The Blood Knight's death made Olanna cry out in grief. She had remained unharmed in the recent exchange only because the Blood Knight had shielded her, and this had resulted in him sustaining grievous injuries, leaving him powerless against Sodan's sneak attack in its second form.
The phantom flickered, appearing behind Olanna as a blood-red claw suddenly reached out.
"Be careful!"
DING...
Upon contact with Olanna's back, the sound of metal colliding rang out, accompanied by a flash of white light. Before the others could surround it, the phantom dodged back into the void.
Silence fell upon the arena once more.
Olanna clenched her teeth, fear evident in her eyes. If not for the protective Curio her mother had given her, she might have shared the Blood Knight's fate.
The others wore grim expressions. Even though they weren't allies, they subconsciously huddled closer.
