Chapter 525, Who Is It?

Wu Heng bent down and retrieved a Tier 4 corpse core from the ground, carefully storing it.

He then opened the skeleton's attributes to check them.

[Skeleton Fly Demon]

[Level: 18]

[Attributes: Constitution 47, Strength 38, Agility 42, Intelligence 25, Perception 36, Charisma 5.]

[Traits: Hollow Skeleton, Advanced Soul, Flight.]

[Abilities: Hive Domain, Keratin Outer Shell.]

[Specialization: Biological Mutation, Physical Mutation.]

[Flight]: This unit has innate flying ability.

[Hive Domain]: Within this domain, the 'Skeleton Demon' can transmit commands to surrounding 'subordinate' minions.

[Keratin Outer Shell]: A thick keratin layer forms on the surface, providing additional defense and impact resistance.

The skeleton's name was Fly Demon.

It symbolized its inherent ability to fly.

Its attributes were not much different from the first Corpse King they had defeated.

If there was a difference, it could be seen in the specific attributes.

The first Corpse King had strong regenerative abilities, able to heal from non-lethal injuries at visible speed.

This one, however, had no regenerative ability and instead focused on flight.

That was their main difference.

"From now on, your name is Fly Demon One. Go to the side for now," Wu Heng named it.

The Skeleton Fly Demon flapped its wings and flew to the side, observing the skeleton army.

Wu Heng picked up the radio. "Turn on the headlights."

"Roger that!"

The convoy's headlights lit up in unison, illuminating the area.

Skeletons dragged the mutated and evolved zombie corpses together, allowing Wu Heng to begin converting them and collecting the scattered corpse cores.

After gathering the cores,

he continued down the road, converting the remaining corpses.

Once the battlefield had been mostly cleared,

he called Qi Hancai and led the massive skeleton army straight into the airport's main hall.

...…

The main hall was in complete disarray.

Bloodstains and claw marks covered the walls, and dark red dried blood smeared the floors.

Wu Heng ordered the skeletons to split up and thoroughly inspect every floor and room in the building.

After confirming there were no dangers,

"Let everyone come in," Wu Heng said.

Qi Hancai nodded, picked up her radio, and said, "Come inside."

The survivors waiting outside quickly filed in.

Some carried rolls of electrical wiring, while others held steel beams, and they skillfully dispersed once inside.

They began making modifications to the building.

Temporary lights were hung from the ceiling, and windows and doors were reinforced with steel bars.

The process mirrored what they had done when they secured the train station, only now it looked even more polished.

With the survivors working on the modifications,

Wu Heng continued down the hallway, heading toward the tarmac.

The area was relatively well-preserved.

There were a few bloodstains, but it wasn't as bad as the main hall.

By now, daylight had broken.

He could clearly see the entire airport layout.

When he glanced to the side, Wu Heng's eyes lit up.

A plane!

A passenger plane with its cabin door open sat there, its entrance partially covered in snow.

"Not much use, though!"

His initial excitement quickly subsided.

The plane seemed like more of a burden than a benefit.

Not only did they lack a pilot, but maintenance and fuel would be major issues.

His skeletons or the flying carpet, which required no resources, could easily fulfill the plane's function without any complications.

He stood there observing it for a moment.

Behind him, Qi Hancai approached and said, "No issues here. Tasks have been assigned."

Wu Heng replied, "Good. Leave a few survivors here, and I'll station some skeletons as well. We'll turn this into a trade point. Those capable of aerial transport can come here to exchange goods for food."

"I'll leave four people for now. When we return next time, I'll bring more," Qi Hancai suggested.

"Also, contact the central station. We've secured the airport; now it's up to them to provide the blueprints."

"Got it. I'll handle it when we get back."

Wu Heng thought for a moment as they walked. "Tell them that if they have gold, silver, blueprints, or weapons, they can trade them for food. Also, inform them about the Tier 4 Corpse King and its flying capability."

"Understood," Qi Hancai replied, jotting it down on her tablet.

They returned to the main hall.

Wu Heng directed the skeletons to clean out the sludge and debris from inside.

He wanted to make the place as habitable as possible.

They stayed there until noon.

Personnel were assigned to stay behind, along with many skeletons for collaborative defense.

Wu Heng and Qi Hancai led the remaining vehicles and skeletons back toward their base.

...…

They arrived at the munitions factory as dusk approached.

As Wu Heng stepped out of the vehicle, he saw Li Yahong and a few veteran members standing at the dormitory entrance.

When they saw Wu Heng, their faces lit up with joy as they walked over. "Was the mission successful?"

"Very smooth, the airport is ours now."

Qi Hancai parked the truck in the garage and came over, addressing Li Yahong, "How's everything here?"

Li Yahong glanced around. "See, I told you he's biased. You've got electricity here, and you can use all kinds of appliances as you please."

Qi Hancai chuckled. "Your side will have power once the power plant is fixed in a few days. Be patient."

