"Scarlett's action scenes are absolutely stunning."
After a full day of filming, Jon Favreau chatted with Gilbert about Scarlett's scenes.
"Actually, if Scarlett didn't have so few scenes, I think she would have completely stolen Iron Man's spotlight."
Gilbert glanced at the proud Scarlett beside him and smiled. "That's why we can't let Scarlett steal Iron Man's spotlight, right, Scarlett?"
"Hmph!" Scarlett turned her head away arrogantly, showing that she didn't want to continue the topic.
Jon Favreau left to take care of other work, while Gilbert and Scarlett continued chatting.
"Tomorrow the film will shoot a post-credits scene. It's a pity I can't be there to watch," Gilbert said with some regret. Then he asked, "Scarlett, what projects do you have coming up next?"
"Let me think," Scarlett said, touching her chin as she recalled. "Mr. Feige said that if Iron Man succeeds, I'll have a lot more scenes in other movies. Also, Director Woody Allen wants to invite me to star in a crime comedy called Scoop."
"So that means your schedule next year should be pretty open," Gilbert said.
"Why? Do you have a new movie for me to act in?" Scarlett asked excitedly, hugging Gilbert's arm. "Come on, tell me what kind of story it is—I want in."
"It's a good story," Gilbert teased, "but I'm afraid you might not want to join."
"You know," Scarlett said, her eyes—highlighted with eye shadow—locking onto Gilbert's face, "no matter what you ask, I'll never refuse you. Besides, starring in one of your works has been my dream since I was a child."
"This time, it's not a movie."
"Then what is it?"
"It's a TV series. Strictly speaking, it's in the cyberpunk genre. Are you interested?"
Scarlett hesitated for a moment. As a film actress, taking on a TV role might seem like lowering her status. But then she thought about how even a major film director like Gilbert was directing a series—so what was there to be afraid of?
She agreed without hesitation. "Alright, but I want to play the female lead."
"Of course. If you're willing to do it, the female lead is yours," Gilbert said without a second thought.
Now, Lucy had been found, along with David Martinez and Gilbert's favorite, Rebecca-chan.
At the same time, this series would probably need a few Japanese actresses too—perfect for inviting Shizuka Kudo, Kyoko Fukada, and Satomi Ishihara to join the cast.
As for the original version, Gilbert definitely planned to make major adaptations and fill in a lot of new content.
It would be a ten-episode limited series, with each episode stretched to about an hour. The amount of additional material required was enormous—this was destined to be a long process.
In this series, Gilbert wanted the audience to truly understand the world setting: including New America, military technology, Arasaka Corporation, Kang Tao Corporation, and Night City.
He would also briefly introduce several main characters, such as Johnny Silverhand, the Arasaka family, and the New American president, Myers.
It was going to be a massive project, but Gilbert was eager to do it.
The success of the Marvel Universe was something destined in his previous life, but this new "2077 Universe," adapted from a game's world view, would prove that his years in Hollywood were far from wasted.
After finishing his visit to the Iron Man set, the next day Gilbert attended the premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The fourth Harry Potter movie was now directed by Mike Newell, while producers remained Gilbert's long-time collaborators, Robin Grant and David Heyman.
Mike Newell had previously directed Four Weddings and a Funeral. Though it was considered a classic, that was a film from 1994.
Since then, he hadn't achieved much success, so now he was taking over as the director of the Harry Potter series.
To be honest, while each Harry Potter movie did well at the box office, the series' success was never really credited to its directors.
But if such a world-famous franchise were to be ruined, then the director would certainly have to take the blame.
In some ways, the Harry Potter series was quite similar to the 007 series. After receiving investments from Middle Eastern funds, MGM managed to avoid bankruptcy, and the latest 007 reboot was already in motion.
At the premiere, Gilbert's appearance as a major director naturally drew attention from the media, and reporters asked him many questions.
"The Harry Potter films will accompany a whole generation as they grow up," Gilbert said. "Back then, I was captivated by the magic of that world, and that's what inspired me to bring the novels to the big screen."
Pointing to Ms. Rowling beside him, Gilbert added, "I was very lucky—Rowling trusted me and handed me this project. Now that we've reached the fourth film, I believe no one who walks into the cinema will be disappointed. The magical world is returning this winter."
J.K. Rowling said, "Gilbert and I have shared a friendship of over ten years. It was his encouragement and support that gave me the strength to keep writing when I was a single mother. I'm truly grateful to him. I've already seen the movie in advance, and I can promise that it won't disappoint anyone."
Reporters were also very curious about Gilbert's latest project. He responded, "Today is the premiere of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, so I shouldn't steal the spotlight. But I can reveal that my next film will meet everyone as scheduled next summer."
Although Gilbert said he didn't want to steal the spotlight, in truth, no one could outshine the world-famous Gryffindor trio.
When the three young stars—already stepping into adolescence—appeared on the red carpet, fans lining both sides and those watching the live broadcast went wild.
With the Harry Potter series achieving worldwide success, the Gryffindor trio's fan base was no smaller than that of Hollywood's top-tier celebrities, and their popularity was often even higher.
However, all three young actors were beginning to face a difficult question: one day, Harry Potter would end. When that day came, where would they go next?
They couldn't stay tied to the same roles forever—and they didn't want to.
Haley Joel Osment had it a bit easier; he was already universally recognized as Harry Potter. But before Harry Potter, he had worked with Gilbert on The Sixth Sense.
Over the years, besides acting in the Harry Potter films, he had also appeared in other productions. His excellent acting skills and natural talent allowed him to adapt to any role, making him the least typecast of the trio.
More importantly, he hadn't "grown out of his looks."
Perhaps remembering Gilbert's advice, he maintained his physique well—he didn't gain weight or lose his charm—so he was still the handsome Haley everyone adored.
Emma Watson, as Hermione Granger, had also gained a massive fan base, though she didn't have as many scenes to film as Haley.
Recently, she planned to focus on her studies. After all, Gilbert had promised that if she was admitted to an Ivy League university, he would give her a leading role.
Only Rupert Grint had begun to doubt himself.
Watching the other two maintain their good looks while he gradually grew more awkward in appearance made him feel insecure.
Within the trio, he often played the supporting role, and his public attention was far less than that of the other two, which made Rupert feel a tinge of jealousy.
To make matters worse, some media reports claimed that his character, Ron Weasley, wasn't a good match for Emma Watson's Hermione Granger, with fans loudly demanding that they "break up."
This left Rupert troubled and disheartened, making him realize the harsh reality of Hollywood's fame and fortune.
Still, since this was the premiere, he had to keep a bright smile to please the crowd. As he grew older, he understood that he no longer had the privilege of acting willful.
Any hint of attitude or tantrum could easily get him kicked out of the game.
