"Melo, you should know, I won't allow you to sleep till 11:30 a.m., wait for the hangover to pass, and then leisurely come for training. My training camp starts at eight every morning, and anyone arriving after 7:50 will be considered late, and the training is tough, are you sure you want to join?" On the phone, Roger gave Carmelo Anthony a heads-up.
His training camp is not a place where you can come and go as you please; he doesn't want Anthony to show up and then be inconsistent. The seriousness of the camp must be maintained, or everyone will think the rules are arbitrary.
This is also why Roger was so upset when Gary Payton unilaterally left the training camp last summer.
To be honest, Roger didn't really care whether Gary Payton trained or not; the problem was that he undermined the atmosphere.