"I'm not in a hurry."

Qi Hancai nodded. "I'm heading to the radio station now."

Li Yahong added, "Don't forget about the important stuff."

Qi Hancai glanced away with a hint of guilt. "I know."

Wu Heng chatted with the veteran members for a moment before heading over.

fff

"What important matter?" Wu Heng asked Li Yahong.

"It's a women's matter, don't interfere." Li Yahong lowered her voice and said, "I've been waiting for you for two days. You're free tonight, right?"

"I'm free. I'll keep you company tonight."

"Come on, let's go eat first."

The two of them walked together toward the cafeteria.

...…

In the radio room.

Qi Hancai picked up the radio, cleared her throat, and said, "This is the Xinfu City base, calling the central station."

A woman's voice came through the radio.

"This is the central communication channel. Xinfu City base, please proceed."

"We've taken over the airport and are ready for follow-up transactions anytime," Qi Hancai stated directly.

After she finished speaking, there was a brief silence on the radio.

After two or three seconds, a voice said, "Please hold on."

A few minutes passed before a deep male voice came through, "Xinfu City base, is the airport you mentioned a regular airport, or just an open area for planes to land?"

Qi Hancai paused for a moment, quickly understanding their suspicion.

They were doubting if they had simply found an empty lot to pass off as an airport.

She confidently replied, "It's the provincial civilian airport, fully secured, and we've established a defensive base. You can come anytime."

"Are you sure?"

"We're certain. We wouldn't joke about this."

The other side fell into another brief silence.

Then they responded, "The blueprints we promised are nearing completion. We'll contact you to confirm the delivery time."

Qi Hancai continued, "Our leader also mentioned that if you have gold, silver, or any other useful blueprints, we can exchange them for food."

"Understood. We'll compile a list and notify you in advance."

"Great!" Qi Hancai agreed, then added, "During the assault, we encountered a Tier 4 zombie at the airport. I'll now report its characteristics and attack methods."

The woman's voice returned, "Go ahead!"

"The zombie stood around 1.7 meters tall with a medium build. Its skin had a black keratin layer, and it had insect-like wings on its back, enabling flight. We confirmed it cannot fly for extended periods and needs to rest intermittently."

Qi Hancai explained in one breath.

The other side diligently recorded the information.

"Recording complete. Thank you, Xinfu City base, for your exploration and report."

"You're welcome."

Qi Hancai ended the call and sat down, resting her legs on the table as she continued listening to other radio transmissions.

After about five minutes,

new voices came through the radio.

"Is Xinfu City really this strong? Didn't they just bring up the idea of air transport recently? Now they've taken over an airport?"

"They've been distributing food across regions. I suspect their leader is a reincarnator who prepared before the outbreak."

"I don't usually believe in such things, but this explanation does seem to fit."

"Xinfu City is so impressive! Can they help our base? We're willing to be their subordinates."

"Do you think they need subordinates?"

Qi Hancai listened for a while before pulling her legs off the table.

She checked the time.

The young woman managing the radio said, "Sister Qi, we're showing a movie tonight. Want me to save you a front-row seat?"

Qi Hancai smiled, "No need. I have something to do with Li Yahong. You guys go ahead."

"Oh, okay."

...…

Meanwhile, after dinner at the cafeteria,

Wu Heng and Li Yahong returned to the dormitory room.

Li Yahong emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a white towel.

She dried her hair while sitting sideways on Wu Heng's lap, playfully complaining, "I thought you forgot about me!"

"How could I? I've just been busy."

"Alright, I believe you," Li Yahong smiled and added, "But tonight, you have to listen to me."

"Fine, but nothing too weird, alright?"

"You're the weird one," Li Yahong teased, pulling a sleep mask from her bag. "Put this on, and no matter what happens, don't take it off. Got it?"

"I have to wear this? We know each other so well; there's no need," Wu Heng said, holding the mask.

Li Yahong raised her brow, "Just listen to me."

"Alright," Wu Heng complied, covering his eyes and plunging into darkness.

With his sight taken away, his other senses became more sensitive.

He could hear her shifting position, her heartbeat, and her slightly excited breathing.

"Sit here. Remember, don't take it off," Li Yahong whispered softly near his ear as she helped him sit on the bed.

"Got it."

Just as Wu Heng thought she was about to make her next move,

she stopped.

He heard the faint sound of the door opening and a familiar, mosquito-like whisper, "Let's do it quietly; he'll be so surprised."

"What if he gets angry?"

Wu Heng's heart skipped a beat—Qi Hancai!

Although the voice was soft, he could clearly recognize it.

Qi Hancai had entered the room while he and Li Yahong were barely clothed.

"I already agreed. Why are you hesitating?" Li Yahong whispered.

The two women tiptoed toward the bed.

Suddenly, soft, cold hands rested on Wu Heng's thighs.

Wu Heng's brow furrowed.

Who was it?

Was it Li Yahong or Qi Hancai?
