Gray laid back in his bed, staring up at the shop interface in front of him. While he had just gotten back to the planet and wanted to meet back up with his friends immediately, they were still recruits in training. The morning training wouldn't be done for another couple of hours, so he was lounging in his room killing time as he waited for them to finish.
As he did, he took another look through the shop. He had a ton of coins now and could afford some of the serious expensive stuff.
It feels like I'm being an idiot if I don't buy them now.
Gray had been staring at one item in particular for a while, a thousand different thoughts flowing through his head.
[Earthly Dragon Ball Set] - 6,000,000 Coins
The dragons balls were, frankly, overpowered. In the show they were largely used to bring people back to life or for gags, but they had a lot of potential.
I'm not doing immortality yet.
The fear of being shoved into a dead-zone esque inescapable room, unable to die but also unable to escape, was too large for Gray to take that risk. He'd prefer to risk going to otherworld over that. Immortality would wait until he was stronger - preferably until he could use God-Ki and not risk being stomped by a Kai or Beerus.
But I can still make another wish.
His choice of a wish depended a lot on the limitations that came from Shenron. The dragon couldn't just outright make him more powerful, as his limitations relied on the power of Kami. That limitation also likely blocked the majority of the [Godly] or above perks and skills. That limitation actually blocked a lot of things, but Gray still had a couple of ideas.
My full potential.
Piccolo had wished for Shenron to unlock his full potential and the dragon had been able to grant it.
In theory, Orange Piccolo should be far stronger than my base Legendary Super Saiyan form. So, Shenron should be able to unlock it, right?
Not completely right. The current Kami was much more powerful than the canon Kami was at this point in the timeline, but he wasn't insanely strong. At the time of Piccolo's wish, Kami had already fused with him, and Piccolo was far stronger than current Kami was. Even if Kami had taken Gray's words to 'get stronger' to heart and was training his ass off, it wasn't nearly as much.
Even if Kami was as strong as I am right now, he wouldn't be close.
Piccolo's power level at the time was in the quintillions - much higher than Kami's current couple of hundred million. That also wasn't taking into account that Dende was the new creator of the dragon balls, and that he had made them stronger.
I don't know what 'Earthly Dragon Balls' entails.
It would be smarter to hold off on making any wishes until Kami was stronger and the limitations were lesser, or even to hold off until he found a stronger Namekian to make a set of dragon balls and take over for Kami. Making a rash wish could speed up his growth, but it could also fuck him over.
I'm not in a rush.
The anxiety that came with knowing that King Vegeta or part of the Frieza Family could kill him whenever they felt like it was annoying, but not annoying enough to act rashly. He could take it slow, grow his power, lay under the radar, and then make a grand wish to push him over the top. Frieza wouldn't know what hit him.
I'm probably overthinking all of this, but…
Six million coins was no small amount. If he used the wish and the limitation blocked it, then he needed to have a backup one. Preferably, a lot of backup ones.
Do I just say fuck it and wish for infinite energy?
He wasn't even sure if that was possible either.
Fuck.
Gray groaned, staring at the ceiling above him. This was not what he wanted to be doing today.
This is too much thinking. I just wanna see my friends again.
He decided not to make a wish. If he did it on Planet Vegeta, he'd attract King Vegeta's attention when a big-ass dragon appeared anyway.
But, I will buy this!

Gray grinned, looking at the item. He would be able to train efficiently even without a gravity room, and…
I'll look cool as fuck when I take this off and power up!

"Gray!" Gray grinned as Asia barreled at him, the smaller girl wrapping him in a tight hug. Her sizeable breasts pressed into him, but for once he wasn't actually focused on the girl's soft body.
"I'm back," He said softly, reaching down and patting the short girl's head lightly as she hugged him.
They were currently standing in the C-Class cafeteria, which was much nicer than the F-Class one he was used to. There were still machines sitting around to dispense the food, but despite the smaller number of recruits in the class it was much larger. The tables were also nicer, having actual chairs and condiments on the table instead of just long benches.
Some of the C-Class recruits around them looked at them strangely as Asia rushed at him, but Gray didn't care. As he looked down at Asia, he realized how much he actually missed the adorable girl while he was gone.
It was only actually a couple of months, but it feels a lot longer.
Those couple of months had been filled with so much action that they felt like entire years.
"Finally back?" Tamari called out to him, moving at a much less rushed pace. Behind her was Raphtalia, Ochaco, and Saeko as well. Celia had split away from Gray earlier, simply stating that she needed to 'handle something' before he reached his room earlier.
