Chapter 243 - Chapter 243

When Kageyama returned to the gymnasium, He began to reflect deeply on what he had done before.

"Huh?"

"What are you doing here??"

Keishin Ukai, who had just walked in from outside the door, couldn't help but feel a little surprised when he saw Kageyama standing there.

After all, recently, Kageyama had been obsessed with improving their quick attack with Shōyō Hinata.

But it was already late, the sun had set, and even the players from Aoba Johsai High had already left by bus.

Why was this kid still here, standing around in a daze?

Didn't he have a home to go to?

When Kageyama saw it was Coach Ukai who had entered, his eyes lit up.

Just now, Tōru Oikawa had pointed him in a general direction for improving the "quick attack" play!

But when it came to exactly how to improve it, Kageyama didn't really understand.

That's why he had been silently thinking things through in the gym.

Now that Coach Ukai was here, maybe he could help him figure it out in detail.

After explaining everything to Keishin Ukai in front of him, Ukai rubbed his chin thoughtfully, falling into deep contemplation.

"I might not be able to give you the answer you're looking for," Ukai finally said, shaking his head with some regret.

"Ahhh..."

Kageyama's face fell with disappointment.

"Does that mean this kind of quick attack can't be improved any further?"

Seeing the frustration in his expression, a smirk crept onto Ukai's face.

"However, I do know someone who can definitely answer your question."

"Oh?"

Kageyama's eyes lit up!

He had nearly given up hope when Ukai said he didn't know—but now it turned out someone else could solve the problem?

"Who is it? I'll go find them right now!"

"Hahaha!"

"No rush! No rush!"

"Tomorrow morning during our rest day, I'll take you and Hinata to meet him!"

Ukai grinned smugly.

Ever since he'd coached Karasuno to the championship, his grandfather, Ikkei Ukai, had gotten a lot tougher with his words.

The old man never hesitated to scold him harshly for any misstep.

But now that things had settled down, the elder Ukai had softened up a little.

Lately, Keishin had been visiting him more frequently.

Tomorrow was the weekend—originally a day off for everyone—but he was planning to check on his grandfather again anyway.

To Keishin, the championship wasn't as important as the old man's health.

So, when Kageyama brought up his question, he immediately thought of letting his grandfather handle it.

Later, Ukai and Kageyama found Hinata, who was in the locker room changing clothes.

The three of them would go to the Ukai family home together the next day!

...

Ka~~Ka~

On the morning of the rest day, Akira was adjusting the large wooden lounge chair he had just bought for his home.

It was the perfect match for the cool breeze under the shade of the trees in summer!

After assembling it, he dragged it under the big tree in his yard.

The recliner had soft cushions, so it was super comfortable to lie on.

Meow~

Just as he lay down, a soft, childish cry reached his ears.

"Huh??"

A giant question mark seemed to pop up over Akira's head.

He looked down—and saw a tiny kitten squatting at his feet, looking up at him with wide, shiny eyes.

Its little black eyes blinked slowly, and its short tail twitched back and forth—it was unbearably cute.

"This..."

Akira was caught off guard.

Why was there a kitten, barely weaned by the looks of it, suddenly at his feet?

Creak!

At that moment, the wooden gate to his yard opened suddenly.

Kiyoko Shimizu, dressed in a breezy summer outfit, carried a plate of brightly colored strawberries as she quietly stepped inside and closed the door behind her.

The moment she entered, she saw Akira staring wide-eyed at the kitten—and the kitten staring wide-eyed at him. She couldn't help but chuckle softly.

"Oh? You're here,Kiyo!" Akira greeted her with a scratch of his head, using the affectionate nickname he had for her.

He then pointed at the milk kitten that was cutely wriggling at his feet, asking curiously:

"Do you know this cat?"

"Why is it suddenly in my yard?"

Kiyoko set the plate of strawberries on the nearby stone table, then sat down next to Akira, her eyes fixed on the little kitten with interest.

Meow~Meow~~

Seeing Kiyoko approach, the kitten meowed even more energetically.

With uncoordinated limbs, it tried to clamber up onto her lap.

"Look at this little one..." Kiyoko scooped the kitten into her palm and observed it closely, puzzled.

"It should be one of Kuroka's kittens, right?"

Akira remembered that Kuroka was a calico cat that often roamed around the neighborhood.

She had a cute face, a gentle temperament, and was very well-liked.

Kiyoko often spent her free time feeding Kuroka .

Now that she mentioned it, the kitten did look very similar to the adult cat.

After Kiyoko's reminder, everything clicked into place for Akira.

"Kuroka's kid..."

"But why did it suddenly show up at my place?"

Akira scratched his head, still confused.

"I guess it wandered off on its own..." Kiyoko said, though she didn't sound very sure herself.

She half-leaned into Akira's arms, absentmindedly poking at the little kitten with a slender white finger.
