When the four were just about to step off the covered bridge, a dark, sticky substance suddenly oozed out of the concrete wall beside them! It looked like a passage torn open from another world.

From that grotesque fissure, a zombified RT lumbered out, its eyes lifeless yet filled with rage. The moment it emerged, the monster lunged straight toward Brit and the others. Their faces drained of color in an instant, hearts pounding with terror.

But this was only the beginning. Hot on its heels came 'The Old Man', that eerie figure who could drift through walls as if they were air. And even he wasn't the last. Behind him slithered 'The Shy Guy', the cursed entity that wept and shrieked whenever its face was seen, driving all who looked into madness.

From the depths of the tunnel, the group could already hear its deranged, guttural cries echoing closer.

"SH*T!" The thought crashed through their minds in unison, despair rising like a wave.

Yet the nightmare only deepened. Everyone had thought this was already the worst it could get. But fate was crueler.

From the black mire on the wall, two pale hands stretched outward, SCP-096. And at that very moment, on the opposite side of the bridge, the heavy metal door leading back to where they came suddenly swung open on its own!

Instinctively, they snapped their gaze toward the doorway. There, beyond the threshold, stood a man in a thick black robe, his hood pulled low, a beaked mask covering his face like some ghastly plague revenant. The sight made their expressions shank even further.

Kiwo broke down instantly, crying out in despair: "Oh no, why us? Why are we so unlucky?!"

Yes, behind that door was no ordinary foe. It was SCP-049, the dreaded 'Plague Doctor'! A touch was all it took for him to bring death. Doctor Death, some called him. A being whose ability was so terrifying that resistance seemed hopeless.

"Run!!!" At that crucial instant, Brit roared.

They spun on their heels and bolted, every step a fight against panic. Even in that frantic dash, Brit clutched his glass of water tightly, careful not to spill it.

Kiwo snapped out of her daze and followed.

Vale, too, wasted no time. He knew this battle was beyond him. To stay was pointless, a death without meaning. Better to flee and hope for survival.

But the opening of the metal door had been too sudden, its heavy frame still grinding slowly. The group clustered at the gate, and though Kiwo slammed the button desperately, they would still have to endure two agonizing seconds before it fully opened.

Two seconds was all it took for doom to catch up. The zombie RT barreled forward, while 'The Old Man' and 'The Shy Guy' surged with it, an unholy trio racing toward the trapped survivors.

Somewhere behind them, 'The Old Man' and 'The Shy Guy' clashed, their distorted forms colliding, yet the details were lost to Brit and the others; they dared not look back. They could only hear the monstrous roars, the hideous sobbing wails, and, beneath it all, the chilling voice of the 'Plague Doctor'.

Yes. He was speaking, even amid the chaos, the 'Plague Doctor' muttered, calm and resolute. The turmoil before him mattered little. His goal was singular: to cure the "plague." And to him, Brit and the others were already infected, desperate souls crying out for salvation. He would not relent. Step by step, he advanced toward them, ignoring the chaos of the other creatures.

The covered bridge became a battlefield of nightmares. Then, without warning, Plumbella let out a piercing scream.

A powerful hand clamped around her and yanked her backward. Her body stumbled and toppled helplessly. As she hit the ground, her eyes darted upward, straight into the grotesque face of the zombie horse monkey. It had seized her, flinging her down like prey. Its massive jaws gaped wide, ready to tear into her.

In that instant, she glimpsed 'The Old Man' grappling 'The Shy Guy' figure… and worse still, she caught sight of the shy one's face. Her heart froze. She knew death was inevitable.

"I… I saw it…" Her voice quavered as she collapsed, the world spinning. The zombie beast surged over her fallen form, ripping and devouring in a frenzy.

But with one final burst of will, she shouted, her voice cracking through the terror: "Leave me! I saw its face… I am quitting the game!"

Her avatar vanished from the nightmare, disconnected. Yet her body remained where it had fallen, left for the beast to savage. Bloodcurdling sounds of tearing filled the bridge.

Meanwhile, Brit, Kiwo, and Vale finally heard the groan of the metal door as it opened. When she fell, all three of them had instinctively reached out, but her cry had sealed her fate. She was already doomed. Their grief was sharp, but survival was the only choice.

Clenching their teeth, they dove through the threshold. But just as they did, 'The Old Man' and the shrieking 'The Shy Guy' came surging up behind them, locked in combat yet driving closer.

The 'The Shy Guy' maddening cries clawed at their ears, so close it felt like the sound rattled inside their skulls. They swore they had never endured such sheer, bone-shaking horror.

Zombies. 'The Old Man'. 'The Shy Guy'. 'The Plague Doctor' himself. All converging upon them, one after another. Right on their heels. It was unthinkable. It made them shake, blood run cold.

But the nightmare wasn't finished. No, this was not yet the worst. Because next, a new horror emerged. From just beyond the now-opened metal door, another monster revealed itself. Massive, looming, its slimy bulk glistening orange like a monstrous slug. It stood, silent and immovable, its grotesque body filling the doorway, eyes fixed coldly on them.

The sight rooted Brit and the others in place. Despair surged through their chests. They didn't know this creature, but they didn't need to. Any monster that appeared here was certain to be deadly.

At that dire moment, Vale's face twisted with grim resolve. He bared his teeth and roared: "Go, GO! I'll hold it!"

Brit and Kiwo wanted to protest, but there was no time. Escape was the only option. Even if only one survived, it would be worth it. And then, suddenly, Brit's eyes fell on the water glass in his hand.

"This glass of water…" For a heartbeat, he froze, as though lightning had struck his mind.

A realization sparked.
