Chapter 377 - Chapter 377, Cold Glint Decapitation

Chapter 377, Cold Glint Decapitation

"Then this sword is useless, it even kills its own wielder," Wu Heng complained.

Sheila Grey replied, "That's how cursed swords are. Each weapon has its own unique traits, but the drawbacks always affect the user."

Compared to Keramu's cursed sword, this one actually has a smaller drawback.

When wielded, it only affects your thoughts, making you want to challenge impossible opponents.

But this cursed sword doesn't differentiate between friend or foe. Once unsheathed, it just kills indiscriminately.

"Then how did the previous owner of this sword use it?" Wu Heng continued to ask.

The previous owner.

There had to be some way, right?

Sheila Grey frowned for a moment and then said, "I honestly don't know who the last wielder was, but it's certain that such a weapon would be rarely used. For a swordsman, using a weapon that restricts themselves is a fatal error."

"This sword is really a curse for whoever buys it!" Wu Heng sighed helplessly.

"The consortium sold it at auction, so the buyer must be wealthy—the kind of person with more money than sense, probably just to collect it," Sheila Grey smiled and continued, "However, used correctly, a cursed sword can still produce unexpected effects. Keramu's notorious reputation largely stems from possessing a cursed sword."

"Has no one figured out a way to use this sword that targets all moving life forms?"

Sheila Grey thought for a moment again before saying, "As long as you can figure out a way to sheath the sword, that would be enough. But why is a mage like you so interested in a cursed sword?"

"Well, I kind of have this dream of becoming a swordsman."

"You can't handle the hardship of swordsmanship, stick to being a mage," Sheila Grey teased, then added, "I'll have someone check on it for you, find out who the previous owner was and how they used it. It shouldn't be difficult through 'Whisperers.'"

Then, she looked up again, "That sword—you didn't buy it, did you?"

"How could I? I only just heard about it."

"True, the consortium wouldn't let just anyone participate; there are criteria for participants."

"Don't look down on me just because I'm young and broke!"

Sheila Grey rolled her eyes, laughing, "The task to capture pirates should be coming down from above soon. We should plan to deal with it together."

"It's coming down this quickly?"

"It seems so. Pirate groups are becoming more active, and if the orders don't come soon, trading companies can't set sail."

"True," Wu Heng nodded.

Suddenly, he thought of Philipa.

Last time, she received a message via a blank envelope to rob the Lingjiao Trading Company, but recently there hadn't been any news.

"By the way, aren't you still wanted by pirates? Be careful."

"Yes, it's a bit troublesome."

"No worries. You'll be safe on the island."

After chatting for a while, Wu Heng stood up to leave.

He had mainly come to ask about the cursed sword, and now that Sheila Grey promised to look into it, he just had to wait.

Returning to his study.

Andviel was also in the room, reviewing the documents that had been sent over.

Wu Heng sat nearby for a while, then greeted her and left the guild.

He headed back home.

...

Returning home.

As he pushed open the courtyard gate,

He saw Minnie training in the yard with Bagdong.

Fists and kicks lashed out, stirring gusts of wind.

It seemed she was training harder than before.

"Master!" Minnie waved from a distance.

"Keep at it, I'm fine," Wu Heng called back to her.

Minnie smiled, "Alright."

She then resumed training with Bagdong.

Kicks and punches created whooshing sounds.

Though they had little opportunity for actual combat, Minnie's efforts lately, coupled with Wu Heng's continued administration of zombie core potions,

meant that once back in Rentam City, she would be a formidable fighter.

At the very least, she could become a backbone member of a gang, perhaps even a small gang's boss.

She would no longer be the little slave who hadn't even switched professions.

Wu Heng went upstairs to his study.

Poured himself a cup of tea, drained it in one gulp,

Opened the dimensional gate, and returned to the zombie world.

On the other side, still in the manager's office.

He pulled out the walkie-talkie and pressed the button, "Qi Hancai, do you read?"

"I hear you!" Qi Hancai's voice came through the speaker.

"Is everything alright now?"

"Just organizing patrols, heading upstairs now."

Wu Heng said, "Prepare the vehicles; we're heading to that place we talked about last time to clear out the zombies."

"Roger that!"

He ended the transmission.

Wu Heng tidied himself up briefly, then headed downstairs with the skeletons.

Reaching the other entrance of the mall.

Two trucks and an off-road vehicle fitted with a machine gun were parked at the entrance.

Wu Heng had the skeleton troops gathered, then took the front passenger seat.

The convoy set off for 'Trade City,' the location they had discussed.

...

Trade City wasn't far from the roundabout.

