Huo Feng exhaled, his expression tightening with sorry.
"Yes," he admitted at last. He looked at Yue Ning again. "Are you sure it was him you saw?" he pressed, needing confirmation from her.
Yue Ning nodded slowly. Huo Feng clenched his fists, a heavy breath escaping his lips.
Yue Ning studied his face, and a bad feeling stirred in her chest.
"You know him, don't you?" she asked quietly.
Huo Feng chuckled faintly and lowered himself onto the bed. "I don't just know him… he was a very good friend of mine." Nostalgia clouded his gaze as he stared up at the ceiling.
Yue Ning sensed there was more to it than just simple friendship.
Huo Feng noticed the curiosity in her eyes.
"Do you want to hear a story?" he asked softly, and she nodded without hesitation.
With a sigh, he drew her naturally into his arms. "There were once two fine young men who were very my d good friends," he began, and Yue Ning listened with rapt attention.
