Opening the door of the gymnasium, Sugawara looked at the familiar space and couldn't help but sigh.
"School starts in just two weeks!!"
"Yes!"
"But fortunately, because of our results, we don't have to compete in the qualifiers with the other teams!"
"Otherwise, this training camp might've ended early!"
"Oh?"
"A pre-selection?"
Hearing the unfamiliar term, Hinata couldn't help but look confused.
"Aren't we going straight to next year's Spring High without needing any qualifiers?"
"What kind of fantasy are you living in?"
"Idiot!!"
Kageyama popped him from behind, visibly annoyed.
"Use your brain for once!"
"But…"
"But that's what Sugawara just said!"
" Sugawara said we don't have to participate in the pre-selection!"
"He meant the first one!!"
"Oh? First one?"
"Yes!"
Everyone else looked at Hinata, who was now rubbing the back of his head helplessly.
"Didn't you read the rules for the qualifiers?"
"The first qualifier was held last week!"
"But because we placed first in the Inter-High Tournament, we didn't have to participate in the first qualifier!"
"We just need to join the second qualifier in October, alongside the other top eight schools and the eight schools that advanced from the first round!"
"Ohhh…"
"So… The second one is sixteen schools competing for a Spring High spot?"
"Exactly!"
Sugawara nodded as he said this.
"So…"
"Let's make the most of this time to improve ourselves!"

A powerful spike was blocked and slammed onto the gym floor. On the other side of the court, Oikawa looked toward Karasuno with frustration in his eyes.
Today was the joint training session between Aoba Johsai and Karasuno.
Even in the middle of a sweltering summer break, no one had slacked off in their training!
"Hahaha!"
"What a weird second tempo attack!"
"I saw right through it, Oikawa Senpai!"
Across the net, Kageyama wore a proud expression.
"Hmph!"
Oikawa's jaw tightened at the sight of that smug face, a vein almost popping on his forehead.
And then, as if something suddenly struck him, he glanced at Kageyama with renewed interest. Crossing his arms, he smirked.
"Ahhh!"
"Yes, yes, you 'saw through it.'"
"But when I was setting, someone else made quite a few mistakes."
"Did you think I wouldn't notice?"
"Huh? Our genius setter? You don't mean you, do you?"
Oikawa stared at Kageyama with a slightly mocking look, breaking straight through his mental defenses.
"Me…"
"I…"
Kageyama lowered his head, speechless.
"Hahaha!"
Oikawa burst into unrestrained laughter.
"Don't tell me—"
"Our genius setter can't even set properly anymore?"
"I… I just miscalculated…"
Lately, when Kageyama was setting to Hinata, he'd been making mistakes.
Oddly enough, it didn't happen with other players.
That's because whenever he set to Chibi, he was always trying to evolve that strange quick attack of theirs.
But after all this time, there still hadn't been much progress.
After the match, it was finally break time.
"Hey…"
"Um…"
Kageyama had somehow wandered over to where Oikawa was sitting on the steps.
" Oikawa-Senpai…"
"Hm? What is it?"
Oikawa turned around with a slight smirk, eyeing Kageyama curiously.
"I…"
Kageyama scratched his head, clearly hesitant.
"Can you…"
"I…"
"You idiot!!"
Oikawa snapped, suddenly annoyed by Kageyama's stammering.
"If you've got something to say, spit it out!!"
"My time is precious!"
"Precious??"
At that moment, Iwaizumi appeared with a water bottle in hand.
"You don't have anything going on."
"Didn't all the first-years just go back already?"
"I…"
Oikawa looked at Iwaizumi in irritation, but one glance at Iwaizumi's unimpressed expression shut him up.
" Oikawa-Senpai, I have a question!"
"Please!!"
Suddenly, Kageyama bowed deeply and spoke up loudly.
"Oh…"
At that, not only Oikawa but even Iwaizumi looked at him in disbelief.
"Kageyama…"
"Did you really just say that?"
"Yes!"
" Iwaizumi-Senpai!"
Kageyama had already made up his mind and nodded firmly.
"But…"
Iwaizumi still looked at him in disbelief.
"You know what this idiot Oikawa is like…"
They had gone to the same junior high, after all.
Which meant Iwaizumi was well aware of the grudges and rivalry between the two.
It was honestly shocking that Kageyama would ask him for help now.
"Hey!"
"Move aside, Iwa-chan!!"
Before Iwaizumi could say anything else, Oikawa pushed past him with an over-the-top flourish.
"What are you doing!"
"A cute junior is asking his senpai for guidance. You're not gonna block that, are you?"
"Huh??"
"Still—whether the senpai actually answers depends entirely on their mood!"
"I…"
Iwaizumi clenched his fist, a vein popping on his temple.
But in the end, he said nothing and stepped aside.
Though he couldn't help glancing at Kageyama with a bit of pity.
He already knew that when it came to stuff like this, Oikawa was absolutely going to mess with him.
Then Oikawa turned back to Kageyama with that same amused look in his eyes.
"Hmm…"
"You have a question for me?"
"If I'm not mistaken, you're having issues with your quick attack with that 'Little Dot,' right?"
"This…"
Kageyama scratched his head, clearly embarrassed.
He hadn't expected Oikawa to figure it out before he even asked.
"Hmph!"
Oikawa smirked, clearly pleased with himself.
"You don't even need to say anything. I already know what's got you stuck."
"But…"
Oikawa leaned in close, his smile turning sharp.
"Why should I help you?"
"You do realize we're rivals, right?"
He casually picked at his nails, visibly annoyed.
"I don't see why I should be solving your problems for you!"
