xixi a cup of her favorite lemon tea, and then, after leading her through a few twists and turns, they walked into an unremarkable small shop by the roadside.
As soon as they entered, a plump cat bounded over, looked at the two of them for a moment, then started circling around Ning Xixi, occasionally rubbing against her leg.
"This must be a tomcat!" Ji Yebai asserted, lifting the cat for a look, and sure enough...
He glared at the cat, "She's my woman, you're not allowed to rub against her!"
Ning Xixi stood off to the side, sweating slightly, thinking how Dabai even got jealous of a cat; this was really too much!
"Meow~" the cat mewed pitifully, as cute as could be, melting Ning Xixi's heart as she reached out to stroke its fur. The cat narrowed its eyes in satisfaction, enjoying the attention, even making a noise reminiscent of human snoring.
"It seems to really like you," came an elderly, slightly weathered voice tinged with amusement.