"I am," Gray grinned at her, taking note of the womans large smile despite how nonchalant she was trying to act, "I don't get a hug from you?"
"You would've if you came back on time," Tamari deadpanned, slapping his shoulder lightly, "I was worried, y'know?"
"Sorry," Gray smiled sheepishly. As he greeted Ochaco and Raphtalia as well, they moved over to one of the tables in the corner of the room, continuing their chat there.
"How was Planet Earth?" Asia asked curiously, looking up at him cutely as she sat next to him, "Celia said it was super pretty!"
"She said that?" Gray asked disbelievingly. Earth was definitely beautiful in his opinion, especially compared to the rocky and bland Planet Vegeta, but he didn't think Celia was the type of person to appreciate natural beauty.
"She did," Ochaco confirmed, smiling brightly at him, "Though, she wouldn't tell us much more about the mission!"
"We were leaving it for you," Saeko explained at her words, nodding at Gray, "You did most of the work anyways. You can tell them about it."
The next hour consisted of one of the few moments of reprieve Gray would have in this world, truly enjoying just sitting and talking with his friends. He told them all about his mission on Earth, only leaving out a few moments like his training with Yamoshi, along with a much quicker and abridged story about his time on Yardrat. The thoughts of battles, grinding skills, growing his strength, and anything else stressful disappeared. For just an hour, Gray felt like he was still a human. A human sitting in a school cafeteria talking with his friends.
This is nice.
But, like all nice things, it had to come to an end eventually.
"Oh, right," Gray hummed, "How is C-Class? Celia told me about how the two classes were merged."
"It's… something," Tamari chuckled, a slightly strange look in her eyes, "It started out a bit rough, but it's not much different from F-Class now."
"Rough?" Gray raised an eyebrow at her, glancing around the cafeteria as he kept an eye out for a muscular boy, "Where are Ken's brothers? Ren and…"
Gray trailed off, blinking as he realized he didn't actually remember any of the other boys' names.
Probably some letter followed by 'en.'
"That's…" Tamari didn't answer, and Gray was confused as a dark look formed on her face. The bright mood plummeted, taking a darker turn as tension formed in the air.
"What happened?" Gray asked bluntly as none of the girls would look at him, save for Saeko, who didn't seem bothered by the atmosphere at all.
What the hell happened to them?
"Dareth and Bareth are under the same instructor as us…" Tamari started, and Gray's eyes sharpened.
"What did he do?" Gray growled, silently berating his past self for not just killing Dareth and being done with it.
I should've just fucking killed him.
He had been new to the world at the time and wasn't accustomed enough to battle or being a Saiyan to bring himself to take a life. But if he knew that Dareth would become a recurring problem, he would've sucked it up and just finished him off.
"Everyone is fine," Raphtalia intervened nervously, placing a hand on Gray's shoulder. Gray relaxed lightly at the motion, pulling in the aura of Ki that he hadn't realized he was letting off.
"A woman from the laboratory, or, um, Shizuka," Ochaco corrected herself mid-sentence, "Has been protecting us. She said she knew you."
Gray blinked in surprise at her words.
Damn, I owe her a lot.
Gray was surprised that Shizuka went out of her way to protect his friends, especially since he had only met with her a couple of times. He'd have to visit her sooner than he planned to thank her.
"But Ren…" Asia spoke up, her voice shaking slightly, "He's unconscious."
"Not just him!" Tamari grunted, slamming her fist down on the table angrily, "Damn it! Ren is unconscious and his brothers… Yen and Len are dead! They fucking killed them!"
Gray's eyes hardened at her words, his hand clenching into a fist. His eyes scanned over Tamari's distraught face, and his resolve hardened. Her eyes were narrowed, and she was biting her lip lightly.
I didn't even know their names, but…
They had died protecting his friends. Even if Gray only met Ren a few times, and if he knew Yen and Len so little that he couldn't even remember their names, they had done him a favor he could never repay.
It was more than that - they didn't just die defending his friends, but they were also Ken's brothers. He had only known Ken for a short time, but he was a good man. Gray liked the boy enough that he had no problem planning to use a dragon ball wish to revive him in the future.
I owe it to them, and I owe it to Ken.
Gray stood up abruptly, knocking over his chair and bringing all the girl's eyes to him.
I'll do what I was too pathetic to do before.
His eyes hardened.
I'll kill Dareth. I'll kill Bareth. I'll kill them both.
