Two days later, Yue Ning was finally discharged from the hospital. Though her leg was wrapped and tender, the doctor assured them it would heal without lasting damage.
Huo Yan walked closely by her side, almost fussing as she supported her toward the room prepared for her. Her lips were pressed in a pout, but her eyes couldn't hide the lingering fear she had carried these past days.
"Sister-in-law, you have no idea how scared I was," she muttered, her voice soft but heavy with emotion. "Don't scare me like that again, my heart won't be able to take it."
Yue Ning gave a faint smile, her steps steady though she limped slightly. "I didn't plan to scare you."
"You say that, but…" Huo Yan trailed off, hugging her arm tightly as if to make sure she wouldn't vanish.
Yue Ning didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "I didn't die, did I?"
Huo Yan shook her head. "But still, I don't want to go through such trauma again."