It was only a 20-minute drive before they could see the sign in the distance.

Looking ahead, there was still a road blocked by vehicles and a group of wandering zombies.

"Stop the vehicles here and change out the magazines for the Skeleton Wyverns."

"Understood!" Qi Hancai nodded and issued the orders via walkie-talkie.

Wu Heng also got out of the car, advancing some distance forward with his skeleton army.

He released Glenda and Xiaoxiao, ordering them to scout the situation.

Not long after, the two ghosts flew back.

Xiaoxiao said, "Uncle, there's a big zombie inside."

Glenda added, "I took a look around too, and there's just that one mutant zombie."

"Let me see!" Wu Heng said.

The two ghosts merged into his body, sharing their vision in his mind.

The roads leading into Trade City were packed with zombies.

Among them, there were a few evolved zombies—not many, but their shriveled skin made them easy to spot.

These evolved zombies were former regular zombies that had mutated. They weren't as powerful as mutant zombies but had gained some intelligence.

They could adapt to situations better.

The mutant zombie mentioned by the two ghosts was wandering aimlessly on the first floor of Trade City.

It moved back and forth without any specific target.

As for the other floors, only some regular zombies were wandering around.

After seeing this,

He let the two ghosts out again and instructed, "Glenda, scout the area. Xiaoxiao, keep an eye on that mutant zombie. If it makes any move, come back and tell me."

"Okay!" Xiaoxiao agreed and flew off.

Glenda also nodded, ascending to observe the whole area from above.

Both ghosts left.

Wu Heng picked up the walkie-talkie, "Are we ready?"

Wang Chengang's voice came through, "Ready. The wyverns are ready to take off."

"Good."

Ending the call.

Wu Heng patted two of the skeletal dogs beside him and pointed ahead, "Go lure the zombies over here."

Swoosh! Swoosh!

The two skeletal dogs dashed forward, sprinting past the wrecked vehicles and approaching the zombies.

Once within a hundred meters, they were spotted by the zombies ahead.

Seeing the bizarre skeletal frames wagging their tails, the zombies let out ear-piercing roars.

The roars attracted the attention of the surrounding zombies, whose rotten heads turned, joining in with their own howls.

Like an infection, the howls spread layer by layer.

The skeletal dogs turned and bolted.

The horde began to chase after them, clawing and roaring as they moved.

In an instant, the dense horde spilled from Trade City's entrance and the surrounding alleys, converging onto the main road and forming a tide of corpses chasing the skeletal dogs.

The two skeletal dogs kept running, occasionally glancing back to check the distance.

Wu Heng watched the oncoming horde—fewer than during the roundabout operation.

Seeing that they had mostly gathered, he ordered Big-Head Skeleton beside him, "Send in the Skeleton Wyverns."

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

With a deafening roar, five massive Skeleton Wyverns shot into the sky.

Reaching the top of the horde, they dropped iron bombs.

The black iron rain spread over the entire horde below.

The next second—

Boom, boom, boom!

The ground shook as thick smoke rose.

The once road-clogging horde was instantly wiped out.

Only a few dozen surviving zombies stood amidst the remnants of flesh and limbs.

"Uncle! The mutant zombie is charging out!" Xiaoxiao appeared beside him, pointing ahead.

Wu Heng looked in the direction she pointed.

A large mutant zombie, covered in wounds and bloody holes, emerged from the side.

Along with the remaining zombies, it charged furiously in their direction.

Wu Heng nodded. Just as he was about to order the skeletons to block it, an idea struck him.

He took out [Silentblade Cursed Sword] and handed it to a level-3 skeletal warrior.

"Go, move forward!"

The skeletal warrior, holding the cursed sword, stepped out of the formation and walked toward the charging zombies.

Once it reached a certain distance.

Wu Heng instructed Big-Head Skeleton, "Order it to draw the weapon, then stay put."

Swish~!

The skeletal warrior in the distance drew the sword sharply, its tip pointing to the ground, entering a standby state.

Meanwhile, the leading large mutant zombie roared angrily, leaping off a car roof with both fists smashing toward the lone figure.

Splat~!

Suddenly, a cold glint flashed across the sky.

The airborne mutant zombie's furious expression froze.

Its body fell from the sky, its head rolling far away.

Then, more cold flashes appeared one after another, as if silver threads were slashing across the sky.

The zombies that rushed in had their heads lopped off, one after another.

Until the very last zombie fell.

...

In the rear.

Wu Heng's eyes widened, watching the scene before him.

This method of attack was truly astonishing.

At the same time, it reminded him of 'Imiro's' method—releasing sword energy from afar, killing 'Keramu.'

