The control unit was opened without resistance. Although the system was still powered on, the entire electrical center appeared untouched, as if nothing had changed at all. Yet, both of them vaguely seemed to hear the faint hum of electrical currents flowing through the lines, accompanied by the distant rumble of the exit door slowly opening. Of course, they knew this was merely an illusion, a beautiful, fleeting hope born from their desire to believe.
"Let's go. Now, SCP-079 should have regained control of this place. It should keep its promise and let us go..." Brit spoke with a tremor of emotion in his voice. After all, reaching this point had not been easy for them.
Kiwo coughed twice; the blood loss had left her head spinning, but she managed to hold herself together. Nodding firmly, she said, "Let's go..."
They turned and advanced toward the outside of the electrical center. At this moment, their task within the office area was essentially complete. The next step was to reach the surface of the containment site.
Getting there was straightforward, simply through the exit gate of the office area. Previously, that gate had been controlled by the super-intelligent AI system, which meant that even with a Level 5 keycard, they couldn't open it and escape.
But now, everything was different. They had established a strategic cooperation with the AI, opening the control unit and helping it seize control of the base. Once it had taken over, it would let them go. Of course, if the AI malfunctioned or broke down, they'd be stuck, an outcome they desperately wanted to avoid. Still, they trusted it wouldn't fail; otherwise, they wouldn't know what to do.
Leaving the electrical center, the two stepped onto the ground of the office area, their expressions firm and filled with determination. Why? Because, as outlined in the guide, the poster's ideas are only briefly introduced here.
In the subsequent content, only a vague hint is given, with little to no detailed description. What awaits them beyond the surface is unknown.
This uncertainty made their approach different from before. With no simple solution at hand, they could only proceed step by step, exploring the unknown as it came. There was no other choice; they just had to take it one step at a time.
Yet, despite the looming danger, the two remained relatively calm. Although the sense of completing the game had faded, with the poster having already cleared it, the next challenge shouldn't be insurmountable. After all, if danger still lurked ahead, the poster wouldn't have continued writing the story.
Time seemed to crawl by. As they made their way toward the exit gate, Brit and Kiwo mostly remained silent. But gradually, Kiwo's condition worsened; she was nearing her limit.
"Brit, I... I might really not be able to hold on much longer," Kiwo whispered, her face ghostly pale as she trudged through the office. She felt herself slipping into a trance, her strength waning.
Brit looked at her with concern. His mind was a tangled mess of thoughts, but in the end, he spoke softly: "It's okay. We're almost finished. The next step is just to find the exit gate."
Kiwo clearly understood that Brit was trying to comfort her. But she was determined to push through until they beat the game. She pursed her lips and offered a faint smile: "Hmm! We'll definitely make it."
Not long after her words, the two reached a metal door. When they saw what lay behind it, they paused briefly. Then, almost simultaneously, they exchanged knowing smiles...
"Finally, we found the exit…"
Indeed, in front of them was the exit in the office area. The metal gate gleamed with a cold, metallic sheen, sending a slight chill through the air. But their minds were ablaze with warmth, because reaching this point meant they had entered the final stage of the game.
