Kimberly gasped as her eyes fluttered open. The room felt cold and heavy.
Her body trembled, her heart still racing from the echo of her dream, Theo's lifeless body lying in blood. Her mother was beside her, her eyes swollen from tears and worry.
"Mother… I saw him," Kimberly whispered, her voice breaking. "Theo… he's gone. I saw him die in my dream."
Her mother reached for her hand. "It was not real, my child. You must not let fear destroy you."
Kimberly shook her head. "It felt real. I could feel his pain, his blood on my hands. It was like he was calling for me."
She turned to the side of the bed where Mohandria lay motionless.
The priestess had not opened her eyes since that night she used the forbidden spell. Her breathing was faint, and her energy seemed drained.
Kimberly's tears rolled freely. "She did that to save me. And now she's lying there… because of me."