But the two methods were different.

Imiro's sword energy was unleashed from his weapon.

The cold glint that just severed the zombies' necks seemed to appear out of nowhere.

There was a clear difference.

But regardless, the power of this cursed sword was shocking.

Instantly killing a level-10 mutant zombie along with dozens, nearly a hundred, regular zombies.

With one person holding the road, it would be difficult for anyone to pass.

Unless they attacked from afar to kill the wielder.

It was quite terrifying.

Seeing the scene calm down, Wu Heng said directly, "Have it sheath the sword."

The skeletal warrior in the distance sheathed the sword instantly.

The moment the blade entered its sheath—

A cold glint flashed, and the skeleton's head rolled aside.

"Damn it!" Wu Heng cursed.

Sheathing the sword counts as movement too?

This sword clearly doesn't intend for its wielder to survive.

...

The skeleton collapsed, its bones scattered.

"Go, pick up the sword," Wu Heng ordered.

A skeleton quickly walked over,

Bent down, picked up the sword, and returned.

It seemed that once sheathed, it was fine.

Taking the sword, Wu Heng put it back into the spatial ring and continued, "All troops advance, kill all remaining zombies!"

The waiting army began to move forward.

The zombies missing their lower halves, still crawling on the ground, were swiftly killed.

Once the battlefield was quiet again.

He had the skeletons sweep through Trade City once more before ordering the battlefield to be cleaned up.

The body of one mutant zombie and five evolved zombie corpses were dragged over.

Piled to the side.

[Raise Skeleton] activated.

A level-12 tall skeleton, along with five level-5 skeletal soldiers, rose from the ground.

Wu Heng squatted, rummaging through the piles of flesh.

He found one level-2 zombie core and one level-1 zombie core.

Wrapped them in a plastic bag and put them into the spatial ring.

...

Step, step, step~!

Qi Hancai, wearing leather boots, emerged from Trade City.

She said directly, "Inside, there are beds, curtains, and some furniture—quite a lot of it."

"Is there any 3D printing material that Zhang Chi needs?"

"Haven't seen it yet, but the entire third floor is filled with computer parts and surveillance equipment. It should be in there."

"Alright, let's go take a look."

They walked together into Trade City.

The first floor was all fabric stores—curtains, wedding quilts, and such. Opening the doors to a couple of stores, they found warehouses inside.

Stacks of fabric goods filled the place.

Physical stores weren't as popular as they used to be, but it seemed like business here was still decent.

The second floor was full of furniture stores—mostly coffee tables and wooden beds, along with quite a few tutoring centers.

The third floor had computer products—mice, monitors, and some surveillance gear.

Wu Heng and Qi Hancai wandered around for a while.

They found a store selling 3D printing equipment.

The shop was a bit messy, but in a room at the back, they still found many similar devices and raw materials.

"This must be the one Zhang Chi mentioned," Qi Hancai said.

"Alright, take it all when we start looting."

"Okay! I'll have some skeletons guard this place first. I'll bring the scavenging team tomorrow."

"Alright!"

The two of them went downstairs again.

Wu Heng started to cast [Battlefield of the Dead] along the way, transforming all the corpses into skeletal warriors.

Once everything was converted, he left some skeletons to guard the place.

He got back into the truck and returned to the mall.

After confirming that he had nothing else to do,

He opened the dimensional gate in the manager's office and returned to Gold-Silver Island.

...

Coming down from the study.

Passing the third floor.

He walked directly into the radio room.

He picked up the skeleton investigator's notebook to take a look—there was no new information.

His thoughts turned to concern for 'Philipa's' safety.

Picking up the microphone, he said directly, "Philipa, are you there?"

On the other side, Philipa's voice came through, mumbling as she ate, "I'm having dinner, what's up?"

Hearing her relaxed tone, Wu Heng felt reassured.

Though they hadn't interacted much, she worked under him.

He didn't want anything to happen to her.

After all, Philipa was pretty obedient.

"How did the attack on the trading company go? Why haven't there been any updates?" Wu Heng asked.

"Ugh, don't get me started. That Lingjiao Trading Company is a bunch of idiots. I even told the crew to slow down, but their ship kept losing control and stopped several times—we almost caught up to them," Philipa said angrily.

"As long as you're alright."

"Aw, are you worried about me, dear boss?"

"I just don't want you getting hurt," Wu Heng replied.

Philipa continued, "The crew's a bit upset since we didn't get anything this time. When are you sending me the ships and goods you promised?"

"I'll arrange for a freighter to leave port tomorrow."

"Really? Thanks, Daddy!"
