Chapter 26 - ch.25

The morning sun bathed the valley in soft golden light as Aetherion stood at the edge of the river, gazing out over the land that had become their new home. His followers were already awake, moving about the valley, their hearts filled with hope and determination. The Sacred Flame had led them here, and now it was time to begin building something lasting.

But Aetherion knew that faith alone would not be enough to sustain their community. The flame had chosen him as its divine leader, but the growing group needed guidance—leaders who could serve as stewards of the flame, who would ensure that its light continued to burn brightly.

As he contemplated this, the system's voice echoed in his mind. [Aetherion, the community has grown, and with it, the responsibilities of leadership. You cannot guide them alone. The Sacred Flame requires leaders to tend to its power and to guide your followers in their daily lives.]

Aetherion nodded, already aware of what needed to be done. "A High Priest," he murmured, "and two Priests or Priestesses. They will help carry the flame's teachings and ensure that its light spreads throughout the sanctuary."

The system continued, its voice calm and clear. [You will need to choose three followers—those who have shown great faith, wisdom, and strength. One to serve as the High Priest and two to serve as Priests or Priestesses.]

Aetherion glanced toward his followers, who were gathered around the center of the valley. Among them were several who had shown extraordinary devotion to the flame, but he needed to be certain.

[You may already know who among them is worthy,] the system added. [But I will assist you in making the final decision.]

Aetherion took a deep breath and walked toward his followers, his eyes scanning their faces. Elyon, ever the faithful and pragmatic leader, had always been strong in his devotion. Saphiel, gentle and wise, had been a guiding light for many of the others. There was also Kiros, whose analytical mind and calm demeanor had helped them navigate difficult decisions.

The system's voice spoke once more. [These three have proven their faith and strength. Choose wisely, for they will be the flame's stewards.]

Aetherion stood before his gathered followers, his voice steady as he addressed them. "The Sacred Flame has chosen this land for us, and it is our duty to ensure that it continues to burn brightly. To do this, we need leaders—those who will guide you in your faith and help build our sanctuary."

He paused, his eyes falling on Elyon, Saphiel, and Kiros. "Elyon, Saphiel, Kiros, step forward."

The three chosen followers exchanged glances of surprise and gratitude before stepping forward to stand before Aetherion.

"You have all shown great faith and strength," Aetherion continued. "Elyon, you will serve as High Priest of the Sacred Flame. Your wisdom and leadership will guide this community."

Elyon bowed his head, his expression filled with reverence. "It is an honor, Aetherion. I will serve the flame faithfully."

"Saphiel and Kiros," Aetherion said, turning to them, "you will serve as Priests of the Sacred Flame. Together, you will ensure that the flame's light reaches every corner of our sanctuary."

Both Saphiel and Kiros bowed deeply, their faces filled with gratitude. "We will do all that is required," Saphiel said softly.

As the new leaders stood before Aetherion, the system's voice spoke again. [Before they can officially take on their roles, a ritual must be performed. The flame must bless them as its stewards, and they must call upon the Sacred Fire to bind their souls to its power.]

Aetherion nodded. "The flame will bless you now. Your first act as leaders will be to erect a great fire, a flame that will symbolize your bond to the Sacred Flame. Once it is lit, you will ask the flame to bless your leadership."

Elyon, Saphiel, and Kiros exchanged determined looks before stepping back to begin the ritual. With their combined psychic abilities, they focused their minds and reached out to the flame, gathering branches, stones, and kindling from the surrounding valley. The materials floated through the air, guided by their powers, and formed into a towering pyre in the center of the sanctuary.

As the pyre stood ready, Aetherion raised his staff, and the Halo of Sacred Fire above his head flared to life. "Let the flame bless you," he said, his voice resonating with divine power.

Aetherion extended his hand, and the Sacred Flame leapt from his staff, igniting the pyre with a brilliant flash of light. The fire roared to life, its golden flames flickering and dancing in the air. The followers gathered around, their eyes wide with awe as the flame burned higher, filling the valley with its radiant glow.

Elyon, Saphiel, and Kiros knelt before the fire, their heads bowed in reverence. Together, they spoke the Sacred Prayer they had learned, calling upon the flame to bless them in their new roles.

"O Sacred Flame, light of the divine,Burn within us, purify our souls,Guide our hearts, and strengthen our will,That we may serve as keepers of your light."

As the prayer ended, the Sacred Flame responded. A pulse of divine energy radiated from the fire, surrounding the three leaders with its warmth. The flame flickered and danced around them, sealing their bond with the Sacred Fire.

Aetherion smiled softly, watching as the flame accepted their prayer. "You are now bound to the flame. Lead with wisdom, and let its light guide you."

With the ritual complete, the community was filled with renewed energy and purpose. The flame had blessed their leaders, and now it was time to begin building their sanctuary in earnest. Using their psychic powers, the followers worked together, shaping the natural resources around them into homes and structures.

Saphiel led a group that focused on creating shelters from the sturdy wood of the ancient trees. The logs, guided by their minds, floated through the air and came together seamlessly to form the walls and roofs of the first homes. Kiros, always analytical, oversaw the construction of a central meeting hall, where the community could gather to worship the flame.

Elyon, as High Priest, directed the building of a large altar at the heart of the sanctuary, where the Sacred Flame would burn eternally. The followers worked in harmony, their psychic powers making the labor swift and efficient. In a matter of days, the first structures of their new home began to take shape.

As the sun set over the valley, the first homes stood proudly against the backdrop of the mountains, their roofs bathed in the soft glow of the Sacred Flame. The altar, now complete, flickered with a small, steady flame, a reminder of the divine power that guided them.

Aetherion stood before the altar, his followers gathered around him. The sanctuary was still in its infancy, but already it felt like home. The flame's presence was strong here, and he knew that with time, this place would become a haven for those who sought the light.

"You have all done well," Aetherion said, his voice filled with pride. "The flame burns brightly within you, and together, we will build something that will last for generations. This sanctuary will be a beacon of hope and strength."

His followers nodded, their hearts filled with faith and determination. The journey had been long, but they had found their place. The Sacred Flame would guide them, and under the leadership of their new priests, they would continue to grow stronger.
