Chapter 433: There's Still an Ambush
This is good news.
At least on the island, I have the advantage.
Adjusting his cloak, Wu Heng tucked the pendant into his sleeve and rushed in the directed path.
Half an hour later.
The sky grew darker, and there were no people in sight.
Only a few constructed houses and unpaved stone roads could be seen.
This area was still part of the expansion zone. As a maritime trade hub, Gold-Silver Island's layout struggled to keep up with its development.
Finally, Wu Heng reached the location pointed out by the pendant.
In the distance stood a two-story stone building, with firelight visible from the rooms inside.
Without a doubt, the person should be inside.
Concealing his body in a dim corner, Wu Heng stashed the pendant back into his spatial ring.
Then, two phantoms appeared by his side, one on the left and one on the right.
"Uncle, where is this?" Xiaoxiao, freshly summoned, asked in confusion.
Glenda, having just cooperated to retrieve the hairband, had a basic understanding of the situation.
Wu Heng pointed to the distant stone building. "I have an informant who has been kidnapped. They're in that building. Xiaoxiao, go scout the house and confirm the enemies' levels and numbers."
"Got it!" Xiaoxiao agreed and flew off immediately.
Wu Heng then turned to Glenda. "Check the surrounding buildings to see if there are any other ambushes."
Glenda vanished into the air and flew off without a word.
Within minutes, the invisible Xiaoxiao returned.
"There are five people inside, two above level 10, and the others below level 10."
Only five people?
"Let me see!"
Xiaoxiao merged into Wu Heng's body, instantly sharing the scene inside the building.
The interior of the stone building revealed a primitive brick wall structure. Around a wooden table sat five individuals.
Three had iron swords at their waists, one carried a curved blade, and another held a crossbow.
It matched the intelligence completely.
On the wooden table were some food and beer.
A man with a round shield hanging on his arm and a one-handed sword placed before him took a swig of beer. "They didn't follow the plan to send her out to sea. Why not just kill her? Keeping her around is a hassle."
The crossbowman replied, "Maybe she's still useful, or someone wants to enjoy her before killing her. After all, she's not bad-looking."
The man with the curved blade said, "We're just here to do our job. Why care about the rest?"
"Stop being so serious; we're just chatting."
Among them, the round shield Warrior and the man with the curved blade were level 10 Professionals.
The others glowed with strong auras but hadn't reached level 10, appearing to be around levels 8 or 9.
Xiaoxiao then flew to the second floor, which was completely empty.
She descended into the basement.
There, bound to a chair, was Milisen.
There were no visible injuries on her, and her clothes remained intact.
She was slumped over, her head tilted, with dull and lifeless eyes.
The shared vision ended, and Wu Heng released Xiaoxiao.
"I've seen this lady before. Wasn't she on the pirate ship earlier?" Xiaoxiao asked.
"You have a good memory."
"So, she's turned over a new leaf now?"
"Kind of. She's gathering intelligence for me now."
As the two chatted, Glenda returned from the distance. "I found some people in two other buildings, about ten in each, fully equipped with armor and weapons. They're likely waiting for you."
So, there really are others.
Being able to mobilize so many people on the island.
This made Wu Heng even more curious about the identity of the organization behind this kidnapping.
Wu Heng pondered his next steps.
Having heard Xiaoxiao's report, Glenda analyzed the situation. "For you, rescuing her isn't difficult, but you need to plan the sequence of actions. If you kill the ones outside first, the hostage guards might kill her immediately. If you rescue her first, the others will converge on you. I suggest using your skeletons from the other world or requesting the Guild's assistance."
Wu Heng considered the matter carefully.
If he used skeletons, he'd have to kill everyone.
Of course, given the skeletons' numbers and levels, it wouldn't be a big deal.
"Alright, I understand," Wu Heng said, scaling the courtyard wall and slipping into a building.
Inside, he found a wooden door. Taking out a key, he opened the boundary door.
...…
The night deepened.
Rattle-rattle~!
The dense sound of bones grinding against each other filled the air as a large group of skeletons burst out of the building. They immediately split into two small teams, heading toward the locations Glenda had identified.
Wu Heng led several skeletons to quickly approach the target building.
Inside the building, the five individuals continued chatting.
"This night is so boring. How about we make use of her first? She's going to die anyway," the crossbowman said, taking a swig of beer. He gestured, "With hips that big, she'd be heavenly."
The others, hearing this, began to feel restless.
"What if someone finds out? They might use it as an excuse to dock our pay."
The crossbowman cursed, "Screw it! What's there to fear? She's barely conscious. What could she say?"
"Alright, carry her over. Even just groping her would be better than sitting around."
"I'll go then," the crossbowman said, heading toward the basement.
Step-step-step~!
Suddenly, footsteps echoed from the entrance.
Before they could react.
Bang~!
The door was kicked open, revealing a figure wielding a sword.
With one hand on the ground, a cloud of mist spread instantly, enveloping the figure as they vanished.
The farthest crossbowman, startled, leapt forward instinctively.
Swish~!
A cold glint flashed across the back of his neck.
His forward motion saved him from decapitation but still left his neck severely cut. Blood spurted like a fountain.
"Damn it! Help me!" the crossbowman cried, clutching his neck and stumbling.
The others were instantly alarmed.
They grabbed the weapons on the table, ready to fight.
Meanwhile, the sword-wielding figure retreated to the basement stairs, guarding the lower level.
At the entrance, a figure in black leather armor layered over a robe emerged from the mist.
Raising a dark iron device in their hands, they aimed at the group inside.
Bang-bang-bang~!
The deafening sound of gunfire filled the room as bullets rained down like a storm.
The crossbowman, already gravely injured, was the first to be riddled with bullets.
The shield-bearing Warrior raised his round shield.
The others flipped the wooden table over for cover.
Bullets tore through their hiding spots.
Furniture shattered, the round shield broke apart instantly, and bullet holes pockmarked the walls.
Their bodies convulsed, riddled with bloody wounds.
The gunfire ceased.
All five lay in pools of blood.
The shield-bearing Warrior's shield was reduced to scraps.
...…
Confirming their deaths and ensuring no other threats were present.
Wu Heng quickly descended to the basement.
It was even darker below. He cast the [Light Dance Spell] to illuminate the surroundings and saw Milisen tied to the chair.
She looked the same as in Xiaoxiao's shared vision.
Her head was tilted, eyes open, but lifeless.
"Milisen! Wake up! What's wrong?" Wu Heng called out, slapping her face gently.
Milisen's gaze briefly regained clarity before becoming dull again.
Wu Heng untied her ropes.
Glenda and Xiaoxiao flew back as well.
"The bad guys are all dead," Xiaoxiao announced.
Glenda added, "I've cleared my side as well. No one escaped."
"Good," Wu Heng nodded.
Glenda glanced at Milisen. "She's been given a mind-dulling potion. She won't recover quickly."
"What about an antidote potion?" Wu Heng asked while pulling out a vial.
He pried Milisen's mouth open and poured the potion in.
Like a paralyzed person.
It was uncertain how much she swallowed, as most dribbled down her cheeks, soaking her clothes.
He poured a second vial as well.
Seeing no improvement, Wu Heng decided not to linger.
Hoisting her onto his shoulder, he prepared to leave.
Just as he reached the stairs, his pupils contracted.
An eagle-like tamed beast was tearing at the corpse, attempting to pull out its tongue.
